I wish he has removed Danse's hat. It's once of the most hideous things I've ever seen.

Aw, I love Kaidan though.
Same here. He still tops Danse (and looks better IMO too...) But FallOut 4 has that "Uncanny Valley" feel that doesn't help.

He made my ME1 experience bearable. And I hated a lot of things about that game. Kaidan wasn't one of those things I hated. He's like the Carver of ME, but he's not my younger brother (Carver and Kaidan both made games much more bearable to play.)

Too bad I couldn't romance him in ME1, would have been nice. It takes 3 games just to get Kaidan to be a romance option and he was just a cut portion for femShep, so I guess while he's my top Bioware, it just feels a bit cheap for me.
What are people top 5 anyway?
1. Danse
2. Kaidan
3. Alistair
4. Cullen
5. Anders
I do seem to have a type though.

I've had my first Danse flirt, and I get it. He's slightly more open and warm nown and it's a pleasant transition to witness. It's just strange though, because this is a recurring thing for me. I keep gravitating toward romances with characters I have huge idealogical disagreements with. I really can't believe I ended up deciding on someone who stands around saying things like, "There's the Brotherhood, and there's everything else. There's nothing in between."
At least I'm big on weapon crafting, so he's pretty fond of my character anyway, despite how coy I am about Brotherhood ideals.
And really, I don't see anyone I like more. The characters I really tend to have a like-minded rapport with are never romanceable.

I like my Danse much better. Danse looks a lot better once you take him out of his armor.
While the organization is a bigot, he has a lot of embodiment of what a KISA is. He's stoic, strong, and stand for the weak. He would get angry if you hurt the innocent (as long as they're humans, of course). It's just that his teaching that tell him ghouls and synths are not humans. If Fallout world doesn't have ghouls and synth, he would be the perfect KISA if you think about it.
Maybe I'm just a fan of broken characters, hoping to be able to heal them.
He's a lot like DA2 Cullen.
What outfit is he wearing under the armor?

My list:
1. Kaidan
2. Cullen (had he been a M/M option)
3. Danse (he's just not all that fleshed out as a character but I like the type. I don't want to over-rate him just because its new and fresh.)
4. Alistair (he's a bit immature for my taste)
5. Fenris - (just to complete the list.)

I'm loving Fallout 4 like many of you here.
I definitely consider Danse to be a KISA. Yes, he takes a rather harsh stance on non-humans, but I really enjoy him as a character. His look, his voice, his personality, his steadfast beliefs in a cause, his approval when the player shows initiative and a willingness to help others- it all works well for me. Looks like Bethesda beat BioWare to the punch when it comes to Gay/Bisexual KISAs. Who would have thought!
As an aside, I really like the Fallout 4 companions. Danse, Piper, Preston, Hancock, and Codsworth are my favorites.
Of course, there isn't the BioWare level of interaction with them, but I'm okay with what Bethesda did with them.
What outfit is he wearing under the armor?
Elder Maxson's coat. I assume this is a PC mod? I can't get Danse out of his power armor on PS4.

As I don't have any intention of buying FO4, I found this gaythrough (can I coin that?) of the Danse romance.
HA! "gaythrough" is one of my new favorite terms! I'm totally stealing that!
Same here. He still tops Danse (and looks better IMO too...) But FallOut 4 has that "Uncanny Valley" feel that doesn't help.
"[Kaidan] still tops Danse"........

Yay! Glad you are enjoying it sandal!
Yeah, Beth beat Bioware to the gay KISA, but there's still so much more that Bioware can do with it. As we've all stated, the Beth romances are pretty weak. Although Danse's voice and rugged looks are worth it.

Yes, I am!
Not just romance content, I wish there was more companion content in general in Fallout 4. I'm happy with what's there, like I said, but hopefully it carries over into the next Elder Scrolls. Now THAT I would love. Having Elder Scrolls followers with this level of attention given to them.
I'm really getting my hopes up for DA4 now. It's really far off, but seeing Danse makes it real now. It really is possible to have a KISA companion in a game who isn't straight. You can do it too BioWare! I still have faith.

This also happened to me with other characters (thanks MacCready for drawing attention to me after I was sneakily trying to steal from a safe...).
I think major conversations would have been better off being quest related and at times that didn't kill immersion. Also Piper for example idolized me after I knew her for maybe 3 in-game days since I pick a lot of locks. I am happy there is relationship development but the system is a far cry from BioWare.
One thing both companies can improve on is making relationships more two-way. I still cringe at the Alistair romance for a noble warden when he is sad over Duncan's death and then glosses over that my entire family was murdered. I guess at least he mentions it - but most romances are far more interested in talking about themselves than hearing PCs backstory.

One of my issues with Beth's romances in FallOut 4 is that they happen at the most Inopportune time. I was in the middle of a dungeon and did something Danse liked, and he stopped me for a conversation (with a flirt option). It was a little absurd that we would have a heart-to-heart standing on top of several raider bodies and while supposedly trying not to alert more enemies in the middle of a settler rescue attempt.

Haha! Yeah, just earlier today Hancock stopped me after I fast traveled to the Slog to help defend the people there from an attack by gunners. Right in the middle of the shoot out Hancock initiates conversation, locking me in place and preventing me from moving with a "Hey got a minute?"
UM NO NOW'S NOT A GOOD TIME BUDDY!!!
LMAO.
You make a good point about romances being a two way thing. I definitely want to see the companions asking my character what he thinks, how he feels, etc.

I don't know, i love stuff like that. I was on a roof with Cait and she started a conversation and fawned over me. And then a Brotherhood Vertibird just hovers over and starts a firefight with some Mutants. It adds to the world imo, but it can also be quite annoying.
On topic of the romances, they aren't as fleshed out as Bioware romances, but its Beths first try and it works fine so far. I like it. Also gives me some replay value and adds another element to my roleplaying.

I'm not far enough in the story to finish the Danse romance but I still have no idea how I'm going to handle Piper. I obviously want to romance Danse but don't think it's right to have them take turns providing Lovers Comfort bonuses and I like my house in Sanctuary too much to want to not have all my favorite people around.
If I was a better person I would let this dilemma create replay value but I don't have the time for multiple 300 hour playthroughs. So I guess I'll just be a player.

You can have concurrent romances? Do certain companions break up if the PC isn't monogamous or is that not part of the romance mechanics?
You can have multiple romances at once yes. As far as i've seen there is no jealousy between people you romance. Could be that if you flirt with one in front of another it can cause a dislike or something like that. Other than that you are free to romance as many companions as you want.
I like it. I don't think i would ever make use of it, but it leaves it up to the player. Ofc they could also have added companion conversation for this and maybe some of them had been ok with it etc. It could have had more depth.
