FWIW, I never got the impression that Zevran was "made" to like men. It sounded to me like the Crows looked for bisexuality to be already present in their recruits, because it makes it easier to seduce and get close to various targets...
But personality-wise, I get why he's not everybody's cup of tea (even if he... and Dorian and Sera and Isabela... and other "roguish" but fundamentally good-hearted characters are totally my type). I mostly support the KISA archetype for the sake of other players, because there hasn't been that representation and experience for a lot of LGB people, rather than any interest of my own. Different strokes!
Hm... now that you mention it, they really have all been mostly roguish types, haven't they? Even if you take Anders (thanks for the reminder Biotic!) from DAA, he was certainly more roguish in that game. Of course, David Gaider wrote Zevran, Dorian, and DAA Anders, and he has a penchant for smart-ass types. I don't think that Leliana has that personality type, but she is literally a rogue, so... (lol).
Yeah, we so need to move away from that. Not only because of a certain type, but because it just gets kinda boring after a while. "OK, here's the lovable rogue. Is this one going to be bi or gay too?" And so on.
I suppose what I disliked about Zevran were his come-ons, even in party banter. Yes, you can ask him to stop flirting with you, but it's a part of his personality and you still get the remarks and so forth in banter if you bring him along. I think if he hadn't had that element I would have liked him a lot more. And yes, I do know from reading the forums that his romance is nice and such, and I don't doubt it, but it would require me to push myself past that uncomfortable phase just to experience it, which I am unwilling to do for something I am supposed to find "fun" in a game.
But I generally do like the roguish types as well, particularly if they have some angst or other darkness. Bishop in NWN2 would have been fun...
Aside from the potential fun of such a type, I do think that the inclusion of the gay KISA is actually an important development in the romances for these games. I may not even go for the person, but it should happen.

Honestly, me neither. Even with Anders, I kinda flipped it and acted as if I was romancing Hawke. Maybe it's the blonde hair and small skinny frame.

Oh man, I loved Bishop. Such a douchenozzle, but in an entertaining, heartwrenching way. I thought his story ended just the way it should have in MotB - and even though the romance was axed, it STILL felt more complete than Casavir's. That's saying something.

I would've preferred Blackwall as well. He is just my type of guy. His banter with Sera made him so much more appealing as well... It was so cute seeing him get all flustered when there was talk about sex and Josie!
*disgusted noise* I hate those banters.
But if he was gay, those wouldn't have happened so I prefer Rainier was gay as well.

I've never into Zevran's look. I think he's too much of a pretty boy, and i've never been too big on long hair. I guess I'm shallow. I like Blackwall. I don't mind him, but he's a bit too boring to me and a bit of a doormat. He's pretty much get stepped over by everyone in the banter, and it's just not really what I'm looking for in a guy. He did have some rogue element with his story though, so I would prefer the KISA to be a bit more traditional mean.
I'm not too thrilled on Anders, but I choose him because he's more like the best of a bad situation since Fenris is basically not my type at all. He's too skinny (shallow, I know), more of a rogue in term of personality, and the entire slave situation just turns me off.

Blackwall: It's hard to look away from the breach sometimes.Sera: Because you know what it looks like.Blackwall: No. No it doesn't.Sera: You know. (giggle-snorts)Gold. Banter gold.
I love stupid crude, dirty jokes in the middle of saving the world!
Though nothing can beat...
Iron Bull: So, you and the Boss huh?
Sera: Oh that's right. You and she had.. Sorry. right?
Iron Bull: (Chuckles) Hey, no hard feelings. Glad I loosened the lid for you.
Sera: Pfft! (laughs)
Inquisitor: That's enough both of you!
Iron Bull: Fine fine. Touchy.
Inquisitor: If you are going to gossip. Don't do it when I'm here.
Sera: Oh loosen up you! See what I did? I did it too! (laughs)
Sera: I think she's turning purple.
Iron Bull: Not the first time.
Cole: Why does she carry a jar down there? Is there something in her hands?

Seems an odd reason to wish a character was gay! Also, I'm not too into that type of banter either, but I do love how Dorian makes him squirm when he suggests he can draw "diagrams" concerning himself and the Inquisitor.

Well, I would have been mortified if that were my Inquisitor. Then again, I don't screw multiple people in my plays, or even flirt with multiple people. I'll usually have a single romantic interest and stick with them until the end.
The ONLY exception to this was my first DA2 play where I slept with Fenris, and then hooked up with Anders after he left. But that was all spontaneous and I never do that on purpose.

Ha me too, always a monogamist 'till the end in BW games. Hell, I waited 3 games for Kaidan. *insert some Anders comment about aching for three years*

In DAI, I honestly cannot for the life of me create anything else except a male inquisitor who romances Iron Bull... but I'll try my hardest to make a female qunari to romance Sera with once I get a mouse for my laptop so I can play games again!! >:l

LOL. I think this one was my favorite,
Bull: So, you and the boss, huh?
Sera: I know, right?
Bull: Didn't think you were the kind to bed your way to power.
Sera: Power bed its way to me. Big beautiful difference.
Inquisitor: Not sure I understand, but alright.
Sera: It's because I didn't want to go up, I wanted you to go down.
Bull: *chuckles*
Sera: ...Ohhh, because down. Brilliant! *cackles*

Wasn't the only reason. The main reason would be because of like was stated earlier all the Ser Bara stuff.

Well, at least Danse bite back.
Deacon tells me to watch your back and Danse bites back at him. Strong and Hancock's comments were pretty harsh though. That's how I like my tin-can man, I guess. ![]()
Danse's personality is hot-headed and serious, but that could also be a source of comedy. His comedic moment is mostly about how straight laced he is and sometimes hypocritical humor and pretend bravado. Blackwall seems to just be there. He's too serious sometimes, and most of his comedic moment is caused by his surrounding and other people instead of him, so he's a bit too bland for me. Blackwall didn't stand out as a character because he's too passive and nothing about his personality jumps at you or make you feel strongly like when Danse being an ass. Some may dislike it but at least, it leaves an impression on people.

I honestly get the feeling Danse has a sense of humor, but it's really dry and deadpan. Especially because he says, for example:
"This is not the navy, you know." when you swim, and
"The putrid smell of dishonesty lays heavy in here. Or maybe it's just the brahmin."
Because of Blackwall's big secret I guess he's tip toeing a lot. But I liked that he cared about people's opinion. Really a different kind of story.

Danse's humor is more self-depreciating, he usually takes it well when you make fun of him sometimes like when you say that there's a heart underneath those metals. A lot of his humors happen because he's too serious sometimes. Like him being a scaredy cat, talking about how he's trained to not be surprised then instantly being surprised by a noise. Yeah, his humor is more dry. He's more like Cassandra in term of humor. If you take him to Diamond City, he starts to accuse Takahashi of being a commie. It's just awkward all around. It's basically someone who takes things too serious that it becomes funny.
Maybe I'd have warmed up more the Blackwall if he has more of a personality. I don't get a sense that he cares about people's opinion but more like avoiding conflicts. Vivienne straight up belittles him and says that she would kick his ass and he has nothing to say back. Almost everything takes a dump on him and he never really says anything back. I kinda want to stand up for him but we really can't though as the inquisitor.

We can be shallow together Battlebloodmage, while we wait for the perfect KISA.
I'm not sure what put me off of Blackwall's romance. I usually like beards but I think he looked to old for me? I got more of a rough Santa feel from him than the "I need you in my life forever" feel I got from lovely Danse.
