But he could be dead.

Even if the majority of players chose to save the Chargers (which I'm pretty sure is the case) that fact might limit Krem's role in the future.  You never know (Leliana obviously) but it may keep Krem's role minor at best.

If that is the case, I'd have to be skeptical about BW's though process when creating Krem. Well, I won't personally lose out on anything if Krem has no future cameos.

You probably say that to every pretty thread!

But jokes aside, mine too :)

Hey now, I have standards, just because a thread has pretty boys (and girls) it doesn't mean it's my favorite. I don't share my affections :P It's one or none lol

It's not like every character they create has a potential to tie into future stories. Look at DAO companions. Shale and Wynne only appeared in the books, Sten only in a comic, Oghren disappeared after Awakening, Velanna, and Sigrun vanished, Zevran got a small cameo and a mention in DAI. And DA2 companions got only mentioned (aside from Varric, obviously). Sometimes they have bigger plans for characters from the start (Flemeth, Sandal), sometimes fans influence it (Cullen), and sometimes they just are relevant here and now.

I wonder if I'm in the minority, but a hot-headed KISA, like Snow from FFXIII, that'd be pretty cool... He is not really intelligent, makes rash decision, but his heart is in the right place and his passion for peace and being a hero is, while quite annoying, still very cute. He is just so innocent, and wants to be everyones best friend. He is naive and positive, never gives up, and that's kinda adorable.

Most discussion about a KISA seems to revolve around them being shy and stuff, maybe more put together, stern, mature, but I'd go for someone like Snow. He is just.. so safe! Homely!

I want a mature, down to earth kind of KISA, over the top and rash doesn't do it for me anymore xD A soldier to the very core, proud and loyal. It sounds cheesy but man I needs it. They took Cullen from me ><

That's fine too (maybe even better...)! But I'd take a young, naive, hot-headed hero who'll protect me with all his heart as well <3

It all boils down to the romance though and his looks.

Can't he be dead too?

The clear majority of players chose to do In Hushed Whispers for their canon (not me though), so doesn't he die at Therinfall unless the Inquisitor does Champions of the Just?  And even then he can die if the player doesn't get back to the main hall in time, right?

I do like him, though.

I sided with the mages simply because I love to play as mages. I doubt they would bring him or Fiona back though. Maybe as cameo, both can be killed, Fiona can be killed by the Inquisitor's hand as well. Then again, Lelianna got her head cut off and just put it back together in DAI. I doubt they would do that again since the backlash is pretty bad.

Danse is basically Cullen in modern time. :P

Still, it would have been nice if it was from Bioware though. :(

I'm worried a gay KISA will take a long, long time since it probably couldn't be a sassy gay stereotype they way Dorian was. It makes me think of how everyone threw a tantrum over Steve Cortez either because he was gay, or because he wasn't a stereotype and therefore not "amusing" Enough. Blah!

That was several years ago, though. Maybe people have risen above that sort of thinking.. I hope so but, I sort of doubt it.

People talking about Cortez as not gay enough? I've never heard of that before. I do hope they try to avoid the usual gay stereotype though like fashion and sassy stuffs if they ever attempt a gay KISA. My family views people as gay based on their behavior, and some of my friends believe in some of the gay stereotypes to be true. We need more of the more everyday guys like Kaidan or Danse, maybe could be messy like Alistair.

No competition at all! We had Aveline and Sebastian in DA2, and Cassandra and Cullen/Blackwall in DAI (depending on your point of view ), so I don't see why there's only room for one knightly type.

Seriously, why not both? The KISA is a very general archetype. It would hardly stretch the bounds of plausibility to have two companions of different genders who both happen to be KISAs and both potentially interested in the same sex. There's still plenty of ways to make them unique. One could be an extrovert, the other an introvert. One could be rigid and unbending, and the other could be a little more flexible.

(Edit: Morally flexible! I meant morally!)

I'd personally like it if one of them was exclusively gay and the other bisexual. Neither of those orientations have been connected to a KISA type of character in this series, so it would make for a good addition.

It's right there in my OP.  I'm hoping for a male and female KISA both available for S/S romance.   The thread's title is gay KISA sure, but gay can pertain to both male and female.  I had considered the title of this thread to be the LGBT knight in shining armor, but I will admit that I was actually a bit wary of doing that because I thought it might attract more trolls and flames.....  It may have been a silly thought, but there you go.

And anyway, we've had multiple KISA characters in the same game before (Cass, Blackwall, and Cullen) all three of them straight, so I don't see why we couldn't have two KISAs in the next game who are not straight.  One guy and one girl.

Also, time for a shameless request!!!

If you guys agree with what this thread is all about and enjoy posting here, but haven't given the OP a like, please consider doing so!  I'd really like for this thread to make it into the top 20 most liked content on this site.  It is so close!  Only 5 more likes and it will make the cut!  Thanks!!!

I believe that was very, very wise of you Sandal. The very use of "LGBT" seems to trigger some people.

Idiots, mostly. Much better to avoid attracting their attention most of the time. Like with zombies.

Maybe technically, in the sense that it is his image on the Keep tile and the tile description actually says that he died if In Hushed Whispers was selected over Champions, but at the same time... We don't actually encounter any enemy with the name 'Ser Barris' on it. I'm fully willing to accept 'he thought something was fishy and got a handful of good-hearted templars to get the hell out of dodge before it all hit the fan' and go from there.

And yeah, let's have both male and female gay KISA in future games. Again, this is something that we are DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR, nearly two hundred and fifty pages worth of discussion, even if you cut the fluff, says that it's clearly a thing that's longed for, on either end of the gender divide. I always bring up Cassandra right alongside Cullen when I say that these archetypes are vitally lacking in narratives for gay people. I may focus specifically on Cullen, but he and Cassandra are cut from a very similar cloth.

To think the whole thing could have averted if they had included the cut content for Cullen.

*Preemptive warning: soapbox rant incoming*

It should have happened, there really is no excuse for it. Like, legitimately, I firmly feel that instead of spending time making Bull's model play nice with all forms of the Inquisitor, that time and effort NEEDED to be spend on Cullen more - as a character, he really would have MEANT more as a bisexual man, because he's a character archetype that never gets portrayed as gay/bi, because addiction is a serious issue in the LGBT community, because coming out later in life (as in outside of teens/early twenties) and coming out as bisexual are very rarely touched upon in media, AND because I believe it honestly means more to show a story of a non-heterosexual character coming to accept themselves, rather than insisting that others accept them.

I'm never going to be over this.

She's not straight, but she's not a romance option. And since that's what we're after...

Yesh, i know. I really want her to be a romance option too...

She did ask about Hawke and her, but said "there was never anything there." Aveline was never a romance option, and not for one moment did she have any romantic feeling for Hawke, so she did not leave you or anything. I know some people were disappointed, but I liked the relationship with her, especially with a mage Hawke - they had Bethany for so long, now that she's gone and Carver is...being Carver, it's nice to have an older sister.

Yeah... But i love Aveline - She'd da bomb!
