What the hell? I don't like that idea and I don't like hooves.

Just curious: Why are most mass shooters male?
Also curious: Why are there close to 2 million males incarcerated in the USA and only 200,000 females?
I'm asking for your thoughts.
As for my thoughts...I guess I do see men as victims of a sexist society. Sexism that hurts both genders and upholds all the stereotypes regarding X vs Y chromosomes. I don't mean for that to offend any men here. I'm just trying to point out that sexism hurts everyone. This is just my opinion and again - I really do not mean any offense.
Caine Smith's story is a good example of how homophobia and sexism toward women can hurt males. He's not a - what you'd call - "macho" kid, and for that he's bullied. That lack of expected "masculinity" (I put quotes around the word because it's a type of prescribed masculinity that alienates people like Caine....) seems to attract aggression for this child. Plus he has two moms which makes his situation harder as far as being bullied is concerned. And Caine plays video games to work through his pain. It's... hard to watch this child struggle through these issues. And he's not a girl. He's a boy. "An 11-year-old who gets routinely harassed, teased, punched and even choked at school for having two moms, long hair and a soft voice." Hence... he has "feminine" characteristics, and two mothers in lieu of one father. School peers see those qualities as weaknesses, deserving of aggressive punishment and abuse.
Feminism and masculinism merged as one = humanism. At least, that's the philosophy I hold. I identify as both. I identify as one. No one should be bullying either side, only because it's never as black and white as folks would have us think...
In the end, we're all human beings. We should love and respect each other.

These "toxic ideas" (what the hell does that even mean?) of manhood she speaks of existed in the '40s, '50s, '60s and beyond yet there weren't monthly school shootings back then. Many high schools had rifle teams and such yet amazingly enough they weren't shooting each other in the hallways.
So maybe Anita there thinks video games and their "terrible misogny" are behind this?
No, the disrespect she gets isn't because she is a woman, but rather because she is a moron as her Twitter commentary makes abundantly clear.

I think I can understand the reason as to why so many are offended by Anita. Namely, why so many males who are offended by Anita. (Yes, there are females who are offended by her too. I'm just saying that I'm taking this moment to empathize with men who experience frustration with her.)
It seems as though she has failed at establishing a real connection with the opposite sex and gender. Meaning, feminism is about equality. And its purpose is to serve to protect people (not just women) from sexist culture. Men are hurt - killed even - because of sexist culture. Cis men. Trans men. Intersexed men. You name it.
Women are victims of sexist culture of course. But men are too. All people are victims of it, in truth. We should all oppose sexism because it is a thing that has proven to pigeonhole each of us, time and time again. That's where that frustration comes in, whether you're male, female, or something somewhere between those two.
When it comes to defining the origins of sexism - it's tough to say. Men have mostly been in power for, well, forever. But even that isn't as black and white as we all would like to think. It seems that sexism has shaped itself over the centuries, perpetuated by men and women alike. There was no single person who started it, but instead a snowball of institutions (religious, political, you name it) that involved constituents of both genders. The lines are so blurred by now that it's near impossible to point fingers.
Boys will still punch the weaker boy. Girls will still gossip about the weaker girl. And variations thereof.

she has to learn in real world, that every life we go through is not same, it is always different as we go through. shaped by our own choices and decisions.
we are shaped by events that happens in our daily life and disasters as well.

Perhaps one of the points Anita is trying to get across is that there are still institutions that perpetuate sexism. And one of those institutions is the gaming industry. Not that this industry has an agenda to oppress women, but rather that the industry is going with the flow because - money.
Anita has alienated a lot of people. It seems she is still thinking on too narrow of a level. As I've expressed, I feel that sexism hurts us all. I don't know any of you personally, but I am willing to bet most of you at some point have been bullied. And I'm willing to bet your bullies have, at least once, called your sexuality into question in order to drive that abuse deeper into your developing psyches.
It would be unfortunate for the gaming industry - or any industry - to continue on the path of sexist culture. That would end up alienating so many people. Men and women alike. A woman raising a son to respect both sexes. A man raising a daughter to respect herself. And vice versa...etc.
I think that's what Anita wants to point out, but fails to do so because, well, she's playing into the same old habit of alienating half the audience. Treating social issues like sexism as a black or white thing is irresponsible. I agree with some of the information she presents, but I can't agree with her methods, and I wish she would pay equal attention to the suffering of all sexes.
Hopefully I haven't alienated any of you by, not so much defending Anita, but attempting a translation. I can't defend the blatant divisiveness - the "us vs. them" mentality. Pitting one group of people against another. It's too marginalizing. It's wrong. We're all people. That's all that should matter. We're all affected by these issues.

