Anyone feeling any urge on coming up with a backstory?

To give an illustration of the above of what I mean by temptation, my background imagine for the Avaar Gladiator was always the following (and keeping in mind that in this write-up, I'd imagine the Avaar having very much of a noble warrior culture, with the Gladiators themselves having a similar fictiona ala the recent Spartacus). And, of course, my preferred scenario is slave uprising in Tevinter.

The KISA is an exemplary warrior in an Avaar warband. They are out training children, though in smaller numbers than usual. Tevinter slavers fall upon them (the lore handwave can be that slavers frequently raid the Avaar for the quality of their warriors). The KISA (and a few warriors) make a stand to allow children to flee. They are caught.

At the Arena™ the Tevinters demand the Avaars fight for their entertainment. KISA refuses ("I won't die for your entertainment"). So Magister Evil ™ says something to the effect of "Then they will" and has the other surving Avaar warriors. Rather than being dissolutioned, the KISA then fights in the Arena to stop similar executions, and becomes something of a legend among the other slaves send to die, frequently offering to perform feats alone to save people that would otherwise be executed (e.g. to fight the lion-equivalents alone, even bare handed).

The issue with this story is then pitching a temptation arc that's more than just revenge. My current template is that Magister Evil got wise, and used a BM ritual to bind lifeforce to a number of random innocents. Simple people. So KISA has a choice: the life of the magister, and future evil, for the life of these innocents, or the hope that in the future the Protagonist + others will find some way to break the BM enchantment, and then stop take the Magister's life.

Oh gee, what do you know?

I had a rough sketch of a dwarf design before I went AWOL...

We also had Nevarran Dragon Hunter, Rivaini Naval Commander, Lady Blacksmith....I think we also briefly spoke about a noble from the Anderfels that was protesting the Grey Warden's involvement in politics.

I had a archer in-mind for the Rivaini

Lady Artifice made me more open to the idea of my Rivaini concept being a seer (though I still prefer archer :P)

Seer! Seer! Seer!  :P

Actually, I really do think that since we've already had a Rivaini rogue, we need another class. I'm just rooting for female Mage, because it fits the lore so well.

More Rivaini fashion sense though, more big gold jewelry.  ^_^

I really this idea. I've never thought of utilising Tevinter as device for knights since all I could think of is "mages gones wild and templars got no control" scenarios. But in this case, the whole Roman colosseum and gladiator thing would work out really nicely, especially since Tevinter takes some inspiration from the Byzantine Empire.

That, and I've read some pretty interesting novels that had the whole gladiator thing going and it's something I've been wanting to read more of- haven't thought seeing in Dragon Age yet until now.

And good choice getting the Avaar into it that was as well.

Would a seer really work though since they most govern the communities?

I don't know if I'm quite ready to test the waters with a dwarf romance, but I suppose DA4 might be a breakthrough. It took till DAI to break my elf only romance streak.

Hopefully, the dwarf KISA would have a hella deep voice, b/c hell yes!

Sure it could. They mostly do that, but mages amongst the Dalish also mostly become Keepers and guide the clan. Unless they're deemed ill-suited, like Velanna, or they rebel, like Merrill.

Any number of things could happen to get us a Seer companion.

Funny thing, but both Blackwall and Vivienne have backgrounds in Orlais, and prior to that, the Free Marches.

And they're companions with one of the most unpleasant working relationships in the group.

I guess I could work with a Seer, as long as she's face modeled and voiced by Janina Gavankar :P

Ideal voice acting for the KISA!

I'll go with Karen Gillian for the female. #stillrootingforStarkhaven

No it doesn't since I was meaning ex lovers/old flames and what not, Denarius was his rapist, makes it quite different in my book.

I wasn't being serious.

Christopher Sabat using a voice like Major Alex Louis Armstrong from the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise would be great for this.

People have said much odder while being serious on here hard to tell much for me to begin with when some one is joking, and only made harder over text. Sorry about that.
