I feel like the closest we've gotten to Knight in Shining Armor in DA is Sebastian, who sucked as a romance; you can't look at or flirt with anyone ever, and you must pledge your life and chastity to the Chantry. I think this highlights the problem with the Knight in a realistic universe, why is he so dedicated to an idea above all, where is there room for the rest of human emotions? Knights are aloof and separate, compassionate, handsome, perfectly dedicated, but to ideals and not people. Using Loras who in the TV series is a bit catty, very focused on his appearance, and his own view of himself as the premier knight gives him a bit more humanity and some flaws. KISA has no flaws except perhaps his compassion and dedication.
I'd actually much more like to see a gay warrior who is quanari, barbarian, or dwarf because I think it'd be interesting to see how they navigate their own cuture that seems to have rigid societal stratas. I don't need them to be ultra masculine and gay, or hugely muscled (although that would be nice). I think the KISA is a difficult character because there is nowhere to go with him, there are no surprises it's all noble sacrifice and armor polishing.
