Nick disliked a lot of the sarcastic options as well, which is a shame, because they are the best part of fo4 for me (I named my protag Hawke and make him say sarcastic options at inappropriate moments, just like I did in DA2). "Igor, fetch me the brain" "let's plug you into a toaster" and "here's your headline: local man says no." made me laugh so hard, especially since the voice actor for the protagonist has done such an excellent job. I generally avoid aggressive responses, but when you can call Nick "The great clockwork dick" there's no way I'm not selecting it.

 

It was especially painful, because it was a non conversation and I had to sit through Tom calling the terminal baby and couldn't skip it...

 

Yeah shame XD But man Nick is like such a straight man for snarky PC. It's golden. Even if he disapproves.

 

Oh god why remind me. That was a really awkward scene. (That said if you let him give you the shot it leaves you at 1hp had me rolling).

Baldurs Gate II - Happy with Aerie

Neverwinter Nights - Aribeth - Awesome story, sort of happy, but not at the same time.

 

Didn't Throne of Bhaal end with you leaving Aerie with the child alone? I replayed BG2 recently, but the enhanced edition, this time I chose Dorn, so I don't really remember Aerie's romance. And didn't Aribeth's romance include killing her and then dating her as a ghost? Doesn't seem very happy to me :/

Sad face. I've wanted to be able to marry a LI for years, and when they finally add it they add to to just LIs I don't romance.

You can potentially leave any romance if you choose godhood instead of them, something i would never do. So i stayed with Aerie. I love the fact that she has your child on the battlefield in Throne of Bhaal, makes it all the more awesome. I really do love her character arc though, it is gut-wrenching at its worst, and heartwarming at its best. Haven't gotten around to the Enhanced Edition yet, but i would just choose Aerie anyway and not see any new content.

That's so goddamn cute! This is what I want! Hell, I'd go on a murderous rampage and cause havoc all over Dragon Age universe with my partner if that meant we'd live happily ever after, side by side, together forever.

 

I'm still such a newbie to the DA series (DAI being the only game I've played, too) so I'll hafta at least check the romance out in youtube if anything. 

It's honestly a very important romance in fiction to me, because nowhere else have I seen such a tender and loving depiction of a gay relationship (of course there's some plot related drama, but they get past that). It even has dialogue differences from the straight version that points that Anders feels better in a relationship with a male Hawke (another plus). So yeah, check it out! (DanaDuchy on youtube makes great compilations, plus there's content from dlcs that also has some Hawke/Anders stuff)

In DA2 you kinda get a sappy gay romance ending like that. Anders, if romanced, says a lot about Hawke being the most important person in his life, about how much their relationship and love has meant to him, and you can choose to be fugitives together forever. So not the typical happy ending, but a "they lived happily ever after in a dirty shack somewhere," which I think is a pretty positive ending.

I doubt it. I've been wishing that for years, yet every time it either doesn't happen at all or it happens with LIs I don't romance. When I even made a thread asking for it, it got locked and I got reprimanded by Allan. Still, I appreciate the sympathy. 

 

Also, your list brings up a question: why do only the female characters get to marry their LIs? Every single LI in Bioware's console games that can be married are available only to female characters. What makes Bioware think that males don't want to marry?

Huh I did not remember that. Probably because there was no gay romances, so I kinda did Aerie's without being really interested in it, even though I liked her. The enhanced edition stuff was mediocre at best, it got some chuckles from me, but the gay option I so wanted those 15 years ago felt shallow :/ Anyway, the EE works great on new Windows versions/OS X, so if you ever want to replay it, you should look into that version.

 

She did feel dramatic, but then again pretty much every character in NWN tried to overact it at some point.

You so get me! I mean, it's so easy to make all the stories about gay relationships extremely bittersweet, depressing and full of drama and mishaps just because it's a gay relationship. And I feel like most gay relationships in entertainment are just that: someone either dies, they break up or are in general unhappy most of the relationship until the end when everything gets better, IF they do. That's why these kinds of sappy, loveydovey stories of gay relationships that are full of warmth and loving are important to me. And what's a better place to include them than in a video game with a fantasy setting, in a world where LGBT issues don't exist, or aren't as apparent.

 

I'll definitely have to check it out, right after checking Sera's and Josie's romance!

mShep + Kaidan = they retired in Vancouver and took over the Orchard. It's time for the old soldiers to let the young soldiers take care of business. Happy ending I have to make up for myself. My Shep lives.

 

Lavellan + Dorian = long distance relationship so not a bad ending but they ain't as happy as they could be.

 

Cullen + Lady Inquisitor move in with Cullen's family. At least until s*its gonna hit the fan again. Cullen will stay back home with the baby .... >

 

Warden + Alistair = The king and his runaway Queen. Alistair isn't happy and my Warden isn't either. 

 

mSoSu + Danse = My SoSu will be Elder once Maxson goes back home with the Prydwen and I'll stay behind to run the show in the Commonwealth with my Synth family muahahahaha.

Oh god I do, it's really hard to find an uplifting gay couple in a movie. Either it's the gay best friend (ugh), or one of them gets killed or dies from AIDS. I get that these stories are important, but getting almost no stories with love and warmth is seriously very damaging to many people's mental wellbeing. They are very important in making gay people more comfortable about dating and life in general. Honestly there are so so many hetero romantic comedies and people don't really appreciate how positively they influence their lives even if they don't watch them. Games should be free of LGBT issues, because so many people play them for escapism and don't want more "immersion based rejection" (some people used that line, when they criticized that DA2 had too many bisexual characters, or that ME3 had too many gay romances, those people suck)

I've noticed Nick and Piper and someone else warm up to it in a "eh you'll never change" kinda way. Danse surprisingly gave me some "liked that" to some snarky comments to other npcs, so there's still hope for him

Honestly, the protagonist does funny voices, it's worth selecting just for that, and I think some responses are chosen automatically based on the most selected one, I've seen many people didn't get one of the most funny lines, when you do the road to freedom quest, when I spun the puzzle he said "it...spins" and "well that did...nothing" in such a silly voice I laughed at it so much. mShep + Kaidan but mShep gets turned into bits, so it's Steve + Kaidan (not popular, but hey, I think they would be cute together)

Garrett + Anders and the dog probably joining Isabela and having a well deserved vacation on a big boat

mSoSu + Danse in a dirty settlement somewhere (outside of the commonwealth, because god these people are useless) and dealing with Danse's PTSD

Trevelyan + Dorian = the Inquisitor joining Dorian in Tevinter

I didn't know about the drunk stuff, have to test that out! I like that you can skip with the four dialogue buttons, the first time I skipped with the aggressive option by mistake he did a "UGH NEXT" and it was so unexpected XD

That's awesome. I know that people were pissed about the voiced protagonist, but honestly, I wouldn't play the game for even half the time I did without it
