So, basically a gay Blackwall?

Hmm.. I suppose so, but with Blackwall, it's mostly the other companions poking at him with sticks (Vivienne, Dorian) or disliking him for his cover up identity (Cassandra and Solas).   He's more aloof than anything else. I wouldn't say he's a jerk.

it's hard with the DA:I characters because if they go through their banter they all get along well in the end

Anyone actually romance Hancock as their main LI? Not as a side relationship, but headcanon him as their husbando over guys like sexy bear and MacCready?

Maybe I'm just shallow, but I just can't get pass his look. :(

I like him as a friend, but as he said, he wouldn't wish waking next to his smug on his worst enemies. He's very charismatic, but the leather skin really ruins it. If someone human looking with the personality of Hancock, I would be all over him. MacCready is adorable as well, but nothing can beat my love for Danse at the moment. What I like about Danse is how awkward he is around other people that it's kinda adorable. He's a jerk with a heart of gold.

Basically, how I would rank them:

1. Danse: Jerk with a heart of gold

2. MacCready: Adorable and fluffy. Put people who care about above all else, don't care about strangers.

3. Hancock: Sarcastic bastard. I feel like I would laugh everyday if I'm with him

4. Garvey: I find drying paints that are more interesting than him.

In term of female characters:

1. FemShep: She has a tragic past, but she tries to rise above all else and don't let it get her down. She's a realist and see the world for what it is.

2. Piper: She sees the world through rose tinted glass, believing too much in goodness of others.

3. Curie: Too single minded, and she doesn't think about consequence or question anyone at all. She supports the BoS, despite knowing they want to destroy her. She only sees the immediate goodness of something and don't worry about long term consequences.

Yeah, Garvey isn't the most interesting ever... He's hardly noticeable compared to the other companions. And I want a Male LI in the next game to have MacCreadies and Hancocks combined traits. He'd be scarscatic most of the time, but has a adorable and fluffy romace..... OMG, I justed listed Alistair pretty much. I think I have Alistair on the brain....

I was thinking about who I should cross Danse with, but I just can't think of any. lol. What I want in the next game is another with Danse but less of an ass to everyone, although part of the reason why I like him is how frank and awkward he is toward everyone. If you take away his jerk attitude then Danse is similar to MacCready since his romance is pretty fluffy as well and he always says really adorable lines like how he likes how close to you are to him atm. MacCready and Hancock would be interesting. Yeah, Hancock is not the romantic type, so if he's more fluffy, he would be a lot better as a LI. That's a part of Hancock character though, he's a screwup and he knows it, the becomes a ghoul because he can't stand himself in the mirror. Alistair is what happen when you cross Hancock and Garvey. Look at Garvey, you and him are the last two members of them of the organization, he's the senior but make you the leader instead because he wants to follow instead of lead, and you and he are on a quest to rebuild the organization back up. Where have you heard of that before? With Hancock sarcasm, and maybe MacCready's fluffy romance, you get Alistair. Cullen is basically Danse but has more social skill, I guess. I'm a bit disappointed with the female options in this game to be honest.

Why are all of Bioware guys I want to romance are not romanceable? lol

DAO Alistair

ME1-2: Kaidan

DAI: Cullen

It's not a dig at you; I'm just disappointed. I used a mod to make Alistair romanceable as a guy, but I know it's not canon and he keeps referring to me as a girl. lol

Despite Bioware being one of the few companies that do m/m romances, I find their romances to be stereotypical in term of archetype and how they make certain characters of certain sexual orientation.

The next game is in Tevinter, so they focus may be on mages, I have a feeling there would be more mages, but I really want a mage male LI. Still, as much as I love Alistair, I don't want literally Alistair in the next DA game, especially from the same series. a ME Alistair would be cool. Dorian is a sarcastic mage, but I just can't get into his gay storyline, it's just so typical. I know that it may help people who struggle with it, but it has been done over and over and over again many many times.

I just realize how often I talk to Danse and MacCready randomly. I like to hear how much they love me, everytime I bring them with me. It's basically the random kiss version of DAO. In DAI, after the cutscene, and a set kiss location, there is really nothing you can do to your LI. In ME2, you can invite them to hang out in your cabin.

Mine is probably

Yeah, I played ME1. I was obessed with it as a child. I loved the way I could create characters and I like diaglous, but it isn't the same as DAO to me. Keep in mind, I played both games the same time and ME was a mega huge culture change to me.

Yeah, I am. Even though he was a bratt as a kid. I like MacCready and Hancock. I adore the two. Danse is a huge pretty boy to me.... But then again, so was Cullen and i like him too.

Danse is a pretty boy? I think Kaidan is a pretty boy, Danse is ruggedly handsome. He's more Blackwall than anything since he has an air of maturity around him. He's stubborn as Hell though. This is why me and other posters believe Danse having a smooth chest is a disservice. He looks like someone with a hairy sex. I guess he could be metrosexual. lol

Wait, so what's your excuse for not playing Fallout 4 again? :P J/k, since I thought you prefer medieval theme games instead of futuristic shooter games. How do you know about young MacCready? Did you play FO games before? I'm confused. lol

You like Hancock as a character or as a LI option? I like his personality as a LI, but do you want to wake up everyday next to Hancock's face? I'm just doing this in term of roleplaying, I don't think my character would want to be with Hancock. There is no polygamy as people claim because your LI will be jealous whenever you flirt with other people, so they're not approved of that. Bethesda just didn't care to include complication and in the name of freedom of choices, I guess.

