It has its up and downs, they sadly ended up queerbating, and season 5 is sans this precious guy. If you want to see it, finish on 3b and never look back (they destroyed a lot of characters in 4, and that cute guy is only for 5 minutes on screen for that entire season). After 3b in my opinion,  it's not worth watching, even if you end up really liking it.

If only my Male Hawke felt the need to be somewhat threatened by another guy; he'll Romanced Anders. (My dislike of Anders stems off my romance with him friendship. Yeah...... Don't do dat....)

They were supposed to pair these two (mr. real life Danse and little sarcastic puppy)

They had chemistry and shared love for sarcasm and dry humor, people wanted that, and it seemed actors were on board, hell, the producers were. And then they weren't for some reason. Starting season 4 they were shoved into hetero romances, which were very very ooc. The writer who is gay got angry, actors went into full amnesia, they started treating the fans of the pairing like crap (including an actor who plays a different character, who described the fans of this "sick and twisted"), and no one knows what the hell happened. A lot of drama and bitterness.

Dorian seems to remind me too much of Zevran in term of personality. Maybe it's just me, but these types of personality just don't appeal to me. I guess I'm more into clumsy, adorkable personality like Alistair or Danse, maybe shy like Cullen.

 

I legitimately realized it this last playthrough, Dorian IS pretty much a Zevran clone - they both fill the 'lovable rogue' archetype, both have this attitude of casual confidence and flirtation, both are hiding a desire for something more than casual under this act of nonchalance, both have a quest involving someone wanting to take them back to a homeland they've abandoned... It really almost feels like all David Gaider did was pull out his character notes for Zevran, crossed out his name and wrote Dorian and changed the character from a bisexual rogue elf to a gay mage human.

 

And as for Dorian's story, I know I've said this before and elsewhere, but it just did nothing for me. It was almost beat for beat like an after school special I've seen a thousand times before. And I am not criticizing those who relate to that story, I want to emphasize that. But I've seen it before and it remains not MY story. Like, my story, my experiences as a gay man, have not been the angst of coming out and the associated drama. It's self-confidence issues (part of what makes Cullen so appealing, particularly that thing he says at the endgame about how this had been his chance to prove himself TO himself...). Or hell, it's body image issues - the gay community is so restrictive about what it deems 'acceptable' body types, and, being overweight and approaching my thirties, mine is only seen as such in a particular scene that I am not a part of. But this is never approached in media - heterosexual writers have no idea about how ununified the gay community actually is and the divisions and fractures within it, and the gay writers are often part of the problem.

 

But yeah, this is why I'm in here complaining and ranting and raving. Because I'm tired of not seeing my story in what few gay characters I'm "given." I'm at a point where I don't want to be content with what I get, because you know? I think I should be getting a fair shake, not just a handful of scraps I'm told that I should treat like a five course meal.

I like how Hawke looked bulkier in DAI, it's like Varric made him a bit slimmer to appeal to the general audience of the Tales of the Champion. Not me, though

I'm chubby and reaching mid twenties, and I'm too old looking to be a cub, too young to be a bear, too everything to fit anywhere, so I feel your pain. But I did have a lot of coming out drama, so I did like Dorian.
