Captain America is definitely more my type, and I'm generally not fond of long hair on guys, but I certainly wouldn't argue with some quality time with Thor's arms, regardless of the hair attached to the head. I mean you've seen them, right? Those are good arms to have.

Also more into Chris Evans. Don't get the Chris Hemsworth thing at all actually. Or any of the Hemsworths. Or Ryan Gosling. Or that one with the face.

I was like twelve when I read my first Thor comic. That crush predates Hemsworth.
Still, Hemsworth doesn't hurt.

I'm actually surprised no one's mentioned Iron Man, yet.
I wasn't going to, though.
...I guess we're moving onto fan-casting now and which knight could look like which actor/actress/singer/songwriter/model?
In that case, Dennis Oh for Penitent Knight, because that expressive mug on that fox-faced man could be an interesting contrast to an otherwise dour character.
EDIT; I haven't seen him act, though. Whups.

I'm not going to lie. The hair is a huge turn off. I really can't get past it. Especially since he's opposite Captain America in the Avengers movies so it's really easy to overlook him. Don't get me wrong: muscled blond do-gooder is about the most perfect thing. But adding long curly hair to that? Not my thing.
On the one hand, I do get how you feel (because I'm like that about most facial hair). But on the other hand, I'd be totally cool with Thor even if he was sporting the most comical stache you can imagine.

If we're crushing on Cap I've got to say my favourite scene is that one in Winter Soldier where he's coming out of the (bathroom? closet?) when him and Widow are at Falcon's house. He can really rock those form fitting T-shirts.

Talking about extraordinarily hot people in the Avengers and nobody's mentioned Banner.
Did nobody else see the chest hair or shower scene or those sad lumberjack eyes?
Honestly, the Avengers are just wall-to-wall hotness. And adding Paul Bettany as something other than a disembodied voice has not hurt their overall temperature at all ...
(I mean, his disembodied voice is also lovely, but I am happy to see him on screen!)

It was perfect!
Paul Bettany was perfect.
And the way they played it, with his beautiful, gentle voice and then his perfect, pensive eyes and expressiveness.
I was crushing so hard, I cannot tell you.
My perfect KISA would be like that. Powerful, martial excellence meets cerebral, philosophical forethought. They would be a big picture type of person, but with a gentle and poetic spirit.
...And Paul Bettany would be a very acceptable VA option. ![]()

Yes!

I know the odds of us getting an all star cast are next to nonexistent, but maybe one or two big names...Not so unprecedented.

So, this is something that I've seen tossed around in many a romance related thread. I figured I'd make a thread for it so that people who would like to see a gay knight in shining armor could consolidate their thoughts.
Regarding the archetypes of the LI's we've had up to this point, the gay knight in shining armor is one that has yet to be explored. The idea of a strong, virtuous, noble human warrior with strong morals has only been made available for opposite sex romance. (Alistair, Cullen, Blackwall, and Cassandra). They tend to have a 'cute' and somewhat awkward quality about them concerning romance and the PC is implied to be one of (if not their only) romantic partners. It tends to make them seem more "innocent."
EDIT POST LAUNCH: Boy, was I wrong about Blackwall. Lol.
Although Aveline isn't a LI, she is also an example of a straight character who fits the knight in shining armor archetype.
Meanwhile, characters available for same sex romance tend to be roguish characters who have a dark streak and/or questionable morals, and tend to be promiscuous. They tend to have a "bad boy/girl" or "edgy" quality to them. (Leliana, Zevran, Isabela, Anders, Fenris, Iron Bull, Sera). Note that this is not necessarily a bad thing, as grayness tends to make for interesting characters.
I would just like for things to be switched up from time to time.
So this is a thread asking for a strong, morally noble (not necessarily of noble status, but that would be good too) gay warrior. (Male and female would be great.)
Note: Although we know very little about the DA:I companions at this point, and it may be a bit premature to categorize them in such a way, I am making this thread now because it is a good time for suggestions to be made, since presumably the next DA game is in an early enough stage where new ideas can be put forward and possibly implemented.
I am not complaining here. I am happy with the fact that I have two guys to romance (Dorian and Bull) but I would like to see the archetypes of the LIs change up a bit in the next game.
It seems curious to me the KISA ideal is considered valid and interesting but so are the dark streak promiscuous types...so it's not like people are saying the KISA is so much more interesting an archetype or something...
..I guess the idea is there are a lot of homosexuals out there that are basically just like the non-promiscuous KISA archetype, and also homosexual, that is the correct interpretation out there right? The desire to represent all the homosexuals who are personality/behavior wise pretty much identical to the traditional KISA but also happen to be homosexual.

In a manner of speaking, wanting to see more queer characters as these paragons of "hero" type protagonists and companions, alongside the "edgier" ones who are portrayed more in comparison, yes.
Or some of us buy into the whole Disney thing and would totes want the Valiant Knight crossed with a Prince/Princess Charming to appear on a shining steed and get a happily ever after...
Then finally, we'll all be like "WHERE THE **** HAVE YOU BEEN?! DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT HAS TAKEN YOU!?".
Or something like that.

I think it's about variety. This is a trope that they (the writers) clearly enjoy writing since there have been several of them (in variation) throughout the series. Some of us (gay men and lesbians) also enjoy that trope as a character type. In fact many of the regulars in the thread enjoy it more than the dark, broody, and/or promiscuous type that most of the s/s options fall into. I think it's about challenging the writers to: 1. flip the trope by having a KISA be gay instead of straight; 2. recognize that there's an audience for this type of story; and 3. be more creative in the diversity of the s/s LIs in this (and other) Bioware series. It seems curious to me the KISA ideal is considered valid and interesting but so are the dark streak promiscuous types...so it's not like people are saying the KISA is so much more interesting an archetype or something...

I think I was specifically asking whether this was for representation of homosexuals who personality wise were non-dark streaky non-promiscuous types of people, not really whether it was just something people just "wanted to see" or whether it was trope flipping, being creative in diversity etc. Those are different things to me.

I think it's all of the above. People want to see gay characters who fit into this trope, which flips the trope in a unique way and creates diversity in gay representation.
If you're question is what is the primary driving point for the thread, I think sandal is best to answer since he's the OP. From my perspective, it's a little bit of wanting to see a variety in gay representation and a little bit of just being ready for a KISA of my own.

I guess I can think that the homosexual out there (or here in this thread) who is basically a non-gray non-promiscuous overly "noble" KISA wanting to see a character like them makes sense. I couldn't help but notice that reading between the lines most people here are more like wanting to see someone else make that character for them to "create" diversity and these kinds of reasons, not that sort of more personal motivation. Like what does "being ready for a KISA of my own," actually mean? You are yourself a homosexual KISA and want to finally have that represented or your not and curious what it might look like? That kind of thing...
I'm being somewhat pointed but that's partially because frankly I'm not sure how valid reasons are when disconnected from that personal motive and translated into a mere abstracts, hence all the arguing in the thread about what constitutes a KISA and stuff.
