I could rock a Rivaini.

I was thinking on the other thread about limitations to how many companions a game can have, and the kind of companions writers may be restricted into creating in one game... all due to scope, time constraints, budgets, etc.
So the (dreaded) question...
If we're limited to one or two "knight in shining armour" companions, what or who would be your MUST HAVES and why?
You can only pick two archetypes at the most. Sorry guys.
If we were limited to two, I'd say that I'd like to see a Rock-Knocker KISA and a Nevarran Dragon Hunter KISA.

Rock-Knocker?
Dwarven knight.
...Actually, daveliam, describe the Rock Knocker again?
I could rock a Rivaini.

1. Avvar
2. Second Avvar
Dwarven knight.

Dang it. I can't read "Rock Knocker" without thinking of Rock Lobster. ![]()
Yeah, I'd have to go with Rock Knocker and Chevalier as well. A gay/bisexual Seeker would be nice, but the fate of that group is largely up in the air and seems to be dependent partially on player choice.

Fog Warrior and/or a Fex KISA.
Have you guys reached steadfast conclusions about who you would consider KISA characters in media generally? I see a lot of DA character discussion as well as extensive disagreement about potential KISAs but I haven't seen many positive affirmatively agreed upon examples.
I'm just kind of wondering if you guys really have a character in mind or that you are thinking of or it's more we hope Bioware does that part (which would be fine and alll)
Myself personally I think of different characters as being kind of KISAs but I doubt anyone would agree, such as (already mentioned) Tywin Lannister or even like Conan the Barbarian or something (just watched it again recently).
They aren't knights in shining armor, literally, but I think they have kind of a modern form of heroism where it isn't saturated with symbology and holiness like a traditional D&D Paladin or something.
Even someone like Aragorn seemed to have kind of wily scrappy sense to him but seemed motivated.
Aribeth on the other hand (at least non-DA) would be somewhat more difficult to classify in that category, because she wasn't necessarily just being extremely pragmatic when she turned blackguard she straight up sort of turned rogue completely, although I don't know, the turn in Hordes of the Underdark was pretty compelling I thought.
Picking a top two is more difficult than I imagined.
I guess...
1. Fog Warrior
2. Tevinter Gladiator
I'd personally would be very happy if those two were the same person, because I think it could be done in a way that doesn't detract from the focus on either of those aspects to their origin. They were a Fog Warrior, but their time as a Gladiator gives them an opportunity and a motivation to join the campaign.
Qunari lady blacksmith and Avvar or dwarf (if I got some kind of female qunari and maybe a rivaini seer as my non-KISA option I'm happy regardless of where option 2 comes from
)
It's a woman actually
Well that works for me too ![]()
Now I need Rivaini naval commander as a second choice candidate too ![]()

Wouldn't it be the opposite way around though, they'd start off as a Gladiator then become a Fog Warrior?

I think the reason why we haven't really been talking about who we personally see as a KISA is because, inevitably, someone will come in and argue that our examples clearly can't be KISA's because of x, y, & z. It just ends up being counterproductive and I think the discussion ends up being better when discussing hypotheticals.
That being said, I do have a few people in mind when I talk about it, so I don't mind sharing. If we are referencing GoT, I'm thinking more of a Brienne of Tarth type (although I personally want a guy KISA). Maybe even a Loras Tyrell type (although he's a little bland). That's the kind of m/m LI that I'd like to see, personally.

Loras the character is really bland. But I wouldn't mind someone who looks like Loras. Though honestly it's because I'm a fan of the curls.

I'm giving you a like but clarifying that the last thing I'd want to see is another m/m LI with shoulderlength hair. I find it super unappealing and both Anders and Zevran had it (my first two 'canon' LI's). Give me a Brienne of Tarth acting, but Jamie Lannister looking KISA anyday. Nikolai can get it. That dude is FIIIIIIIIIIINE.

How would a Fog warrior work, by the by? Does anyone know what they look like- qunari? Humans? A mixture of both? I haven't read much about them since there seems to be so little... or I just wasn't paying attention.
It was sort of difficult to pick my top two, one of the reasons being is that it was an issue of what would I want to see versus what's really popular in this thread (Rock Knocker seems to be right at the top of the list).
So... I'll be picking just one.
A part of me will always be hung up on the anti-heroes of sorts- and yeah, I get that this is sort of counteracting the whole "knight in shining armour" schtick.
I like to think that while you and your rag-tag team of companions are out doing God-knows-what, you have a knight hounding you for about a third or half the game, because he thinks that you are in the wrong, not him. Not holier-than-thou, Andraste-(or-whatever-holy-figure)-is-with-me him. Belonging to a faction your group opposes for whatever reason, the faction in turn see you as, well, shitty people. Mostly because of whatever you decided, no matter what, in the story that was reprehensible to them.
This knight thinks the same way. **** goes down, they're captured, they reluctantly spend time in your company in chains learning about you more, and sort of wants to understand now why you guys did what you had to do, while trying to reconcile the thoughts and beliefs their side held.
And also trying to explain that their head of the union isn't exactly bad... but since thinking that they're dead or expendable, they're starting to question if their leader is all that sane to begin with.
So yes, a Knight. At a crossroads with his faith and alliances. After having antagonised you for a part of the story before they become a companion- which would probably lead to some dramatic responses from the other companions all things considered.
...That, or you could exile/kill them off.

Definitely in agreement. It's extremely difficult for me to find a man with hair below his ears attractive. As in "must be Chris Hemsworth" difficult. Even then, he looks so much better with short hair
...Uhm. -looks at current knight sketch- ...Whups.
For me, it really depends on how guys pull it off and if it suits them or not. I remember, as a kid, that the whole "curtains" hair many pretty boys had in the 90s/early 2000s did it for me real good (and after Google-image searching it, not so much nowadays). Zelda: Ocarina of Time was among the first games I played and adult Link singlehandedly threw any doubts about my sexuality out the window. It was probably the hair.
Granted, it's not shoulder length, but...
I also hate long hair. My Hawke would have cut that stupid little ponytail of Anders off in his sleep.

Spoiler

As someone who was rocking that mid-90's haircut at the time, I cannot stress how much that style needed to die a horrible death. What were we thinking? Ugh.
