I feally couldn't give a rats ass what kind of dialogue or what kind of personality the Inquisitor has in DA4. All I want is an ending to their story that feels complete and finished.

God, I HATE Cullen/Samson ... even more than Adoribull ....

I don't read gay Fanfiction; I'm really lame that way. Although I do slightly ship Dorian/Cullen though, despite that. I don't like Cullen/Anders; Becuase it doesn't really make sense. Like at all. Wtf should Cullen, a Templar who was tormented by Abomations, fall in love with a self destructive abomation Terroist that hates Templar so much he blows up chantries? Nevertless, I'm sincerely sorry if I hurt anyone feelings....

Oh and I like Danga/Sera too, so cute!

So they're not at all 'gay kisa' characters, but there is a gay couple featured prominently in the new Telltale Games Walking Dead: Michonne series.  You play as Michonne during her period of absence from the comics.  Your group runs into a rival group and two of them are a gay couple.  The game doesn't shy away from openly acknowledging it either.  When you first go back to their camp, they greet each other and hug in a clearly romantic way.  Then, later, you end up going to their quarters.  One of them is the group's doctor, so they have one of the best quarters and another character gives the doctor's partner grief about it.  Stuff like, "I understand why Jonas gets these quarters, but what do you do to earn this beside **** Jonas?"  I was kind of surprised to see it so blatantly mentioned.  <GASP> Gay men have sex with each other and it's not played as a joke?!?

Anyway, just wanted to acknowledge another game where there's gay characters (there was also another gay couple in Season 2 of the series, but they met with a pretty tragic fate and, in fact, you never see them together).  It's really refreshing to see how common it's becoming in games.

Hmm i tried playing walking dead games before, they've got good story and all, but all that gore... and yea the handling of the previous gay couple( though to be fair pretty much all characters had a tragic end there). But you are right, its great to see more diversity and representation in games.

Anyone watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica? It's a really good series, and they actually have a really good female KISA (in term of ideology) named Sayaka. I like characters like Archer (Fate Unlimited Blade Works) and Sayaka because they are KISA, but at the same time, it shows the dark side of being a self righteous knight. They are very often being betrayed by their ideas when the world doesn't turn out exactly like their ideas envision.

x03-Archer-speaks-with-Shirou.jpg

They both go from idealistic to become more jaded. I feel like it would be a good direction to explore such a character. Someone who is a KISA but has to struggle with the very idea of being a KISA. Being in Tevinter in the next game would be a perfect chance for them to explore such an idea. "Being good sucks", maybe we could talk to them and either reassure them that the sacrifice worth it or make them think that such a world is unrealistic and not worth saving, so you should look out for your own happiness instead.

I'll have to wait for reviews for this one. The representation is great, but as much as I loved Season 1, the second one felt a lot weaker. The story was all over the place, Kenny was brought back without a reason, and the game mechanics were so visible and unchanged from S1, that you could easily tell what would happen.

Regardless, this is a great thing, and I hope we get to see it more often.

I know this is a weird digression into TWD, but I might as well ask. I think this was... a couple of seasons ago? I don't actually watch the show (I did watch the pilot). This was right before Rick and co. got to the nice refuge where he finally got to bathe and shave and such. I used to listen to a morning zoo type radio show where the guys were huge TWD fans and did recaps every following Monday, so that's how I know some of what went on on the show (getting to the refuge and so on).

I only saw the last 10 or so minutes of this episode, so bear with me please... The groups were separated. Rick's group got help from these refuge people (who were out scouting or something). The other group was back at... uh... a gas station? (I'm sure this is wrong) And one of the guys got a bad leg (I think leg) injury. The leader of Rick's helpful group turns out to be Leg Guy's boyfriend. So when they all meet up, Leader Guy goes to see him and they kissed and were sweet and everything. Rick saw and he didn't seem to care that I observed. Of course, they're all so traumatized by everything I'm sure it's hard to care about anything other than survival.

It was a nice moment, and the guys seemed to have nice screen chemistry for the short scene that it was. Since there is so much death on the show I wondered if they survived. It stuck out for me for the representation and the sweetness of the scene (among the horror of the show), and that I just happened to see that scene in a show I don't watch. I know my description sucks, but these two can't be the ones you mentioned because you do see them together.

I remember that scene.  They've actually got a nice amount of gay representation on the show now.  There's the couple that you are talking about (they are both alive, btw).  Plus a lesbian character who joined them earlier.  This season, they've introduced two new characters:  a lesbian doctor who is, of course, already living with the established lesbian and a brand new character who, at least in the comics, is a gay badass (appropriate for the other gay thread).  They've done a good job with that on the show.  Of course, even though there's only been 6 gay characters (one was killed in an earlier season), there are people who are complaining that it's being (say it with me now) "shoved down their throat".

