I like him. he is a funny charakter and his love story with Felsi is quite interesting. I used him most of the times in Awakening since a 2 hand build was weak in DAO.

He was kind of overshadowed and forgotten for me around all the other characters of this awesome cast. Would be my favorite one or close in just about any other group of companions. Also doesn't help that I save Orzammar for around last because the Deep Roads gameplay is difficult.
Enjoyed him in DA:A, only problem there was that his approval was a frickin mine field.
From my experiences, you love to have a guy like Oghren around when you're on a team that goes to war together. A real bulldog on the 'field, and comic relief off of it. I am a fan.

I liked Oghren, but I always did Orzammar last, so I never got to take him on many missions... Going through the Deep Roads with him was always fun, though.

I like him, he's funny. His banters with Zevran in Origins and Anders in Awakening are hilarious! ![]()

ZenMusic did promise to stop these "what do you think of <insert name here>" threads, after Aveline, Fenris, Anders and whoknowswhat
Last one, I promise
A lie apparently.

I really liked Oghren. He may be a drunk and crass a lot of the time, but he is not a malicious person at heart. He wrestles with a lot of self-doubt and insecurity and hides behind his jokes as a shield. He shows character growth towards the end of the game. You can get him after Lothering without having to finish "A Paragon of Her Kind" -- just do the quests that lead up to venturing in the Deep Roads where he will ask to join your party. From there, you can turn around and leave Orzammar and do other quests until you've leveled up a bit. His conversations in camp might be restricted until Branka's found, but you still get access to his cutscenes elsewhere.
Here are a few examples of what you'd see. (Putting them in spoiler tags for those that may still be new to the game.)

I really liked him, because I recognized the voice actor (Steve Blum). But other than for when I was required to have him in the group, I never really used him. I always used Alistair as tank, then Wynne and Morrigan. I might use him on a different play through though.

His dialogue's great, it's just a shame how late you get him if you follow the normal challenge scaling. Which contributes to a) playing most of the game without him in the party, and b) him being basically useless once you finally do get him, thanks to bioware's terrible stat allocation (level 16 2h warrior with under 40 strength... wat).
The alternative I guess is hitting up Orzammar right out of Lothering, but then the difficulty is way out of whack.

Probably my least favourite of the companions (in Origins). I find his humour crass and obvious, he arrives very late in the game, and his role as a 2-H fighter is already filled by Sten. I liked him more in Awakenings when he had more of a role.

I love Oghren. He's so funny. Never failed to make me laugh. I'm disappointed that he is not in Inquisition.

Oghren always "UP" to something especially with the ladies. Morrigan sees that something is "UP".

I used to not like him in my first playthroughs since Orzammar is the last of the four main quests that I visite.
But on recent playthroughs, I discovered some of his involvement in some places so I'll pick him up as soon as I can and he becomes one of my most favourite companions ![]()

I like how he flirts with Wyne and talks about drinking that is worth having him the party alone for

That Fade segment from him made me empathize with the character. Since I've been mocked and teased throughout high school for being an introvert.
Plus, his moments with Zevarn in Fort Drakon cracks me up every time.

Oghren's very good, no doubt...but only at humour, not in combat, sadly. I use him as the second warrior in fights; he's definitely not as good as Shale or Sten or Alistair.
Moreover, I got him quite late in the game, when most of the main quests were over. So never got to know him as much as other companions. But I've seen his conversation with other companions on the net. Hilarious!

His constant sex talk in Awakening is almost as bad as Isabella's in DA2. Someone at BioWare is obsessed with sex and wants other people to know it.

Give him a shot - I was the same way. He was boring to me in Origins, extremely, in fact. Better in Awakening. But I'm doing a playthrough right now with him in my party (almost) 24/7 (also playing a tank in Origins is the most boring thing ever... even on nightmare :/), and I enjoy his party banter immensely. Definitely the greatest part of his character. Like I said, just try him out for a PT. ![]()

Brave fighter, good man. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but he stood by me to end the Blight.

His constant sex talk in Awakening is almost as bad as Isabella's in DA2. Someone at BioWare is obsessed with sex and wants other people to know it.
Personally, I rather liked Isabela's take on it, because it was good-natured and sometimes amusing, whereas Oghren was basically just coming off as a creepy drunk (like his comment to Mhairi), so I'd say his was worse. To its credit, this shtick was well-handled with Sigrun's dismissive responses and her ability to take away his momentum. I suppose there's a fair amount of bias here, because both of these characters remind me of people I know, the former of which I'm very fond of, and the latter I'm most certainly not.
Anyway, Oghren is a character I can only take in small doses, and once I'm done with Orzammar I don't really take him around. His voice makes my own throat feel irritated, and he can sometimes come off as little more than a fart joke. The writers made sure to put a bit more depth to his character, but the drunken dwarf facade can be overbearing. That being said, I think he's an excellent war buddy. I don't care for interpersonal shenanigans, but in a battlefield setting he's kind of a champ, and for that reason I'd consider him my second in command in Awakening. Regardless of what I think of the drunken oaf, he's a drunken oaf that can hold his own.

I think Oghren had his moments, but I can understand why he's not that popular.
