Speaking of James Purefoy, even though the role was very small, I really liked how he portrayed Kantos Kan in the John Carter movie -- bit of humor, but an overall good, solid, soldier type of character.

I really quite enjoy the Barsoom novels, but as badass as the Martian women are, they're still objects to be rescued for the most part. The series as a whole is full of tropes. John Carter is one of those "masculine ideal" types that is never portrayed as gay, and it really makes me wonder how different the Barsoom novels would have been if he were, and 2.5/3 of the original trilogy did not revolve around rescuing his love interest (later wife).

There is a lot of strong brotherhood and soldier-type affection between men -- Edgar Rice Burroughs doesn't shy away from that -- and it seems like it might take a small nudge to push it over into something more. Now, don't take this to mean that there are any undertones (I really don't think there are) but rather that an author with a different mentality, or writing in a different time (1912 for the first novel), could have presented it just a tad differently to let the reader think otherwise.

Of course, the above is rather hypocritical of me, since one of the reasons I dislike slash fanfiction and excessive 'shipping is because I find it irksome that men can't be presented as being close friends without some people going, "Now kiss! *smoosh faces together*"

But I digress. Gay John Carter, please, with no absurd rescuing of anybody as there are plenty of other conflicts to be had. He does fit the KISA mold as far as having strong ideals and values, a sense of right and wrong and justness, but just replace the "armor" with a leather harness and you're all set.

Ha! I just realized that it could be interpreted that I'm saying I miss the character, but I'm talking about the OP. Sandalisthemaker. I miss him.

Not sure if that was how it seemed to you, but it's not wrong either way. I miss Sandal the character, too. There was an Sandal Easter Egg in the Trespasser DLC where he said "Enchantment!" about 20 times. Is that what you were thinking of?

So not 100% sure if this one qualifies or not but might have another example from the same game Amukiki came from. Karen is a f/f only option in the 'Loren Amazon Princess' game and she is Queen Amazon found it kind of cool how interacting with her in some instances were different between male and female, for example there's one conversation where you get the option to apologize or don't apologize to her she approves of the female character not apologizing and it raises her affection but gets quite angry with the male character for doing the same.

Unfortunately there is quite a bit of Carth Syndrome in her romance so if you have a low tolerance for it I can't recommend her. What I like about Karen is how she does through most of the game have a cool head about situations but at the same time a very kind heart even if in most of the game you need to do a bit of 'fixing' though I have no idea how long the time line is in the game for all I know it's a few months and considering what happened to her I can over look that. As for her romance I found it very sweet as well especially whenever she brings up that she will not always be queen and would like the player character to approach her as equals instead of the player character approaching her as a servant.

I miss you guys too!

I'm really busy with school ATM and have to limit my time online and focus on my studies.   I'll be able to post more regularly again at the end of the semester.

But I am glad to see that this thread is still trucking along!

Hugs and kisses to you all!

Oh I have such plans..

* If my Male Mage Lavellan Cassandra Romance Quiz incase he isn't quiz, I'm probaly gonna have a Lesbian Character. She'll be a Dwarf Warrior.

For my Lady Goddess,

* Female Human Mage. Straight. To keep up with the tradionts and all of dat.

For my Woohhiee Lavellan,

*Hmm, Elf. Elf Rogue. She'll be bisexual I believe, and end up in a relationship with another girl though.

For my Lovely All so Sweet Canon,

* Human Warrior/Rogue. Guy. Is straight.

Not really, it's more like having to censor yourself, because a discussion about spouses is limited to heterosexual ones, and talk about sexual attraction is limited only to the opposite gender. It's about double standards.

Whenever I talk about my disorder, people speak down to me, so yeah, I pefrectly understand "Censor ones self".

Since we are talking about other games that have romanceable gay KISAs, I was just playing Pendragon Rising. It's a text-based 'choose your own adventure' style game by Choice of Games. You can either play it online or download it as an app. It's loosely based on Arthurian legends.

The game has TRUE 'playersexuality' in that some of the characters will change their gender and sexuality based on the gender and sexuality of the PC. I just did a playthrough where I romanced Gawain, who was just about the quintessential gay KISA, but if you are a straight woman, he's straight. And if you play as a female character, he's a warrior woman named Yvaine.

Just thought fellow KISA fans might want a way to kill time.

That's pretty cool.

I hope that the '' awkward shy inexperienced '' blonde prince trope is either destroyed in the next game or reserved for a bi/gay guy.

We had Zevran, Anders, and Fenris as the light haired LIs (vs only Dorian). I'd prefer darker hair. Either way, Alistair and Cullen ended up looking way too similar.

Yep.  And that's why I get annoyed when people call Anders and Kaidan "playersexual" when there's actual playersexuality out there in games.

And Gawain hits all of the KISA points, so I recommend checking it out if you are into text games.

I have to post this, because I may never get a chance like this again. And because Spamalot is amazing.

When they broke into song in Inquisition, I was thinking about this throughout, and was waiting for Cullen to go "and now we change the key."

Sara Ramirez was genius in Spamalot.  It's crazy to me that so many people know of her solely from Grey's Anatomy and have no idea how great she is on stage.  She's a Tony Award winner with one of the best voices and most amazing comic timing.

<back to quasi-ghost mode>

ETA:  It's kind of on topic too because Lancelot's (played by the adorable Hank Azaria) gay in Spamalot!

She was replaced for a few of the last performances, and it was a lot worse. She was spectacular, and her talent for both singing and for comedy is severely underused in Grey's Anatomy. And she deserves to be the main character in her own series, not a secondary character in a show that does not always know what to do with her.

Sorry, back to the topic.
