Shall we discuss some Bioware characters? Could let the thread get offtrack, but hey. Might be fun to actually talk about. Maybe we can even just leave the critic out of it for once, or tread off for some non-Bioware characters.

Everybody on these forums is scrub tier for always derailing threads with Spider-Man. Y'all ain't got no imagination.

sometimes we need a batman, deadpool and hentai(double points if it is the naughtier ones), Micheal Jackson with popcorn about Reading the comments and someone following up on that about waiting for the Michael Jackson with popcorn remark.

Pyrmaid quoting is always in vague and so is popcorn making and derails are fun.

I think she should just stick to the critiques about women's image, behavior or roles in games since it's easier to argue, versus her vg promotes violence against women argument. The later ignores that the npcs of both genders in the games she criticized are equally susceptible to violence, most assaults usually don't go unpunished, and assaults are up to the individual player's morality.

Hitman Absolution is a good example about the misinformation used in her argument as 47 doesn't visit the strip club for pleasure. The dancers are painted in a sympathetic light as you learn about their boss's depravity, they're not just eyecandy as being caught by them during the assassination leads to trouble, the player isn't rewarded or railroaded into assaulting them, there's no molestation of female corpses nor is the hiding mechanic intended for voyeurism. Just playing the game would give much needed context for that mission. The same could be said of FONV on the violence against women angle.

I would state my opinion that she is a hack pushing her own agenda and looking to get rich off all the idiots out there, but because I'm a white straight male my opinion is worthless due to my unchecked privilege.

Apparently I've been oppressing people my whole life but I don't feel bad for it. Something must be terribly wrong with me.

To be honest, I have never really paid much attention to the whole GamerGate BS. Though i fundamentally disagree with Feminism and has heavily criticized Emma Watson for the HeForShe Campaign.

I didn't even know what that was, and I can't complain to much because its for a good cause but I did find it hilarious that one of there main ideals is that gender equality is an issue that affects all people. Well okay, that's true but why is your campaign called HeForShe then. LOL.

And why is your definition of equality is labeled as "'Feminism"?

This article pretty much sums up why I'm against the HeForShe campaign.

No good ever comes from mentioning femfrequency on internet forums, thus this thread will likely be locked. Now just isn't really the time for these sort of discussions on the internet.

This thread is going places, I'll grant you that.

Very weak post (Gaider's not yours). Do people need a reason to care? Why the f*ck do YOU care? Is there such a profound shortage of shitty opinions on YouTube or elsewhere on the Internet that the appearance of this one constitutes a crime in the making...and on we can go.

The statements about these people not thinking of feminism as a thing, and thus that women have some sort of unfair advantage, is a totally jumbled mess. I have no clue what he's even trying to say here.

About the industry listening, I'm pretty sure every single gaming site I know of has posted at least one article about it. Even Cracked, a freaking comedy website for crying out loud, has for some reason decided jump behind the cause of ZQ and DQ (I enjoy, or enjoyed years ago, their comedy, but their attempts at being relevant to gaming are just pitiful). Additionally, some nobody from the internet (that's not an insult to her, that's an insult to the internet), of all places, is being invited to go to speak at a college, which tells me that she IS indeed having an impact.

I don't think a single soul will deny that the industry should be able to listen to critique. However, those things that were mentioned at the beginning of the article, that she's "biased," "cherry-picking her evidence," and so on--has anyone bothered to refute them?

I've never watched one of her videos. I'm tempted to just so I can then ignore all discussions about her, having decided for myself whether she's right or wrong. His stance, and further Epler's stance, and further Bioware's stance, is not surprising in the least however.

I think that both men and women who live in the Western world can simply be happy not to live in remote areas of Africa, the Middle East or India. Misogyny is almost beaten here, but nowhere close there.

Everyone should. A nice pair of boobs makes a nice pair of...nudes? I wanted to rhyme. That's the only thing that made sense.

But does anyone in the industry really care other than maybe Bioware?

Maybe not at this very moment. But I think that if the trend continued, it would indeed affect the industry.

"Boob" and "nude" don't actually rhyme, unfortunately.

I'm sure you could get some kind of rhyme going with "lube", though.

It does, there's phonetic similarities. Someone who listens to rap would probably know what I'm talking about.

I understand what you are saying, but I think Misogyny is here to stay, even if after several more generations of striving for equality happens in earnest. For whatever reason there will be some men that hate women and some women that hate men.

But from my prospective, the gaming industry, the same as any other industry need to be proactive about it. Besides being the right thing to do, they need to find the norm, the target, the cost effect area to take their products; but right now the norm is moving very quickly. 20 years ago we would not have seen any gays included in games except as some games are now depicting women. Rather Anita hit or missed in her comments may affect many of us that like Bio Games, but her underlying concern is still valid.

And yes to boobs.
