I really can not bring myself to be comfortable around Blackwall, and it's absolutely because of the appearance/voice combo. Just reminds me of people I've actually encountered who set off alarm bells in my mind. Can not get myself to see him in a romantic light. I'm honestly uncomfortable enough with him, I'm not recruiting him anymore.

Usually with a romance, it ultimately comes down to personality. Based entirely on appearances, when I looked at the DA2 choices, I figured I'd go with Anders almost exclusively, but when I met Fenris, who he was made me fall in love with him. When I looked at Inquisition's LI's, I started out being okay with Cullen not being an option, and then I actually met Dorian, and his personality was entirely a turn off for me. It really does come down to who he is more than what he looks like for me (though, admittedly, that does help).

Dorian is definitely attractive. Maybe a bit too pretty though. My main gripe is his personality and story.

Is it a hipster mustache or just an actual mustache?

A bit, with that little curl. It takes a type wax or styling product to accomplish that today, and most of the people I see with something like that have a hipster vibe. But then I live in one of the hipster capitals of the American west coast, so there are lots of things that might contribute to the hipster image here.

I love that mustache. I usually dislike mustaches, but Dorian wears it so well.

Goatees are still the best facial hair type, though.

Oh, I am sorry.  :P

He does wear it with both panache and aplomb.

Artifice and I are bookending the country in hipster capitals then. There about a billion 'Dorians' in Brooklyn...... It's why I immediately went to 'hipster' for the exact reasons that she mentioned. Although Dorian does really pull it off, even if its not my thing.

Out of pure curiosity, is 'hipster' an insulting description in the US? In many places here in Europe it's become a personal affront, that's why I'm asking.

Kinda? It's complicated, because hipster is a term that gets attached to everything that's trendy in a counter cultural way, and it also gets kind of lumped with a certain breed of pretension.

In some ways, it's just another unfair stereotype, because some of the things that are categorized as "hipster" are good ideas in my opinion. Be aware of where your food/beer/clothing are coming from and don't just buy and support what's easiest. Out of all Americans, hipsters are the group most known to be responsible consumers.

However, that kind of taking responsibility can develop into--or at least it's reputed to develop into--a certain sanctimoniousness. And that kind of attitude gets mocked in the U.S. mercilessly. Own a hybrid car, eat only locally sourced produce, know where and how your clothing is made, great. But if someone feels like they're being judged for not doing to same, they get tetchy.

I think it's a bit of both. Sometimes hipsters do look down on mainstream culture and sometimes people just feel like they do, but whether hipster is an insult really depends on the context.

Plus a lot of people who claim the title of hipster do so because it's trendy, not because they actually follow hipster behaviors. It's just an aesthetic for them, and a chance to be condescending to others.

Well, probably. I'm lucky, most of the people I know that I would consider a bit hipster wouldn't actually call themselves hipsters. And even though they might judge me for my willingness to go to Disneyland or watch summer blockbusters, at least most of them know how to prepare really good food and cocktails to make up for it. My favorite sandwich place near my house is run entirely by hipster boys. Some of them are a bit goofy, but they're all nice.

It's kind of funny how broad the hipster aesthetic really is. My first thought when I saw Elder Maxson was how hipster his hair and beard combo looked.

Speaking of which, check this out guys.

Well, I think it's a little uncanny.

I got the sex scene with Iron Bull, and after you decide on if you never needed to use to watch word or you've come close to using it, the dialogue options after that give you three choices. I've usually picked '' I love you. '' or '' Is that a proposal, dear? '' because they felt less chummy than '' We're together till the end. ''

The dialogue that starts after picking '' we b together till the end '' is so much more better than any of the other two choices, I've encountered! If you pick the teasing proposal subject, it's too humorous, if you pick the i love you he teases you about going soft on him. But not this one. The inquisitor implies the chance of either or both of them dying in this mission to save the world, to which Iron Bull quickly replies with '' Katoh. '' Then he gets kind of sentimental and emotional, saying that he just can't think or talk about such things, and that we'll HAVE to stay alive and make it through together.

This was a good day for experimenting with different dialogue options. For once I got something out of Iron Bull that I wanted, dependence, and proof that he DOES love me, not just for my body, but for me, and losing me would be extremely hard on him, to the point he doesn't even want to think or talk about it.

I know this thread is usually very hard on Bull, but I just wanted to share this awesome revelation. I fell in love with Bull a bit more today! He has definitely confirmed his position in my '' husband '' tag in tumblr.

Be sure to not miss his scene in Trespasser before attacking the Darvaarad. (Alot of people miss the scene because it's trigger is kind of buggy) It's the only scene that made me smile more than the one you just mentioned. I won't say more cause.. Spoilers if you haven't seen it.

I wonder how they handle Dorian in the next game. They wouldn't make previous characters to be romanceable and he could be in a relationship with both Iron Bull or the Inquisitor. I don't think he would be a companion and I don't want to since it could take away a potential spot for a gay character and we may get a gay NPC instead. We may get Maevaris as a companion in the next game, i feel like. Anyway, I can already imagine a templar gay KISA in Tevinter must feel pretty helpless, and you were there to give him hope to keep going or something. (Why does that remind me of Preston?)

Probably an adviser but hopefully a companion again.

They might cop out and use him as the token gay romance for a second time, too. I sure hope not, but... Laziness and things.

They said they wouldn't use a character romanceable by someone else. I wouldn't want him back. His story kinda ruins it for me, and he's too "pretty" for my taste, and I want a gay KISA, not a mage or a rogue, or something like that.

You can't really romance yourself now, can you? Well, you can, but I'm not sure if forever alone kind of knight is something I'm thinking of when talking about a KISA. :P

You mean the dialogue before entering the eluvian to get to Darvaarad? I was annoyed that Bull seemed so nonchalant about my possible death. Pales in comparison to how Dorian reacts.

Unless there's more..? I'll have to keep my eyes open, never completed Trespasser with Iron Bull romance!

I seriously doubt that they'd make Dorian the gay romance in two games in a row.  Especially because he can already be in a relationship with two different characters from DA: I.

I agree that Mae is likely to be the Lucerni companion and Dorian a major NPC instead.  This way, they can avoid all of the potential issues with his romances and introduce a new character for m/m.

I like the idea of a gay templar from Tevinter.  That could be an interesting character.  Plus, we know very little of that order (outside of them being mostly ineffective figure heads).  Could be interesting to explore it with a KISA.

I'm really curious how armors would work with Mae though. She doesn't have anything done on her, and the human male body is usually very muscular and the female has boobs and waist. Would she use an elven male body like with Sera and female human? What about her armor options? I like her and wouldn't mind using her but I wonder how they're gonna handle her if she's a companion though.

A gay templar from Tevinter is a double whammy. I hope they don't pull another gay woe is me again but then it's Tevinter and they're against gay. Seriously, is it necessary to even put it in? To make an afterschool special to show how terrible it is to be gay? I want the gay templar to not be ashamed of his identity, in fact, I hope it never brought as if it's an issue. Like with Iron Bull except with just the guys.

He does look very similar, but both DAI and FO4 have a lot of haircuts that are popular now (like the undercut) and it's really easy to get the "hipster look" (then again, I'm very un-hipster and I have an undercut too).
