I like playing mages the best so it's one of the reasons I'd like a gay KISA companion too. I seem to have been lucky enough to like at least one rogue a game to fill that spot for me on the team too, though I play rogue before warrior as well so it helps to have at least one likeable mage for rogue playthroughs too... which is where I struggled in DA2 after act 1 since I preferred Bethany out of the mages... no wonder I never finished rogue and warrior Hawkes.  :P

Also I'm now really keen on the idea of a Qunari lady blacksmith who picks up one of her weapons to defend her village and just never puts it down again because the fight to save her village leads her to wanting to save others too. I love this thread, it has the best ideas

Yeah, the lady blacksmith is freaking badass.  Kudos to whoever thought it up. ( A Luvy and veeia collaboration I believe).

Yes to all of these. As one who loves playing a warrior, I would not mind a gay KISA who is also my LI to fight along side with me.

Just think about all romantic scenarios

Now I'm imagining a grand last stand with the two KISA's facing what they know will be their death. Together. Unflinching. and totally at peace.

I just had to wipe a tear.

oU6LcUK.jpgFINALLY! I feel like such a noob only just now posting him, but this is Matthias Trevelyan, my attempt at putting bae into the game. Of course I managed to catch him in an awkward speech position, but hey, my pictures of boo in real life are ALL like this one, so pretty par for the course.

Right, so as someone who is late to the party and can't really afford to read 100+ pages of comments, I apologise in advance if this or some thing similar was offered already.

My KISA idea would be of a Tevinter magister who refuses to use magic (maybe he witnessed demonic possession as a child and this traumatised him - maybe this happened to a parent AKA an adult who lost control). In technical terms, his class would be a warrior , but maybe eventually he can specialise is something of an Arcane Warrior and learn to use subtly channel the Fade to improve himself (character development, yay!). Oh and he also rejects anything from the Chantry, does not believe in the Maker.

His appearance and demeanour is knight-like. He wears heavy armour, carries sword and shield, and generally has all the masculine trait you would expect from that type of personage. His sword and/or shield are unique item(s) like Bianca is to Varric. Or maybe he eventually acquires them for his Arcane Warrior specialisation :)

Only tangentially related to this thread, but I've got no where else to confess. I decided to do another Mass Effect run through with a FemShep. Except I left Kaidan behind on Virmire for the first time ever in my dozens of plays. I'm feeling ridiculously guilty and regretful about it.

I honestly don't think I could do it, even as a FemShep.  To be honest, I suspect I'd get to the end of Eden Prime, see Kaidan getting all flirty with my FemShep, and restart as another DudeShep.  As much as I love variety and RPing, I just can't do the ME series without doing the DudeShepXKaidan route.  Just.  Can't.  It's the only story in my opinion.

My one and only Shep (so far) flirted with Kaidan all the way through ME1 ... and then saved Ashley. What can I say? Choosing between the cute guy with a crush on you and your best friend isn't easy.

Thank goodness Garrus exists.

Everything sounds good except the mage aspect. Who not have him be a spirit or fade warrior who pulls from justice or valor instead?

Don't feel guilty about it. It's what Kaidan wanted after all.

Plus personally I think saving Ashley is better story-wise.

Mshep/Kaidan is great, I also like Fshep/Garrus a lot. Sorry Ashley, you were cool and all but...

I never much cared for Ashley. Too bland for my tastes. And WHITE armor? Really? Then after I saw her makeover in ME3 with the impractical hair and glam look, I was like, "Yep made the right decision, girl ain't nothing but eye candy for the straight boys." Bioware might as well have added high heels to her armor.

My bf didn't care for her as well, though he disliked her for "shoving" her religion in his face. Either way, she's dead in all my playthroughs.

Kinda been there, done that, don't you think? What with Cole and Anders doing just that already. I'm more interested in something like a Mage (I guess he's not a Magister) who witnessed something so traumatising that it completely destroyed his desire to have anything to do with magic (or maybe he tried, but he has a psychological block). And that Mage lives in Tevinter, I mean, how do you stay away from magic in Tevinter? Maybe his quest line deals with Tranquility or something sinister like that.

