I understood it.. And umm.. I'm moderately dark skinned (err.. tan actually). /not offended

Glad that it didn't come across as a total dick move on my part.  Was trying to be funny and missed the mark a bit.  I would also hope that the fact that a statement like that would be about the last thing that I would ever think, let alone say in a public setting would tip people off that I was not in any way being serious.  I edited it anyway because, really, it wasn't that funny anyway.  No big deal.

It's actually funnier that you're so nervous about it. :D

But the joke wasn't so bad.

Aren't you a little young to get references from a decade ago?  You were, what, three?  Three and a half?

I'm in my 30s. I have a female friend who loves that movie. How old do you have to be?

I'm surprised your mom let you watch that movie.  Wasn't it PG-13?

You should have been watching Dungeons & Dragons cartoon and salivating over Venger....!

A bit off topic, but I wouldn't mind having a gay templar as a future romance. And this afternoon, in a sneak peek of a new trailer, we got an image of a rather attractive very dark skinned Templar that got me thinking about having a Templar as an actual gay romance.

Spoiler

Honestly, I think that a non-polariizing character would be a much better idea.  A basic "Knight" or "Soldier," not one that has a religious connection or is involved with the ongoing argument about mage rights.  Too many fans hate Templars regardless of their morals to make the first gay KISA controversial from the offset.

First of all:  You need to watch it ASAP.  I know what you like and you will like that show.  It's campy and 80's, but one of the most underrated awesome 80's cartoons (Uni and Bobby aside).

Second:  You better be careful with your Venger statements because there is a huge Venger fan in the thread.  Wonder if you can figure out who?

Now, how can I relate this whole tangent back to the thread topic?

Templars aren't necessarily moral-based anyways. A lot of them don't seem like the same type of Chantry believer as clerics. They're more concerned with one set of rules: the ones dealing with magic. The Templar who cares about the rest of the Chant of Light struggles with duties, like Evangeline and Cass.

Yeah, I suppose. I wouldn't mind having a military man be a romance. A general or even a soldier would be cool to have, both as a party member, and a romance.

But why even incorporate that into the character when we both know that half the fans will complain about a Templar LI no matter what?

I totally hear what you are saying, but I don't mind the gay/bisexual characters to be controversial outside of their sexuality.  I kind of love that Anders and Fenris are both very polarizing guys.  As long as the reason why people dislike (or like) them is due to their beliefs or actions, versus their sexuality, then I'm cool with it.  A gay/bisexual male templar would work for me provided that there is another option available for the gay male PCs that don't align with Templar beliefs.

ETA:  See?  KISA caught on already!  Have a like!

They're knights, though. They have all the trappings. And the only real alternative to that - say a Chevalier - has equally offensive undertones, just for a different group.

Honestly Fenris was basically our templar LI already, and it didn't bother me being pro-mage (though I did wish the romance would have focused on that a bit more, especially given Fenris's backstory).

I remember that D&D cartoon when I was a kid. I don't remember liking it though. Wasn't there a villain named Marduk on it?

Actually, that's a good point... if there's more than one gay LI then I guess it wouldn't matter if one of them was a Templar so long as the other was neutral on that issue (rather, totally uninvolved...).  I was also under the impression that these characters had to be gay and not also bi, which is probably why I didn't consider two fully gay LIs in the first place...

And yeah, I did notice "KISA" in your post and decided to go with it... lol

I know that we are totally off topic at this point, but I have to ask:  How is demisexuality its own orientation?  My understanding of it is that it means that the person needs to form a romantic attachment to a person before becoming sexually interested in them?  Is that not the case?  If it is, then how is it its own orientation?  Wouldn't you still have an orientation towards specific (or all or anything in between or besides I guess) genders or sexes?  Like, if I were demisexual but only interested in females, wouldn't I be heterosexual still?

Due to being offtopic, I'll put this in spoilers.

You know, that's an interesting point.  I wonder what sandal was thinking when he made this thread?  For me, I'm cool with him being bisexual and, to be honest, I think it's way more likely for that happen because Bioware does seem to have a big thing about offering this type as an LI for the female PCs.  I would love for him to be gay, but I would totally settle for bisexual.  As long as he is available to my male PCs.

That?  Is incredibly helpful.  Thank you for that.  I still have a ton of questions, but don't want to derail the thread, so I'll either take it to PM or wait for you to finally make a thread advocating for options that you think will represent you.  And I totally think you should and would definitely throw my support behind it if you choose to do so.
