Agreed. However saying things like 

isn't being constructive or saying what you wouldn't want in a character.

As Daveliam said, I think he's insufferable and condescending. As Eluvianus said, I think he's prejudiced. I've said in other threads that I think he's hypocritical and I think his ideas about the Fade, spirits and demons are stupid. All in all, well, I've already summed up what I think of him as a person. That said, I really enjoy and appreciate his character, (as well as the option to punch him). But ideally, I really don't want those qualities in my love interest. I get why others like him in that way, but they're obviously focusing on other aspects, interpreting the character differently and ultimately have a different world view to me. That's fine. But I probably wouldn't want to romance a Solassy KISA. 

 

What I DO want, is a nice, thick Welsh accent.

-Intelligence, but not condescension.

 

-Kindness, but not naivete

 

-Confidence, but not excessive hubris

 

-Unconscious ignorance, but not close mindedness.

Bioware isn't fond of re-using major NPC VO, but they really need a Keith David (and Gideon Emry) exception, i..e., that voice is so hot absolutely no one will ever complain about it being featured.

Yeah, I'm not really feeling Solas.  I like the idea of an erudite m/m option, but I'm glad that it wasn't Solas.  He becomes an insufferable, condescending jerk when you don't have high approval with him and, frankly, I don't agree with many of his stances.

I feel like that's true for several characters: Solas, Viv, Sera, Blackwall and Cassandra. 

 

I'm playing a true believer female dwarf, and am getting along swimmingly with Viv right now even if it is all for show on her part, and Solas hates me. 

 

I went from loving Sera and thinking she was oh so hilarious on my first playthough to wanting to see her nailed to the cross on my second playthough--she became THAT annoying to me.

I've never felt older.  I was a high school graduate when gargoyles came out, so I have no idea who those characters are.  I'll assume that they are awesome, though, since I tend to agree with all of your opinions.  Well, most of your opinions.

Also, I just googled it and it turns out I was a high school junior when it came out, so I'm not all that old. 

 

Anyway, gotta say that out of the 5 male LI's in this game, Solas is my least favorite.  He'd be the one that I'd least want to see similar to for the next m/m. 

 

For me, it'd go:   Cullen > Dorian > Blackwall > Iron Bull > Solas

With your post, I was more referring to the censored word than prejudiced. Just like how Potato Cat used the term dick. That's not constructive criticism of a character but just bashing one. And I'm not even a Solas fan.

You honestly need to watch the show. David Xanatos is one of the best villains around. Has a trope named after him. Multiple ones, in fact. Pretty dark for a cartoon from that time, too. But Greg Weisman is really good at making an all-ages Program that are also relatively mature.

I really need to re-watch Gargoyles some time. I've never seen the whole thing in order - Australian TV networks were not particular about the order in which they screened cartoons back in the nineties.

I've been thinking about personalized Armors for the KISA, actually. I really hope that in the next game they keep with this whole magic armor thing, insofar as how it decorates itself to suit its current wearer and their personality. 

 

For the male gay KISA, I'm still enthusiastic about a former Chevalier, so I'm imagining a subtle feather influence, and heavy golden armor with subtle flowing designs. Something elegant but imposing. 

 

For the female, I'm thinking wings. The whole Valkyrie thing is really on my mind there. I imagine her armor depicting wings and radiant arcs of fire, Fierce and warm in equal measure.

They are a pretty good piece. Not my personal favorite. It's a shame they have a pretty small range, only three places and one has to be a different direction than the other two. But the fact they can jump other pieces is really nice, especially to get powerful pieces trapped behind pawns.

I like both of these. I'm really into feathers and wings right now for some reason so both would be great with me. Probably. I think I'd rather these feathers and wings not be griffon and Grey Warden related.