No, we haven't been there and done that To be fair, you said you haven't read every page of the thread, but this has been (and Maker's Breath, I have no doubt will now be) argued before. The character envisioned by many who have posted is not a mage, or rogue in any shape or form. No magic, and dubious on the "roguing", because there is debate on whether Sebastian counts. Just a pure warrior, in armor smashing or defending from things. Your character concept is cool, in fact very much so, but as with (by the Ancestors) Dorian, because he is s mage, he doesn't count. Besides, according to Vivienne, his magic would be permanently stunted, like Qunari saarabas, without proper training. And I highly doubt he would be able to just live in Tevinter as proven by Dorian having to leave because the culture of magic first is so strong there. Unless the ritual killed everyone who knew he was a mage (remember magic manifests quite early), then someone would have found him to train him I would think.
Now if we got him and say the blacksmith lady KISA, then I'm down (sort of). But I would actually be much more interested in a character who's family didn't care that they were not a mage, and instead come up with rituals to essentially bind or coax a spirit into augmenting them, as apparently Tevinter mages use them for everything.

The magic being stunted is why he would be more inclined to using magic subtly instead of overtly. There are a few ways you could spin this to make it work, but I see your point.

EDIT: In retrospect, the idea of a knight having a spirit forced onto him does sound interesting. I just wasn't getting that from your previous reply.

I mean, like I said, the concept is way cool, it just doesn't exactly fit what we're asking for here. Plus if we do go to Tevinter, I would like to see how someone who doesn't have magic get by.

What I would really like to see though, is one of their Templars interacting with one from Southern Thedas and the realization that there can be a counter to magic, and thus magical rule.

Speaking of Tevinter... I just watched my friend play through his copy of Ryse: Son of Rome.

And well, one character did manage to have my complete and undivided attention.

Spoiler

Let me just say that the combat system in that game is a joy to experience. Sword and board combat at it's best! A pleasure to watch. The very nice arms on the protagonist didn't hurt, either. And that aura of confidence - he's not a douche about it, but he knows he can handle nearly anything combat-related that comes his way.

Someone's a bit of a messy eater. Look at all that raspberry jam.

Spoiler

So... bi or gay Tevinter Centurion companion for DA4?

Bonus: he may be able to slaughter his way through an entire horde from darkest Gaul, but he can also do puppy eyes on occasion.

Spoiler

Disagree. And it really doesn't make sense to save Ashley at all. Kaidan is the higher ranking officer and he's also a (particularly powerful) human biotic. The Alliance would probably not be very happy about Shepard leaving him behind instead of a run-of-the-mill gunnery chief. Plus Kaidan is the one with tech expertise, so he's the logical choice to arm the bomb, and choosing the help the Salarians and leave the bomb guarded by a single soldier when it's the whole purpose of the mission is completely irrational.

I'm glad they give us the options for the sake of role playing and replay value (which is the only reason Ashley made it through this time), but any path beyond assign Kaidan to arm the bomb and then choosing to protect the bomb/save Kaidan is pretty nonsensical since Shepard is an Alliance soldier.

I romanced Kaidan with a FemShep once in ME1 just to see the content and it was super disconcerting for me. She went on to Garrus in the other two games. I actually sort of like playing as FemShep just because I have the same issue with not being able to say no to Kaidan in ME3 when I'm playing as a ManShep. Hell, Miranda might possibly even beat out Kaidan for my absolute favorite character in the series, and I still can't convince myself to romance her in ME3. I'm not quite as attached to FemShep with a particular LI, so I can play the field a bit more. Besides the Kaidan/Garrus/Garrus one, I also had a Liara/Thane (Liara)/Liara one. This time I think I'm going to go with Jacob (even though he's awful) and Samantha just for variety's sake.

GO BACK AND SAVE THAT AMAZING MAN

It's just this one time. I've never even seen Ashley in ME3 before. I just have to sate my curiosity and then she'll be gone forever. (I'm not a big fan of her even beyond the fact that it's always either her or my favorite guy.)
