I do not want to kill Maxson though ... maybe just beat him in combat and take his job and he's the Sentinel? I don't know

Hm I really don't know how Bethesda wants to do any continuation DLC, the endings leave a completely different power states...

Spoiler

But anyway, I just finished USS Constitution and it was so great. More missions like that, please.

(also, slow couple of days, with Gaider's exit I expected this place to be on fire)

Anyone else kind of worried in regards to the new IP now?

Gaider said he left voluntarily, but that could mean so many different things.  What if he didn't like how things were going for example.  I hope he was able to establish the world and a few characters, but I can't help but be worried.   I hope he ends up with another developer and I really hope he finished that book featuring Fenris!

As far as DA goes, I have faith in Weekes to continue on.   A part of me wants him to be the one to write a gay/bi KISA, but another part of me is nervous about that.  I don't want a Solas situation times ten or anything.

I'm not really concerned about Gaider leaving.  I know that some people on the boards are making it out to be a mass exodus and then assuming that this means that Bioware is self-destructing.  I think he's just moving on.  He's a creative guy and, frankly, he hasn't seemed very happy for a while.  I hope that he's moving onto something that makes him happy.

As far as DA, I also have faith in Weekes.  He's a great writer and he's open to fan feedback.  If he ends up being the writer for a gay KISA, he'll do it right, I'm sure.  But, even if it's another writer, I'm glad that Weekes will have some supervisory role since I really do trust him to try new stuff with the series.

BSN can get very doom and gloom for sure.

I hope he'll be happy elsewhere as well.  It's just that he's leaving so soon after leading the team with the new IP.  He said he wants to do something new, but you can't get much newer than a new IP....   we'll just have to wait and see if/when he shows up somewhere else, and I'm more curious about the new IP than ever.  I really do hope its development is going well, since I've been really looking forward to it.

Things will certainly be interesting for DA with Patrick at the reins.  I keep reminding myself that he knows about this thread and it makes me smile. I really shouldn't get my hopes up about that, but it is what it is.

I'm sure Dave is right, and I do trust Patrick Weekes. He does probably my favorite dialogue out of anyone on the team.

Still, the prospect of never seeing another Bioware game with Gaider at the helm...

Cameron Lee apparently tweeted that the everyone should rest assured that the new IP is still on track. So David Gaider leaving doesn't mean the IP is having issues. Gaider is skilled at world building, so that's most likely what he helped with and now with the world and lore established his role is done.

I'm a little obsessed with Sadness right now. She's my desktop background and everything. It's delightfully ironic that Sadness can just make me unreasonably happy.

It's also funny because I do think of you sometimes when she's on screen, especially when it's Joy and Sadness together, because you and I are kind of like that. One minute we're all...

If I'm not mistaken, Gaider joined in recently and wasn't long before he left, so I don't think IP would be affected in any way, so I don't think it would be a cause for concern. Not having a gay writer may mean we have the same situation with ME series, I hope not though, but people tend to write from their experience and perspective, so the LGBT content may not get as much attention, but maybe I'm just worried too much.

I just hope they put the characters first before the sexuality more than anything though, just give me a gay Danse or Kaidan from the very beginning, and I'm set to go. For a lack of a better word, I hope for a gay straight guy in the next game, going by what Bioware write for their straight characters like Alistair, Kaidan, and Cullen.

@Lady Artifice: Oh, my head is definitely run by a Sadness. I love her character, and I love how Pixar made an absolutely wonderful movie with the importance of sadness as the main or at least one of the main themes.

Aw, that's sweet. Thank you.  ^_^

I think you have to take things like this at face value. I mean, sure maybe there's an insidious culture change behind the scenes at BioWare and dissidents are being quietly sent to re-education camps, but we'll never know and he said he left amicably to pursue other stuff.

You have to assign Pixar characters to everyone now.

Gaider transferred to the new IP somewhere before March, so he's done almost a year of writing work, that is more than enough to leave his mark. Honestly, that says to me more that the new IP is story complete, and they're working on graphics/gameplay, that's why he could leave without disrupting the workflow.

I am sad to see him go, he is DA's dad after all. And I'm kinda worried about the LGBT characters, ME didn't handle them too well. DA without a gay writer could go either way, I'm just hoping it doesn't end up like ME 1 and 2, and the adventures in "no ******" :/

On the bright side, ME's Casey Hudson is also gone, and I blamed him for the straightwashing.

Edit: seems the censoring filters are a little bit too overzealous

I honestly have a love-hate relationship with Gaider - he's responsible for one of my favorite characters (Fenris), but also some of my more contentious ones (Zevran and Dorian). I appreciate the things he's done with the franchises he's been responsible for, but I've also noted a tendency to interact with the trolls or even assume that people are trolling and react in a snarky manner to a question that was phrased poorly but meant well. I'll wish him the best, but I'm not exactly broken up over his departure.

Straightwashing. I dislike that word. And it makes me feel uncomfortable too....

I would like a gay KISA who isn't a romance option. The only time we have had homosexual characters in the party, it's when they are romance options so having a gay character who is there for more than being a LI would be nice.

While that is true, I personally hope a gay KISA would be a romance option.

I'm all for having a (non KISA) gay companion who isn't a romance option, so long as there still is equal or at least a comparable number of S/S romance options as there are straight romance options.

Oh, I wasn't going to mention that, though it did cross my mind.   I'm sure Patrick won't shy away from LGBT characters/companions though. Not at this point.

He was Bull's writer, and when it was discovered there was an oversight that renamed Arl Eamon's father from Rendorn to Connor, he wanted to make it that 'Arl Eamon had two dads,' plus (though I don't know whose idea it was) he wrote The Masked Empire, which introduced Celene and Briala, so I think we can expect Weekes to keep up the LGBT characters and companions.

Why not have two LGBT KISAs, one romancable and one not?

And he was the one who decided to have Krem be a transgender when the original plan was him just being a regular mercenary. And he is the one who made Mass Effect's first confirmed lesbian character Samantha Traynor.

I could see that causing much strife on the forums, especially if one was male and the other female, but only one was romanceable.

But there is always strife on the forums about a character not being romancable.

But there is always strife on the forums about a character not being romancable.

But it would sting.  Especially in regards to our little thread here.  It would be like when Kaidan was made available for gay romance, but Ashley wasn't.  There was a thread suggesting they both be made available for same sex romance in ME3, and when it only happened for Kaidan, his fans were happy, but were also trying to keep the celebration in check due to Ash fans totally missing out.

It would be a mess in here, I think, if something similar were to happen.

Also, I just got AC Syndicate last week.  Haven't played beyond the first 1/2 hour so far, but I found out that according to WOG, Jacob (not a KISA, but still) is either bi-curious or bisexual!!
