I'm well aware of how bisexuals swing since I'm one myself but IB gradually lost my interest and it rapidly turned into a strong dislike. He was a good idea but badly executed AND they gave him the better Dorian romance ending slides (yes I'm still salty about it and it will never ever change lol) If i replay the game again I won't recruit him, a shame because I like the Chargers.

And that seems like a shame, making all bisexuals lean toward females just make it seem like they don't want to offend the dudebros or that hooking up with a guy is because they can't find a girl or something. Would it be hard to get a bisexual guy who is more into guys? ME has never cared about gays, but DA seems to be more open but it still has some big disappointment for me on how they handle LGBT contents. I hope that they improve it with the next game. I don't get why the stereotypically straight characters have to end up straight, would be cool to see if they mix it up a bit.

We had (in DA, ME was created by a guy who didn't want gays, so I'm not counting Kaidan's late playersexuality) Zevran, who wanted sex with everyone, including male Hawke, Anders, who was a bit hidden from female Hakwes when it comes to his sexuality, but he dated Karl and preferred m!Hawke (so hey, bisexual who's more into guys), Bull who talks more about women, but his (from what I remember) first more serious relationship is with a man (and not because he cannot find a girl). And Fenris, who was classical playersexual. So there is no trend really from what I can tell. We also had Cortez, who was friends with the testosterone dude mountain Vega, not a role gay men usually get to play. And Krem, who was treated with so much respect and care. Bioware is constantly improving, and given the dudebro criticism they have gotten for both ME3 and DA2, I'm glad they didn't take the easy way out, and hide LGBT characters. Maybe that's why I didn't mind Dorian and his storyline. That was like a "f*ck you" to the complaints about Anders flirting with m!Hawke ("you don't like gay characters, well how do you like them now"). We keep getting back to the gay KISA, it is a natural next step, and I hope and believe that BW will do it.

Maybe I've heard different parts of the dialogue than you, I mostly got him flirting with Dorian (even though I was romancing Dorian), him rating women with Sera, and trying to pimp out Blackwall (and the banana and grip innuendos), trying to pimp out Krem with the barmaid, and Cole saying a woman in a village wanted to jump him like a tree and he said basically: ok that's nice. Maybe my dialogue glitched, but I never felt he was crazy about women all the time.

Awakening Anders only takes about sex with women and doesn't talk about Karl when he's with femHawke, it's especially grating with developers comment that DA2 companions are not bisexual but different depending on playthrough, Zevran also only talks about women. They should have given us someone like Vega, but nah, it's enough to give an NPC and an inferior version of Kaidan. ME is not really a series to showcase LGBT considering how they're treating gay characters in ME1 and 2. I'll reserve my judging on whether they change it with ME4. If Dorian's story is about making a point then they're doing it wrong. Anyway, we should get back to gay KISA, I'm just hoping for a gay Danse or someone similar where being gay is a nonfactor. I doubt they try it again in the next game since there's no reason to repeat the same storyline twice or millions of times if you count movies and TV shows. I just hope they don't fall into the pitfall of making stereotypical characters and their orientation again, that's all I'm asking.

There was backtracking, but they settled on "everyone is bisexual in DA2." Honestly, the response to 2 was so terrible at times, I'm not surprised they were unsure what to say. Ever since in the canon and books they don't hide that Anders prefers men. And there were hints that Zevran had a thing with that male crow member who was sent to kill him, and also made passes at m!Hawke in 2. ME was often bad, true, but I guess we'll have to disagree on Cortez.

^WoT2 confirms that Zevran was in a polyamorous relationship with Taliesen and Rinna.

Zev talks about bathing and massaging Alistair in the tattoo banter. And then there's this,

Zevran: Here, take that templar fellow. Rugged good looks, quick wit, manly shoulders... just getting him to hop borders is a challenge worthy of the great heroes!

Unfortunately. I much preferred the sexually ambiguous stance.

Everyone is gay for Alistair, that doesn't count. ;)

j/k

I think books can be more explicit since there is no risk of losing audience as much as big budget games or movies. That's why you can see gay iceman, female Thor, Black Captain America, Asian Hulk. Such a risk and big changes wouldn't be in movies, they love their white male leads way too much in movies and video games.

And yet the reverse with depriving people with minor orientations see the characters as that isn't phobic. Ah, double standards.