^ Thanks! I'm glad they're both still alive. I was thinking that the leg injury might have killed the one guy.

Heh, this is my favorite use of the phrase.

... ascribe that to either a gay or feminist agenda which is being "rammed down their throat" (an odd metaphor to select, if you ask me)...

It seems like that has to make an appearance at least once, somewhere, uttered by at least one person, every time this comes up. I saw something similar in a comment thread about the whole Star Wars thing.

Look, I'm open-minded. If someone spends an inordinate time about how the gay "agenda" is just shoved down their throat, well...

Love Sayaka.

Spoiler

I didn't even realize that she is a pretty good example of a knightly character, though a bit more rash than I would personally hope for.

My ideal KISA of either gender would definitely be more on the calm and steady side.

I haven't heard of this game, have you played it? The picture is cool but the body proportions look a bit off. Like, his head is either really small or his arms and legs are way too trunk-like.

I don't really know anything about the game, though I guess I should look into it. I've been collecting the artwork for it off of Pinterest, and I did find some other KISA types with more balanced proportions. I'll post them later.

I think the artwork is really cool...Maybe the game would be fun too, though I'm wary because I haven't ever heard a word about it outside of the art.

It looks like the clickbait-y ads for various app games that have no where near the appearance in-game, just with a man instead of a woman.

I mean, I'm not complaining, about time there was some Y chromosome based eye candy in those things...

Well, at least there's fanfiction (though I would really prefer not to read gay smut of canon straight characters ;; )

I think while I like the KISA, I also like a certain twist to it. I wouldn't say Sayaka is my favorite character, i was more Akuma Homura fan. I like Sayaka not because of how rash she is. She is definitely rash, but she also is the most idealistic , and most superhero like out of everyone in the group. She even has a cape like a superhero or a knight, and she fights with swords instead of magics. She's also the one who turned into a witch because of the world betrays her and she realizes how foolish her ideas are. I just like the trope

http://tvtropes.org/...ightInSourArmor

I don't think Bioware ever has such a character, someone who is idealistic, but then being betrayed by their own ideas. This is why I like characters like Archer and Sayaka since they both are KISA, but at the same time, they were being betrayed by the very own ideas they're trying to protect, so they become more jaded as a result. A KISA by themselves can be boring, but a KISA who is jaded could be a very interesting concept to explore. Even if they abandoned their ideas, it wouldn't because of them but because of the world around them that is not good enough for them.

It's a collectible card game for phones, Russian I think. The art is for the cards and all sourced from freelancers so there's a couple of tons of it floating around the internet if you cruise the right places.

Somewhere in the vastness of either this topic or one like it, at some point it was suggested that we get a character similar to this, that they spend like the first act in the service of the villain, only to recognize that they're the bad guy and turn on them after that point. I'd definitely be on board with this.

I'm not sure it's really a KISA and so not entirely in line with the thread, but the villain point reminds me that I've always wanted the male equivalent of a femme fatale in media.

I'm probably going to sit down and think of archetypes other than KISA that would be good to see and make a thread - things like the erudite intellectual (think Arcade).

I would love a character like that!

I actually made an OC that sorta fills this trope.

Spoiler

Though, I'd like to PLAY as a male femme fatale rather than have a male femme fatale as a villain/antagonist.. though I guess if they were a massive ****** it wouldn't bee too bad. Definitely a role that could work though.

OH I missed this. I'd like this too! Even though the idea of a KISA is nice, I've had some concerns that it would be a bit boring. Although boring can be a nice shift on occasion! But this sounds deliciously angsty.

There are some limited elements of that with Alistair's personal quest in DAO, especially if you decide to harden him. It would be interesting if the PC is the one to shake some of those values. I don't mean in a super destructive way, but in a way that causes inner conflict for the NPC. Because we're the PC, too often you get a situation like with the Blackwall friendship, where he sees the ideal and is inspired to live up to that. The opposite might be an interesting experiment.

I can sort of use my own Inquisitor as an example. He is a Trevelyan Andrastian, but he does not go along with the whole Herald of Andraste business for various reasons. During the faith conversation with Dorian, he will say that he "believe[s] in you," that he does think the Maker sent you, and that "you are our bulwark against evil." That last line in particular had a major impact on my Inquisitor and adds to a lot of his faith issues throughout the game. That is the sort of PC/NPC influence I'm referring to. The person says or does whatever thing and the unintended consequence is some sort of internal crisis.

I know it's a little cheesy but I'd love a KISA who starts as a loyal soldier of the antagonist and then realizes that his/her patron is actually on the wrong side, eventually defecting to your side. Like if Cauthrien could have been talked down and recruited in Denerim.
