I still don't see how it cuts into it. If Bioware wants to write say three homosexual characters to be in the party than two, they'll do it. Plus since you want to break stereotypes, having a gay character not interesting in getting involved with the hero would do that too. But if you all don't want it that just leaves another slot for hopefully a character of my orientation, so that's fine. Just throwing out what I thought would be a good idea. Guess I was wrong. Don't suggest an idea unless it involves sex with the protagonist, got it.
I think people are trying to be realistic while still hopeful. It's less about 'sex with the protagonist' and more about the trend that we rarely get more than 3-4 LGBT characters. I can see why people are viewing it as a zero sum game.
That being said, I actually agree with you. DA: I had a fairly large amount of LGBT NPCs (Krem, Celene, Briala, Dagna, Maryden, etc). I think we are actually in a place with that series where we might be able to see an LGBT companion who ISN'T romanceable without that character 'taking the spot' of one of the four LGBT romance options. Especially with Patrick at the helm. Although, if I'm being honest, I suspect that non-romanceable LGBT companion is likely to be Maevaris in the next game. And, while she's awesome, a KISA she is not.
