Huh, I've always wanted to sleep with a Champion...question is, do we give him Cassandra's accent?
Her VA has to teach them the accent first lol

I had forgotten that the VA and the DA vocal team together basically invented the Nevarran accent.
Also, she might have to anyhow, or at least help advise future VAs. The chances of us ending up in Nevarra to one degree or another is very high.

They should try that for the other countries we haven't really heard from yet like the Anderfels, it's interesting to create your own accent

Agreed. I think little touches like that help make one fantasy story stand out from others.

So..... what if there were two KISA companions. Rivals to each other. A Pentaghast who is a dragon hunter and a Van Markham who is a knight or warrior. Both are bound to their family and genuinely want to see their family come out on top, but their views are conflicting since each sees the other side as the "villains" in the scenario. Either both are party members and you have to juggle their loyalty throughout the questline. Or maybe they are mutually exclusive companions: which one joins you is determined by which family you support.
This could also give us our dragon hunter KISA as well as a KISA of the other gender as well. If it were up to me, I'd personally like the dragon hunter to be a gay man, who because of his sexuality and place in the succession line, doesn't feel obligated to perform as a noble (reproductively), thus freeing himself up to devote himself to your cause. The Van Markham could be a female (bisexual or lesbian?) who was his childhood friend, but they eventually became estranged as the families quarreled. Perhaps she could have an elder sibling or two, so it wouldn't seem conflicting with noble duty if she was a f/f romance option. Or perhaps she'd be like Alistair, where you enter into the romance knowing that you would always be the "Briala" to her "Celene"?
You tickled my creative mind... I now have a complete picture of the Nevarran Dragonslayer gay dude KISA and a blonde gay lady KISA in my head and I want to draw them T.T

Oh please do it and show us the results if you can. Now I'm quite curious.

You're already several steps ahead of me, I'm sure.
Don't worry, I'm not going to judge your art skills. I just want to see what your mind cooked up.

I always assumed they made up the accent to reflect the fact Cassandra was raised in Nevarra but has spent most of her life in Orlais. So really, all they need to do is work out what other than French is in Cass' accent.

I kept thinking Romanian. Or at least Eastern European. That's a funny one.

Oh, wow. Male dragon hunter with a Romanian or Eastern European accent. That would be really cool.

Yes. In Soviet Nevarra, Fade rift seals you.
Actually, that would be pretty hot... A deep, resonating, slightly hoarse, gruff, Eastern European accented brogue commanding you to put your weapon down unless you want him to cut you because you're on enemy territory and you can't but think "Okay, strangely attractive knight, I'll submit without thinking."
I'm not sure how familiar you are with a Romanian accent but I'm not sure it would be as great as you might expect.
I admit, I'm not very good at detecting Romanian accents (or any accent from that region, anyway), and I can only slightly remember any attempt at them from television or film excluding Dracula- and even then, they're most likely poorly executed.
I had to youtube a couple of videos on Romanian-accented English just to hear for myself.
+1 point for the Yakov Smirnov joke
+1 point all around for the idea of a gay dragon hunter with an eastern European accent
This thread continues to deliver.

It sounds vaguely Eastern European to me. Like it's from that region, but had any identifiers for a particular place smoothed out, which possibly makes sense for someone who has traveled a lot. (Not that I'm an expert or anything.)
I figure if they expanded the Nevarran cast they'd either pick similar real world accents, or just double down and go Russian. It's not like there's any shortage of those in video games either.
Actually, I personally think it would be better if the darker F/F option was female only. And I don't have my heart set on Yavana, she was just on my mind earlier because someone brought her up in the companion wish list thread.
My ideal would be more like a cross between Morrigan and Vivienne, at least in terms of attitude.
I'm just not rooting for that in particular too fervently, because I have absolutely no idea how they could implement that an LI, or whether they should after Morrigan and Vivienne already happened.
Been away from the forums for a bit so just catching up. Yavana isn't someone I'd personally want as an LI. Also considering

Now I'm imagining Tommy Wiseau as the KISA.
As for people considering Yavana's death to be of the perma variety, I personally don't think it's absurd to think she couldn't also have had a horcrux. Especially since Yavana, like Flemeth, has existed for centuries. Even then, no reason to not introduce another Witch of the Wilds from elsewhere in Thedas.
That's very true - I was just thinking more of people screaming "RETCON!!" at the devs.
Leliana and Morrigan could both have been killed (seemingly) prior to DA:I, very true. Not to mention others. I just imagine a character that was killed by the writers themselves would be more open to accusations of sloppy writing. But, OTOH, perhaps not - easier to get around than nixing player choices.
I personally just didn't warm to her/like her the way I did Morrigan and even their mother. Mind you, the fact the other two were in games made it "easier" to convey their characters.