Welcome to the forum.
Spoiler
Mass shootings are not something that I think will be made clear any time soon. It's not a subject I particularly like to look at, because it's come to close to my people a couple of times. I know women have taken part in them, like the shootings themselves, it's pretty rare. Most cases I recall (like the couple who were kicked out of Cliven Bundy's ranch & then started a "revolution") are of a women aiding a S.O. or relative, gang/cartel members. When it's not a youth, often seems to be some kind of social, religious, or political fanaticism motivator. As far as kids go. They seem to target what they know: schools, malls, family. A nearby mall my friends spend a lot of time in had the worst happened to it a couple years ago. They weren't there that day. A young man, sick & angry, drove there to have a massacre (after gunning down or stabbing family if I remember correctly). I think there was a string of shootings all in a quick time frame to this, sparked by Sandy Hook. I remember a man, begging, pleading with the media to not sensationalize the stories, that the research showed shootings are related to news portrayals & sensationalism. That by simply starting off their stories with the sound of sirens actually correlated to a bigger possibility of copycats & shootings. He said something that stuck with me. One shooting is an aberration, subsequent events the following weeks to months were to be "expected". He blamed media for that. He was ignored. They continued with their sirens, & blamed Video Games. Maybe he is right. Maybe it's the way we mystify & sensationalize these events that takes something tragic & rare, that provokes others to follow through.
As far as your second question. Racism. Lack of empathy offered to male offenders. Drug related crime. I never really suspected anything more than that.

Feminism is a myth. Case in point, any guy who's ever played the field and scored tons of chicks. Woman love to be sex objects and go after the alpha seed of the top males. it's programmed into them.
Read a book called Sperm Wars, eye opening. I think it's a must read for all guys too be honest.
Wanna know why guys who are the most aggressive, strongest, driven, in shape are that way.....
Cause the poontang dictates that those type of men are the most attractive sexually for women.
People that say otherwise are either glib or lying.

Nope. Proven fact.
So, here's something.
80 percent of the men in the world find 80 percent of the woman in the world sexually attractive.
80 percent of woman, find 20 percent of men in the world sexually attractive. They rate 80 percent of the men, now we're just talking about body and face shots here, So. PURE sex appeal. 80 percent of men are below average or undesirable for 80 percent of women.
Now... that might create some interesting dynamics eh.
The 20 percent of men that are "hot". Well... They have certain traits.
*You want to have those traits, lol. If your a guy and... Um, you know. You're Straight.*
Woman are not the "fairer" sex.... LOL, that is also a myth.
They are natural born pimps and they play for keeps.
Even more so than men.
And I love them for it.

And I find her critique, for the most part, invalid. Cherry-picking, confirmation bias, never looking at the whole picture and completely neglecting to put video games as a medium as well as the setting they play in the proper context. While she may have a few valid points, they are so much drowned in manipulative half-truths that I can't take her criticism seriously.
My opinion too.
I fully support #GamerGate and Anita has lost what little respect I had for her with some of her last tweets. It's like she's trying to rile up as many people as possible and trying to twist everything into an attack on women in gaming (or women in general).
And I couldn't care less what David thinks of me because of that.
EDIT:
I mena, look at this garbage from her twitter:
"Yet another corollary of Lewis's Law: comments on any discussion about toxic masculinity illustrate toxic masculinity."
"Not a coincidence it’s always men and boys committing mass shootings. The pattern is connected to ideas of toxic masculinity in our culture." - If I said something similar about women, I would be crucified
"This is a war on women in gaming waged by a group of sexist monsters. If you are not a horrible human being, get out of #gamergate now."
And her list of tactics for harrassing women is to die laughing.
Apparently, politely asking question is also harrasing. Even funnies she describes the very tactics her followers, radical feminsits and SJW are using.

Ya know, I was once attacked by a rabbid feminist for using the phrase "fairer sex".
According to her (or him..it's the internet after all) the terms come from women having pale skin which is considered attractive. Pale skin is the result of being in the house all day because PATRIARCHY.
Hence offensive.

lol... wat!!! Ha, wow..... Just wow.
This chick Anita is either a dumb ho, or..... A great trollolol. But then again.... This is the modern society we live in and twitter so.....
Probably just dumb.
Also, if people would stop watching the liberal progressive media outlets or Faux News and actually research stuff on their own like the Uniformed Crime Report, they would find out that Violent Crime is at an all time low.
So the whole, Masculinity thing is causing mass shootings is silly. I actually think today's American/Western Males are more beta and pvssy whipped than ever before, but.... That's another story.
So yeah..... This chick I think is just really, really glib and kinda dumb.
