There is a glitch that make him nonselectable and you can only open the trade menu with him if you side against the BoS after the Blind Betrayal quest. If you want to keep him after the ending, you have to choose either BoS or Minutemen.
Synth doesn't age, and they can't reproduce. He has a shut down code just as every other synth, but they never say anything about that. Although it shouldn't matter because his code wouldn't exist anymore if you side with either BoS or Minutemen and he's not available if you side with the Institute. It's a bit weird to be honest, 40 years into the future. You're an old man while Danse will look the same as always. What would he do once you're gone? Most likely, he will just move on with his life. I always imagine my character would probably download his brain into a synth or something, so we could be together forever. lol, although I would imagine my character and Danse will have to escape the Commonwealth since the BoS would hunt us down everywhere.
Yeah, as much as I love to look at Danse, he's a little too........zealot-y for my liking. Don't get me wrong, I still romanced the hell out of him on my first go around, but now he just walks around Sanctuary Hills and I only use him to get the "Lover's Embrace" perk when I sleep there.
My new guy is MacReady. He's not nearly as hot as Danse and he's a total jerk at first, but I like him better for my PC. Haven't actually finished the romance with him yet, but I did just help him with his personal quest, so I'm expecting it soon.
While Danse is a jerk to non-humans, MacCready is a jerk to almost everyone. He likes stealing, and disapproves if you help people like giving out stuffs for free, save a dying beggar. He also hates synth, and he wants to kill Danse if you bring him along on Blind Betrayal. He disapproves if you decide to spare Danse. Danse cares about defenseless humans, but MacCready only cares about people he knows.
All the actions in relation to humans show that Danse is a very caring person, and he would be willing to die to save his subordinates as well. His zealot attitude is just something that he was led to believe. I like that he's not a perfect person. He has his own issues and get annoyed if you flirt with other people around him if you already confessed to him. ![]()
What I like the most about him is his loyalty, even though the people he trusted betrayed and want to kill him, he would still believe in them and wants to help them from the shadows. I just really like that kind of devotion. He has nobody to turn to after being disowned. I just can't seem to abandon him since you're basically all he had and he told you that as well.
Although I find a romance with Danse and a romance with MacCready are different. With Danse, there's an air of maturity and protective around it, with MacCready, it's more cute and adorable.

Basically, he has inhuman stamina. Nuff said.

Especially with how MacCready promised his son not to swear. When you have him as your companion sometimes he's about to swear, but stops and says something else instead. That little part of him made me like him even more. ![]()
there haven't been nearly enough Danse screenshots today yet... just sayin'

The only time I recall him cussing is when he leaves you forever. It was hard to watch though. I kinda like how much he cares about his kid. I kinda feel a bit attached to Shaun as well. Maybe my character should set a play date between my kid and MacCready.
I like how manly Danse looks in this picture

Power Puff Danse

Maxson needs to learn how to share, he makes poor Danse sad.
I feel like Danse looks the best when he's frowning, not that he knows any other expressions.

If only we could kiss our companion, the kiss with power armor Danse would be pretty awkward considering how tall he is.

This comic seems pretty sweet:

I like KISA Danse, but business suit Danse is not so bad either.

Basically, he has inhuman stamina. Nuff said.
I need to start thinking of safety words then.

How about either "Yes, Elder Maxson!" or "Pound away, you supermutant hunk!"
Don't forget about Deacon, guys!
I thought he wasn't romanceable?
WTF! You're right, he isn't. That's... that's just terrible!

Or Nick Valentine, there's a lot of love for the good old detective on Tumblr.

I was all set to like MacCready. I kind of still do, but he's soured me.
He's ever so desperate to find a cure for his son's illness, and I helped him out. Great. So then when we're in Vault 81 and little vault-dweller Austin gets sick and we go searching for the cure for him, freaking MacCready DISAPPROVES when I give the vault doctor the vaccine for Austin. I literally facepalmed and shouted WTF out loud. Are you serious, MacCready? Are you freaking serious right now??!

I think it's because MacCready dislikes charitable acts, he likes it when the sole survivor takes rather than gives. He approves when you ask for more money when helping people, stealing, and when you pick the angry/rude dialogue options. That is annoying though, I didn't have him with me when I did Vault 81.

And yet the strategy guide states that he likes it when you help children and parents. Or was it the Wiki?
Regardless, the hypocrisy of that particular dislike is astounding. In a fit of pique, I kicked MacCready's ass to the curb when Curie asked if she could accompany me after the quest was over.
Since Danse is relevant to this thread's topic, how would you all feel about a hypothetical DA4 KISA not getting along well with the majority of the other companions?
Whether it be through personality, or beliefs like Danse, or some other reason? Does a KISA have to be a nice guy/girl to everyone? Can a KISA be a bit of a jerk?
@London, yes Austin is a child. I may end up running into the same problem with Deacon. I like him, but I wonder how things will go down if we are on opposing sides but his approval is high.

It could be a subversion of sorts, a twist to the typical KISA. Someone who is a virtuous paragon of goodness to the common people, but for whatever reason does not click with the other companions on a personal level. Maybe they are super awkward in social situations, or are abrasive or too blunt, or for whatever reason don't or can't get along well with others, but they are sweet towards the romancing PC.
I think Cassandra kind of touches on this with her interactions with Varric. So imagine that, except it extends to the majority of the companion cast.

Good idea!

So, basically a gay Blackwall?