Maybe so, but I thought Flemeth could do it cause she's basically all spirit anyway, no? Especially with Mythal.

We never got an explanation about what it was that made it so that Flemeth could physically reconstruct herself if the HOF killed her off. It might be tied with some soul-related magic. But it could simply be that elves were great at building clone bodies.

I think it might be Mythal linked, if only for the fact Merrill resurrected Flemeth with an elven ritual. Obviously, it could just be because the elves developed this magic, but still. And I firmly believe that with all Flemythal's contingency plans, and the fact that Yavana has existed for so long already, Yavana is out there, or at least, other Witches. I don't think she can be so easily slain or she would have already been killed off years ago.
And I do think she could make for an interesting F/F romance. Just as a good, KISA would make for an interesting change for both sides, so would an explicitly darker option. So far on the F/F side, we've had firmly 'neutral' characters like Isabela and Sera and 'good' characters like Josephine, (I'd say Leliana and Merrill are potentially harder to define with these terms, but there's no way they can be considered 'evil'), so a dark F/F option in whatever capacity would certainly be interesting. Whether or not someone like Yavana is what's desired by players of F/F content is debatable of course, whether she's in the form of some dark mage, scheming assassin or a black knight character. I've heard a lot (and I mean a LOT) of F/F players express their desire for a Cassandra, an Aveline, an Amazon, a qunari, a general strong warrior woman type as their LI. We all know how disappointed people were when they announced Cassandra was not available for a F/F romance after all. But the majority of personality talk I've read, or at least read and paid enough attention to, was in this thread so obviously the discussion was more geared towards the type of KISA they'd want rather than generally the kind of personality they'd be interested in.
And now I've rambled enough to forget what I was originally going to say. I don't know, probably something Yavana related, possible plot lines and ways they could develop her to make her stand out against Flemeth and Morrigan. It was probably going to have been totally insightful and amazing you'd all agree with my ideas of course. ![]()

If they did that, I could imagine the developers would be going:

Turian plus Asari dance animation = win.

I see what you're saying. Sorry if you thought I was bashing Yavana - I truly wasn't.
Just pointing out that people get irked at BioWare for undoing the dead thing. ![]()
It's true that we haven't had anyone truly "dark" as an LI option. Morrigan, to me, is sort of a Chaotic-Neutral personality at most. I personally don't believe she's a bad person, and I think anyone would be hard pressed to call her evil. Isabela is morally grey on the whole, whereas Leliana and Merrill are fundamentally good but can be ambiguous in how they go about their goals and whether ends justify the means.
For me as one who plays F/F romances, I'm open to the idea. I find the KISA idea fascinating, but my PCs are almost always pretty much within that scope themselves. Although I'd have loved Aveline or Cassandra as options myself. The ambiguous or neutral types like Leliana and Isabela do suit my characters. Leliana in Origins did have a vulnerable quality to her romance - she's no damsel in distress, but you could have broken her heart. Helping her love and trust again suited my virtuous hero down to the ground.
Despite that, I did wish I could have romanced Morrigan, purely because she is that little bit more morally ambiguous. She ended up being my Warden's best friend, but in all honesty if it weren't for Origins' ridiculous bribery gift system, she probably would have stormed off!
But I was drawn to her, and even though getting her approval through my actions alone was difficult, the subsequent dialogue and interactions were satisfying. The end of Witch Hunt was pretty emotional. Someone of a darker nature would certainly be an interesting challenge.
Hey, remember back when this thread first got started and we talked a bit about "The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived"? It was the children's story about the knight who saves a prince and princess and then shows even more bravery when he declares his love for the prince instead of the princess. Well, guess what just showed up on Hulu......?
