I like the idea of having a guy who knows what he wants, but just was never presented with the opportunity due to life circumstances or something along those lines. Perhaps he was just really focusing on training, or maybe he's only been with one other guy**. Maybe he's a demi-homosexual and needs an emotional attachment before wanting sex (which seems like the perfect setup for a PC/NPC romance, honestly).

And I know that it is really stupid and ridiculous to base this preference over concerns about what the (sometimes disgusting) fandom will do, but it did occur to me... I would prefer that he not be a virgin simply for the fact that I can see the whole issue of "deflowering" becoming a thing. And that just... no. It is disgusting when straight men do that with girls and women. I don't know if that is a thing for gay guys too, but just ew. And I've no doubt that certain m/m obsessed fangirls would have their "fun" with it as well.

I think it could probably be treated well within the game itself, especially if you are also able to RP a virgin yourself with dialogue options, but I just don't see it going anywhere positive or respectful in some elements of the fandom. But again, I do realize it is dumb to have this concern based on something that doesn't actually matter in the long run. Inexperienced is fine, but that doesn't equate to virgin, simply limited experience; few sexual encounters, not necessarily none, and so on.

** No, I'm not suggesting that his previous One True Love died or something. Those tropes are rather played out as well.

He probably would have had some experience with a few men, he probably liked it a lot (you know, about as much someone would enjoy masturbating), but he'd yearn for more, romance and a deeper bond. I'd like him to be very sexual and interested in physical bonding, but he just isn't bothered with one night stands because he feels they are demeaning and he wants more than just an afternoon delight. He'd be like Charlotte from Sex and the City, kinda!

EDIT: and one night stands would require a lot of courage (that DOESN'T come from a bottle) from him anyway, courage that could be put into something more useful.

I'd love the inexperience thing, but I'd prefer if he is inexperienced because he is shy and introverted, rather than inexperienced because he tried to suppress that affection and love part of himself and found things like love either tricky or unneeded, or just unworthy of him.

So rather than '' I've never been in this situation, I'm not sure how to feel, or what this feeling is.. whatislove '' I'd personally like '' I am at the same time so happy, yet so nervous, I've always looked at you, looked up to you, thinking maybe, I've played it in my head numerous times, what I'd say.. but now that we're actually here, I'm not sure what to do, it's like I'm paralyzed from feeling so much. This is all new to me.. ''

But now we're just grasping at straws and any developer looking through this thread shouldn't take to heart anything else except to release a gay (or bi if he has to be bi) KISA. THANK U.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Unsure in a "I want to show you how much you mean to me, but I've never been so intimate and don't want to screw up" way. But that's just one of the ways they could do it

I wouldn't worry about the fandom too much, there are 300 pages of "what would Tali's sweat taste like," regardless of how the KISA romance will look like there will be enough of slightly offensive posts about who's the pitcher and who's the catcher and why...

If they decide to go with virgin KISA, I would enjoy it regardless of fandom response. The "there's no gay virgins" stereotype is also one that should be broken once in a while.

I don't think that's that big of a stereotype (a gay virgin here lmao), but the stereotype of gays being wild, slutty, sleep around a lot, party a lot, aren't romantic and can just go in a gay club and immediately find someone to bang, that's certainly a quite big stereotype, and the KISA would do a lot to discourage that stereotype.

If the gay KISA is a virgin, it'd probably close off that he could be a more aged man (which would suck tbh, I like them a bit older). Well, I guess virginity could be OK as long as the KISA doesn't shy away from it and is even more eager to learn what makes his lover feel good.

I think we should try to avoid attacking people for their interests. I wouldn't want to turn away potential posters who are interested in the option and the thread and may find the topic to be insulting toward them. There are females playing male characters, even as their primary file, regardless of the reason why they play it, I'm just happy that more people could use that content. It's a lot better than the disgusted attitude from the usual straight guy, to say the least. Still, I would prefer women who enjoy m/m relationship over those who want a gay best friend any day.

Anyway, back to the topic, I want it to be a knight because it procures the sense of masculinity. I actually want a standard human this time because we never actually have it. I just want something very traditional, more conventional sense because it shows the norm and the KISA as part of the norm who is into m/m. Having it as part of the other race I'm ok with but it wouldn't have the same impact. I'm not a fan of elf as KISA, mainly because it could be very similar to Fenris and the general view of femininity with elf race. It is not to mention elves are generally slaves in Tevinter. I don't think we'll see an elf knight, maybe as a rebel, but then it would introduce the rogue element into it. I wasn't too impressed with Iron Bull, it was so comedic instead of romantic. Qunari view is too different from humans, and if it's a Qunari living in a human society, that Qunari would be some sort of outcast in larger scheme of things, with dwarf, I just feel like they lack the classic image of a KISA. I wouldn't mind them being one of the other options. One of the options for me have to be a male human KISA who acts like an everyday guy and embodiment of KISA ideas.

