I have not been lurking proper as I should be (keep stalking my own emails waiting for the rp that my KISA prototype is in instead) so I apologize if this has been brought up and that this is also a very small and very and I mean VERY stupid thing to ask about but, would anyone really prefer the KISA to be more no nonsense type of person or have a bit of a sense of humor to them? (Yes like i said stupid thing to ask) Personally I prefer it if LIs have some kind of humor to them so I would really dig having a KISA with a very dry sense of humor.

Depends on the humor.

Oh of course since there is many different kinds of humor. Which is why I said I would prefer one with dry humor since that happens to be the kind I enjoy the most.

Humor is good. Not necessary, but still good.  If the KISA could be funny without being too sarcastic I think it would fit the archetype without also being too similar to previous companions like Alistair or Dorian.

I would take no sense of humor over Alistair's 'hurrdurrbuffyspeak' humor, honestly, but that's just my personal preference (I find that type of humor annoying, juvenile, and trying too hard to nudge-nudge-wink-wink at a modern audience - it just doesn't fit the world, or a KISA archetype for me).

How do we explain Zevran's accent then?  Spain has fish markets and great fish soup.

I think that was more Curry's acting, or perhaps BioWare hadn't fully locked it down back then. For me Rivain has always clearly equalled Spain, although not entirely analagous (Qunari issue being similar to the Moors), while Antiva is more Italian (very similar political structure to the Venetian city state, the names and with later characters like Josie the accent is more similar). It's definitely not as defined in Origins - I'm replaying at the moment and just picked up Antonio Banderas Zev.  Actually I've always wondered why Isabela had a more Ferelden/Marcher accent - she was from Rivain and spent a good part of her life in Antiva. Now if she had a lady equivalent of Zev's accent... *eyes glaze over*

Hmm, I don't see why not. I play most of my PCs as KISA types and they have a witty, charming sense of humour. IMO a KISA would never be so sarcastic as to hurt someone's feelings, such as Morrigan's biting snark in Origins for example. Nor would they have especially juvenile or childish toilet humour, or be overly crude like say Isabela. Dry humour could definitely work.

Don't think I've seen a charming kind of sense of humor before so kind of curious of what that would look like (though I could have seen it and just associate it with another kind of humor) Probably my own bias speaking since I do enjoy dry humor but I do feel a touch of that sprinkled in the KISA cake batter would keep it from coming off as too serious nothing wrong with serious of course but I don't think I would personally enjoy a fully serious no nonsense LI of any kind tbh.

There is a character named Eder in Pillars of Eternity - don't know if the game has romances, or if he's a gay one - but so far, he's very close to my ideal of a KISA.

What makes you say that? Do you mean personality-wise?

I have no idea what his personality is like nor much about the game, but a quick google search lets me know that he's a hottie, for sure!

I'd embed the pic but it won't let me from my phone.

@daveliam:  He's a farmer who fought in a war, and he questions his involvement.  He's faithful without being overbearingly religious about it. He sometimes accepts grim reality for what it is, but if given the power to change things it seems he's willing to take the stand.  Most importantly, I get this feeling that this character cares about his place in the world and isn't the usual selfish egoist most NPCs in these games tend to be.

He's not flamboyant or flippant.  Though he does crack a few jokes, he's probably got a personality somewhat close to Kaidan's (I know many say that's "boring" - I do not).

And twice now (only through Act 1) he's looked out for me in ways that instantly screamed KISA - and actually made me feel like it hinted at "maybe something more" even though I'm probably just reading into to because I want the character to be my KISA damnit! Well - if there's no romances - there's always headcanon.

Yes, please.  Make mine a double.  Honestly, I couldn't design an LI that was more my type if I tried.  Good.  God.  Y'all.
