same, I'd prefer gay but if they make the KISA Bi he/she should be better handled than IB was. For selfish reasons I'd prefer a male gay KISA but I could settle for a badass lady too 

 

Oh gosh, I wouldn't mind Evangeline from Asunder. Er, well someone like her, that is. Then again, since we just had Cassandra and Cullen, we should move away from the templar/anti-mage type of KISA for a bit and just have a normal warrior.

 

I've seen several instances of people wanting Michel de Chevin as a follower in the next game. Leaving out the fact that his appearance doesn't quite follow with the clean slate they appear to be wanting in the North, I can't recall if anything was said in reference to his sexuality in The Masked Empire. On the other hand, we already know his backstory, so it would be more fun (for me, anyway) if we had someone fresh to learn about. I want another blown-out-of-my-chair emotional cinematic like the Dorian tavern scene.

I'd prefer if the KISA was gay. I'd enjoy the fact that he'd see me not only as a person, but also as a man, a man with possibly masculine traits, who is strong, who doesn't necessarily need saving, but he is still up for saving him and protecting him from evil, because that's just how he loves men and how enamoured he is by me.

For a man to have such deep, chivalrous attitude towards men, because they are men and he sees them as precious, something to protect, that is something that is rarely, if ever seen in media. If the KISA was bisexual, I wouldn't oppose it, it's a step into the right direction, but in the romance, I'd kinda feel more like a special person to him, rather than a special man (sure I would be his special man, but the romance wouldn't go out of it's way to assure me how he likes my masculine body/traits, ye?).

 

So being available exclusively for men, it'd just make the romance, FOR ME, so much more intense because I could feel his burning passion for the male body, for the male that I am.

 

Not trynna sound biphobic (hopefully), just my need for gay KISA is bigger than bi KISA. I like to be catered to kek.

Of course, I'd definitely be fine with a bi KISA too. But gay KISA >>>>> bi KISA.

I would definitely prefer a gay KISA, because 1) we had only 2 gay men in all BW games and a lot of bisexual/playersexual-but-kinda-bi men and 2) as people have said already, it's a stereotype breaking thing, a big, stoic, lawful good character who's shy about his attraction to the male protagonist - almost unheard of anywhere. If they found some other LI for femshep in ME1, Kaidan would have worked great as a gay man from day 1 (hell, even his appearance is based on a gay man). Danse would have worked as a gay man, they could have even added a struggle for him that he had some feeling towards Maxson that went beyond loyalty to a leader. Eh maybe soon. Probably not this year, I think they will push Andromeda to 2017.

you're welcome. There are almost no fics, but a lot of people noticed there was something, especially since Maxson agreed to cover for Danse (he left a synth that "infiltrated" the ranks alive, this could cost him a lot if the rest of the BOS found out). But I've seen some.. ahem art of them, so maybe it will catch on.

Okay, yes, yes, yes. If the KISA HAAAAAAAAAS to be bi, I'd hope there would be some minor dialogue changes depending on if you are male or female and romancing him. And in general, if the KISA had to have dialogue/party banter about romance, love, sex, anything of the sort, that it'd be balanced to talk about both men and women.

Yeah, I'm totally on board with the gay/bi characters explicitly remarking on prior relationships with other people of the same sex. Like, this is one of the big stumbling blocks with Zevran's romance, that he says that when given a choice, he prefers women right to the face of a man who has been flirting with him, and his stories about his past only involve women. It's really hard to take the romance through because of that - it's like openly declaring to your partner 'you're not really what I'm looking for, but hey, I'll try it out.' Not good for the confidence. It's one thing to say something like 'most of my experience has been with women' or something like that, but to actually say 'I prefer women'... Yeah, that's a bit of an issue.

 

Talk about adolescent crushes and a past relationship that didn't work out, using both genders, it's fine. It's just that whole telling your partner explicitly that if given a choice, you'd take the option that's not them that rubs me wrong.

Whenever I play a game, I always play as a mage, so I'm pretty much a glass cannon, this is why I like to have a KISA around to play the protector role, like a codependent existence in battle, it's like we cover each other's weaknesses. I get the appeal of 2 KISA, masculinity overload and all that, but it would just too similar. Even in FO4, my character is pretty much a glass canon who prefer stealth while sniping with Danse acting as a tank protecting me. This is why my relationship with MacCready just can't work out. He also play the sniper role and suck at soaking damage. We're just too similar to be with each other, I guess. lol

 

This may be an unpopular opinion but I know a lot of people find John Shepard hot, but I don't find him attractive. He's not really my type. Maybe because he's too polished or something. He looks too clean or too statuesque or something. People like Garrett Hawke and Danse would be more like my type. It's weird though since I like Cullen, but it has more to do with his personality and manners that make him more attractive to me.

Yeah, I didn't appreciate that very much about Zevran's romance either, and also the fact that he practically asks for permission to flirt with the PC. It's the latter that has kept me from romancing him more than just once.  I don't have anything against Zevran as a character, and it is fine for bisexual characters to have a preference, but Zev literally asking if it offends my PC if he flirts with him....   yeah.....

 

I don't blame Zev for that, because to me, he isn't asking the PC.  He's asking the PLAYER that question, which has more to do with writing than the character himself.  And it just leaves me with a huge sour taste, because it's like oh okay (male) homosexuality is offensive to some people so we have to be mindful of that. It's like there always has to be a way to validate (straight) players who feel that (male) homosexuality is icky and gross and 'No, cut that out because I DO have a problem with that.'  

 

They even have that with Dorian during the scene with Gisele.  The whole 'BTW there are rumors about you, Inquisitor (player) and me (the only gay guy companion). Are you okay with that? Does that offend you???'  And of course there is the dialogue option:  *I don't like that idea.*

 

Again, to me it just seems like that option is there for the sake of appeasing the segment of the audience who thinks (male) homosexuality is offensive and gross. Granted, I never pick the option, so I'm not sure what the Inquisitor actually says if that dialogue option is chosen.  

 

It's just something that I want to be avoided for any potential male KISA available for same-sex romance in the next game. I'd rather the KISA not initiate flirts with the player or the player not be put in situations such as the 'gay rumors' with Dorian.   NOT because I don't think those things should happen.  I actually DO think they should happen, but it's just that I know that it will come with the backtracking and bending over backwards from BioWare yet again to reinforce the fact that there is something offensive about male homosexual content to SOME players and their offense to such content needs to be catered to for some reason despite it clashing with Dragon Age's lore.  

 

I hope this makes sense because it was kind of hard to write down.

^Yep, absolutely no more 'does that offend you??' for m/m romances. I really don't care if male players are squicked at the idea of a man hitting on them. It's like what Joss Whedon said (paraphrased) about Willow coming out of the closet on BtVS: 'we lost some fans we probably didn't want anyway'.

On another note, how do y'all feel about a questioning KISA, one who is plainly attracted to the PC but has never been in a same-sex relationship before?