Hey, me too! *virgin fist bump*

The slutty gay stereotype is alive and well, sadly. And it goes with the "gays don't stay virgins long" stereotype, in my opinion. Partially, because a lot of people think that most gay men use grindr and can have sex anytime, anywhere (and that tinder is not at all the same...).

But I don't think virgin KISA would dictate age. Danse is well into his thirties, and he's a virgin. His romance worked. When the world is crumbling constantly, saying that that character never had the time or never felt a deeper connection before and without it sex wouldn't be as meaningful to them, so they never bothered, makes sense.

Danse looks like someone who is in his late 20 while Cullen is in his mid to late 30. Both are virgins, both are also into their works that they don't have time for relationship. Just because a KISA is a virgin doesn't mean they have to be young.

Yeah, I'm a bit tired of the promiscuous and flirty gay and bi guys in DA games. I kinda want to see someone who is more preserved for once. Maybe this is why I like Danse so much, everything about him is just cute. It's just adorable instead of lustful. This is something I want to see in a romance. I prefer a fluffy, sweet romance.

I too would like a male gay knight, this role has been reserved for straight guys again and again, it's time to break the mold. In recent pop culture history (or not so recent) Ser Loras in GoT would be a shining example for a gay KISA, sadly the show reduced him to nothing but his orientation

Gen 3 Synths are perfect copies, they might shoot blanks though (I'm pretty certain they are all sterile tbh). Else you could just pull someones bloomers down and check if they're a synth

Well, as I said, I was just imagining the horrid fan stuff, but y'all are making me feel better about it!

Fluff is nice... But I much prefer angst, and that is one of the reasons I like the Dorian romance: the angst factor. The only other romance I played was the Cullen romance. I planned that out since before release since I knew the character from DAO, even though I was never very much of a Cullen fan. Not only do I generally prefer darker guys (Dorian's coloring), but as the years have gone on I've lost interest in the bashful, stuttering type. I romanced Alistair several times, and he was my canon for DAO, but I probably won't do so again the next time I play that game. In fact, I probably won't romance anyone in DAO.

Then again, even if he's not my type, I do always support the mold-breakers. :D

I haven't played FO4, but from what I understand...

Spoiler

I do suggest putting FO4 stuff like that under a spoiler tag. I think the game is still pretty newish, and some poor FO4 player likely isn't expecting spoilers in a Dragon Age forum.

Yes, they do, Deacon was married to a synth, so they would have found out she's a synth if she doesn't have the part and functional. I'm sure Danse has the part, and it can even function just like the real thing. It's just that they're sterile. Nick and other previous gen synths don't have the part, so it wouldn't have work with Nick as a romance.

If you mean story wise - yes they have, but he's not actually human, so no babies. Not that it would matter in a gay romance. If you mean the game - the mods are already here. So, yes x2

I don't mind angst, but I would rather have a non-gay angst than Dorian's afterschool special. Fenris and Danse have pretty angsty romance as well, and I like how they handle it. The PC helps the LI gets over their angst and be their pillar support. I like those kinds of angst better.

The closest thing is Shaun. Basically, you have an immortal family. Danse is the only character to have interaction with synth Shaun. I guess it's because they're in very similar boat.

Yeah, I think synths can simulate all the things human can do, even if they don't need to. Babies are the only exception.

I don't think I'm going to take baby Shaun, if there's a choice. A 60 year old man recreating what he remembers he was like 50 years ago and experimenting with it on his father and traumatizing him in the process? I want no part in it. Give him new, happy memories and a synth family, who can stay with him for a long time. Making him watch his new father age and die, while he cannot escape being Peter Pan is just cruel.

Edit:

Concerning spoilers, there's like 30 pages of them, I think it's too late for tags now...

You can be immortal in this game though, so Shaun is probably not gonna see you die for a while. Plus, at some points, I'll probably give him a new body like we did with Curie to reflect the change of him growing up. It's my son's dying wish. I betrayed him once, I just can't find it in my heart to betray him again.

I don't know, Danse's romance is full of angst but it's my favorite romance. It's how tragic his romance is that make me really feel for him.