Honestly there was no good way out of that situation. I read comments on this forum from the writers, and I know they wanted to be inclusive and had good intentions.

Oh, I'm not criticizing Bioware(mostly) but more the fans who did the complaining. Especially since the sexually ambiguous thing only ever applied to two of the LIs: Anders and Merrill. Fenris had it written so he sleeps with Isabela if neither are in a romance, and Isabela on multiple occasions expresses that she is attracted to men and women. I wish Bioware could have just reiterated that though rather than canonizing all but Sebastian as bisexual.

Oh yeah, I got that. There's another thread that DAI is too diverse. There are so many people playing these games, every single thing will be both the worst and the best. Bioware just needs to stick to their guns in the future.

This is painfully cute, ugh. And I love how it looks as if Anders inner dialogue is '' Nooo, stop being a mean kitty, if you don't behave Hawke will make me throw you out ;; ''

And Dorian, I don't think you can even ask about marriage from Dorian, and why would you wanna marry him anyway, he is going to leave you for Tevinter?!

While I thought the marriage issue was handled badly, particularly with the Cassandra remarks and being unable to address it with certain LIs (like Dorian), I don't think it fits him or his romance, and NOT because of his return to Tevinter. This isn't the Dorian thread, so I'm not going to get too carried away with it, but I think that was an appropriate choice for his character.

I don't think that there should be "marriage for all" -- in the game, real-life marriage for all -- because some LI might not want it, and those kinds of things should still stick with the characterization that was previously established for the LI. Now, that's not to say that the PC shouldn't have the option to ask or raise the issue, but that can also put the writers in a bit of a bind. If they truly feel that their character would not go in for marriage for whatever reason, then they run the risk of having the LI turn the PC down, which would suck for the player, regardless how how nicely it was done. I really don't see that ending in any positive way. And truly, it's such a serious conversation that I don't think it should be relegated to a couple of lines in a DLC.

I think in the above instance, the issue should not be raised at all. So for example, Casandra should not have mentioned marriage to my Dorian-mancer when there was no way to address it with the man himself. I just think it was an unfair tease, particularly since there were marriages allowed. I certainly don't begrudge those folks that are happy with their marriage, I just dislike the way it all played out for those of us who were unable to get married. And it made Cassandra look like an idiot, and Varric look like an ass, particularly in regard to the Solas-mancers.

As for "why would you wanna marry him anyway, he is going to leave you for Tevinter?!" He and my Inquisitor are still together. They both used the word "love" during Trespasser, and Dorian said, "There will always be an us." That's good enough for me, and everything else can be left to head-canon, which I am perfectly fine with. I don't think marriage is something that Dorian and my Inquisitor would do, and I have head-canon for other stuff which I'm not going to get into here.

As for the whole KISA thing, after having watched the videos for the Paladin Danse romance from Fallout 4, I think that would be fantastic if done Bioware-style, with all of the depth that they throw into these things. It would be adorable and sweet, and I just love the whole, "I didn't know you felt that way about me," kind of thing.

Lol... I just have this whole thing in my head now of a couple of shy guys not really knowing how to be around each other and it's just so f-ing adorable I can barely stand it.

Also, am I correct in assuming that most of the people in the thread want a "fully gay" (as in Dorian/Sera) KISA and not someone who is bi? Would some of you folks settle for bi, or still be disappointed if they weren't gay?

To me, the concept of the gay KISA, particularly for men, is partly about bucking the stereotype of how a KISA should be. So having the KISA be bi, especially if it is the type of bisexuality that is hardly mentioned, rather defeats the purpose. In that case, a female PC romancing the male (bi) KISA is basically no different from romancing a straight KISA. Of course, if you're the player who is primarily concerned with romance options then I suppose it wouldn't really matter since you would still get the m/m KISA romance in your play, even if the guy is bi.

I still mourn the lack of a f/f Cassandra romance. To date, she is the only female character I would like to romance out of all the DA games (regardless of sexuality), and is my favorite female follower. My canon characters are usually female, and I romance men, but I would have gone for her in a heartbeat if I'd been allowed to. Alas, my guy is reserved for Dorian.

same, I'd prefer gay but if they make the KISA Bi he/she should be better handled than IB was. For selfish reasons I'd prefer a male gay KISA but I could settle for a badass lady too
