If Bioware did the writing, Danse would be straight. They have a certain archetype that it seems like KISA have to be straight. This is why I like playersexual. At least, we are not bound by how certain archetype is being distributed. If we're talking about banters, I can imagine some very hilarious conversation between Danse and Deacon. Danse is pretty serious, and I can already see Deacon makes fun of Danse, and he's not even realizing it. It's too bad Deacon is on the RR faction though since he can never stay alive in my game. I think Danse and Nick would be pretty funny as well since Danse would be annoyed at Nick and make some remarks but then Nick probably would just brush it off with some savage comments. That's why I said the game companions have a very Bioware feel to it. They all have certain relationship in the background, and it would have been fun if we could have bring maybe 2 of them together, so they could banter.
I wouldn't be so sure. A few years ago? Probably. Now it would be possible. ME3 and DAI were about testing the waters. And it's getting a lot better. With Sky you had to be rude to the ladies and pass two conversation checks, Zevran never mentions anything, Anders mentions Karl only to flirting male Hawkes, and Steve had no less than 3 (THREE!) conversation checks one after another; Kaidan could finally sex up male Sheps, because most people, who could be "offended," killed him in ME1. Dorian, Sera, and Bull are fully open about their sexuality, there's no sweeping under the rug. I guess the Cullen romance was cut, because he had a huge following mostly among women and they wanted to avoid another "turned existing character bi" situation.
And bethesda doesn't really do much, they just don't add gender constraints in the programming, one or two additional lines in FO4, and hardly anyone notices m/m romances. Bioware cannot even hint that someone is not straight, because everyone starts yelling. This forum got really ugly around ME3/DA2. ME had media problems even without Kaidan, people on any side were pissed about DA2 ("all bisexuals - unrealistic; playersexual - not how human sexuality works; gays in my game? nooooo!" and so on), ME3 got flooded with negative reviews before it was even out, because of the leaked Steve scene.
The KISA is usually poised to be the bro of straight male players, and the love interest of the female players. So it makes kinda sense they waited so long.
Anywho - David Gaider (who wrote most of the gay/bi male characters) left DA to write for the new IP, and Casey Hudson (who unlike the members of the DA team, which shut down anyone who campaigned for a "no gay mode" on these forums, wrote here after the ME3 gay scare disaster that basically they had no choice and were forced to do it) also left for MS Studios, plus Andromeda is developed in a new(-ish) part of Bioware, so that and the positive response to Dorian makes me believe that both ME and DA will have different kinds and more of m/m romances.
(that got ranty, but that was building for a few years so...)
As for the FO4 companions, yeah, even two person follow limit would be great. Listening to Dorian call Blackwall a hairy lummox was awesome, having Hancock call Danse a giant hairy tin can would be so much fun.