Chest hair is a natural part of the body. I don't think it's really that repulsive. lol, it has nothing to do with sex or nudity. certain groups are prone to have more than other. I just think Danse looks like a group that have it, but I'll stop now. :P

Yeah, kid MacCready is a brat. At least he grows up to be a nicer person.

Whenever I wake up and hear Danse says, "Do you know you talk in your sleep?" it just melts me. lol

Bioware may have more development for their companions, but what I like about Beth is the little personal touch they give to their characters, like waking up next to them and how they tell you how much they love you. I would have loved if they have recorded more lines though. :D

Since Danse is relevant to this thread's topic, how would you all feel about a hypothetical DA4 KISA not getting along well with the majority of the other companions?

Whether it be through personality, or beliefs like Danse, or some other reason?   Does a KISA have to be a nice guy/girl to everyone?  Can a KISA be a bit of a jerk?

@London, yes Austin is a child.   I may end up running into the same problem with Deacon.  I like him, but I wonder how things will go down if we are on opposing sides but his approval is high.

I wouldn't mind a KISA not getting along with all companions, but as you've pointed out, we already have some of those. Sebastian was thought boring and a prude by Varric and Isabella, and Merrill and Anders didn't seem to like his constant preaching and anti-mage stance. I think Aveline just tolerated him but didn't take him seriously. Only Fenris really likes him. And Bethany if they're in Legacy or MotA together. And Cassandra does have a tense history with Varric, though I wouldn't say she's disliked by anyone.

Honestly, I will be selfish and say that if we finally do get a gay KISA, it will be a slap in the face that they're actually rude to other companions or not well liked. It will probably be Bioware trying to subvert tropes and expectations, but to me it will come across as "you've been bugging us for a gay KISA? Well how do you like this one?" I don't need one to be perfect, that would be as boring as Sebastian, but they can be more than a one dimensional white knight without falling into another cliche of arrogant knight who is not actually as noble or honorable as they claim.

Yeah I'm surprised they actually did a full ghoul romance. Maybe a fling like that singer, but actually making one of the ghoul companions romanceable? I wish they would have actually had some conversations about what it would be like to have a ghoul for a significant other, rather than just saying "I can't believe you want to wake up next to this face." It seems very handwaved and unrealistic. For a post-apocalyptic shooter RPG...

But I can dig the nerd!Cready. Maybe I can stuff his tie in his mouth to help prevent him from swearing

Sebastian is a spoiled brat who is more Prince Charming than KISA. He proposed a chaste marriage despite how promiscuous he was before joining it just seems fake to me personally. He's not a knight, and he has an air of regal around him rather than an air of a knight.

I wouldn't oppose to a rude KISA. You can see by how much I love Danse. lol, as if it's not obvious enough. Going by the classic KISA, they are the sexist, chauvinistic, self-righteous people who believe in their authority and dominance over people. Except for the sexist part, Danse fits this bill 100%, he looks down on Piper and sees her as nothing more than a civilian and get angry at things he finds wrong according to his own moral code by the knight code. On the other hand, he would lay down his own life to protect the weak and protect his own subordinate. His soldiers even said so as much. He also very stoic and focus on being a knight. Yeah, it's not as simple as saying whether you like or dislike a KISA who does not get along with others, but you have to look at the reason why they don't get along. Considering the people you hang out with, a mercenary, a thief, a bunch of synths, civilian, super mutant, etc. Do you think he could get along well with this ragtag bunch of misfits?

I don't see why they need to make a big deal about it. A ghoul is basically a human with terrible skin, something Hancock is very self conscious about. His romance is about a man at rock bottom who can't accept himself, so he keeps running around from who he is, until he found you, who accept him what what he is. As a gay romance, ghoul or not, kid is not really a problem. While ghouls will be run out everywhere, Hancock has no problem with that since he's already a mayor of a city.

MacCready is pretty adorable though, if only he wasn't too contradictory. :P

I think there are multiple versions of the KISA, so that will also be something Bio needs to take into account.

There's the fairy tale KISA, which has old fashioned societal norms as the core of its values. Here, the KISA is almost always male, rescues a helpless female, and follows the medieval chivalric code rather than modern values.

There's the subverted KISA as a reaction to the fairy tale, where the KISA is actually authoritarian and is Lawful Stupid in adhering to societal rules, even if they're harmful to people. They are arrogant and stick to their ideals, even if those ideals are bigoted or classist.

The more modern version of the KISA is the one I'd like. They value liberal humanism and protect people without judgement. My ideal of this is the paladin class from the old Quest for Glory games, if anyone's familiar with that. That class is about doing what they consider right, regardless of society's laws, and mercy, compassion, selflessness and justice trump vengeance or judgement. I realize that these ideals are impossible for people to follow 100%, but they're what I would consider the goals for my desired KISA. :D

tumblr_nz6mvnjSJ51u97r8do3_1280.jpg

I have yet to get Hancock to join me.  He's one of only two companions that I haven't gotten yet.  Not sure what I have to do to make it happen.  Frankly, I wasn't too interested in him because he's the "renegade" choice guy from what I can tell.  He likes violence and theft and drug use and being rude and selfishness and stuff like that, so he doesn't seem like a great fit for my PC.  But........I've never actually seen his fact up close like that.  It must be the dim lighting in his building in Goodneighor combined with the hat he wears.   Look, I'm not saying saying he's as hot as Danse or anything, but he's actually better looking for a ghoul than I was expecting.  Maybe I will romance him too......?

Garvey is super boring.  When people say that Kaidan is boring, I will now direct them to Garvey as it's not even close.  And I love goody-goody types, but even I find him to be too boringly boring boringness.
