I also follow this project, I'm curious. It looks promising, and I like the graphics.

^ I'd say the happy m/m depends on the couple you're looking at. The Zevran romance plays out the same for both and he eventually joins his Warden in DAI. The Fenris romance is also pretty good; a living Hawke who now runs Kirkwall with Varric is probably the happiest m/m scenario across all three games, simply because Hawke is in a stable position. And uh... maybe the Iron Bull/Inquisitor one? I don't really know how that plays out.

Personally, the only scenarios that I see as not being happy are ones where, say, you romanced Anders but couldn't forgive him, or you romanced Bull but sacrificed the Chargers. But these are very conditional, and you can just as easily be happily committed to Tal-Vashoth Bull or to Anders and his mage freedom shtick. Dorian's separated by distance, but the love is still there. Zevran and Fenris remain at the protagonist's side, presumably as devoted and in love as ever (read: very ).

But it depends on one's definition of happy. A lot of people felt like Trespasser was a sad/bad/tragic ending, but I was elated! The Mark wasn't killing my Inquisitor, she no longer had the weight of the Inquisition on her shoulders, she was in a committed loving relationship, etc. Her only worry was Solas.

So, different strokes. I suspect there are more happy endings on the horizon.

Yeah, well, I read the scenario with Dorian much differently - he drops their relationship becoming a long distance one in their lap unexpectedly, they're the last to know about it, and basically says 'no, you can't come, here, have my medieval fantasy Skype number BYYYYYYYYE!' That's grounds for a break up in my book because it's disrespectful. You don't unilaterally change the relationship's status without any kind of discussion on the matter. And the Inquisitor is so PASSIVE about it, too. From the moment I first saw that scene, I was incensed, and yet none of the dialogue choices really allow that kind of reaction, we're expected to just put up with it. Especially considering that the ending slides honestly gave the impression that they don't see each other in person very often, and when they do, it's solely the Inquisitor dropping everything and going to him, never Dorian doing the same.

 

I found it particularly appalling considering that post lock-in scene where he is asking about what comes next, where he wants this to be more than just a fling, but can't bring himself to ask. It's disrespectful of the person he's with and the relationship itself to not even discuss this big change. And it pissed me off considering the permanence a lot of the other relationships got out of Trespasser.

To fuel this thread with KISA ideas, I'm gonna share the game I was talking about, since the demo is out.

Eldet's kickstarter is here, and it's already funded with 28 days to go, so the project will probably end up being bigger than planned. Sadly, it has a September 2017 launch date. As I've said, the demo is out, it's 100% SFW (the finished game will have optional adult content).

I'm really excited for it, the game puts a lot of emphasis on diversity, when it comes to both ethnicity and body types, and I'd really like for BW to do the same.

 

All of those guys are smoking hot, and I'm glad for a bit of diversity in the cast. I feel like the guys are mostly variations on one body type, though, rather than a wide range of body types. They all seem to be built but not bulky with some tasteful fur. I wouldn't mind having a few more slim/slender builds and some bulkier builds, with a bit more variety in body hair. Not a real complaint, more of a suggestion.

 

Although it is a little off putting for me to see the elf guy being the most built and with the most body hair. That's just a complete reversal of elf stereotypes lol

I don't dislike the elf, but it's a bit of visual dissonance for me when my mind is trained to think of elves as willowy, potentially effeminate or androgynous. Honestly the picture looks like a hot hairy guy who's wearing fake elf ears.

It doesn't show that well in that picture, but two of those are actually quite bearish. They're certainly more chubby than it's usually allowed. I haven't seen something like that in most games, which is sad, because I enjoy this body type.

I'm glad that he didn't go with the popular depiction of elves, DA's design made me never want to romance one (it's fine if others like it, just not my cup of tea).

Anyway, with the usual gay themed games featuring only slim and muscular but lean body types, he decided to go the other way (aside from the third guy, he is pretty lean and tiny compared to the others). I don't think I've ever seen him do thin characters, which is, honestly, fine by me. Most of them also have facial hair, something you also don't get often with gay characters (at least in this type of games).

Sweet! I remember you posting about this in here (not like I keep lurking or anything, coughcough) and downloaded the Demo when it came out. Good to see this is really going somewhere!

I mean it's certainly possible. Coming Out On Top (a gay dating sim made with the same tools) lets you select body and facial hair, which did look weird with some combinations  But that game had a far more simple visual design than this one. But it would be cool to have, maybe it will be added as one of the stretch goals.

I'm not sure, which demo you mean, the earlier or the one that came out just a few days ago - if it's the former, then be sure to check out the new one, it's longer then the previous one. Too bad it ends on a cliff hanger, because I want to know more and have to wait a year to see it

Tariq is quite the charmer and I thought it was amusing that we didn't see a single word from Farron. There was a decent range of RP choices. Because of RP, I avoided all of the flirty stuff, so it will be interesting to see how the romances play out if you wait a bit to get to know them before doing any of that.

I was pleasantly surprised at how long the demo actually was. Every time the scene faded to black I expected it to end. It seems like the entirety of the demo amounts to the prologue and sets up the whole story.

Yep, they are really good looking, I'll have to play it though a few times. It's so weird to have that much choice   I'll have a real dilemma, who to pick first, because Tariq is really charming. And the scenes with Farron were funny, especially trying to complement him with a limited language knowledge.

I think Marccus mentioned finishing his degree and concentrating on art, so with so much time left 'till the launch, I expect this game to get pretty beefy. Plus it's, just like BW games, a story that can be played without romancing anyone, so there has to be quite a lot of content.

It's kind of silly to plan too much ahead since we have over a year (!!) to go, but perhaps I won't romance anyone on the first play... The last time I did that was with my very first play of DAO on release in 2009. I suppose I stumbled into that happenstance with my dialogue choices since I didn't know there were romances to play out or avoid in the first place. But I do have fond memories of that first play, and it also gives you a good jumping off point of the characters for the following plays. I'll admit that is sort of metagamey, but it can be fun to know a LI in advance and just go right for them. Or maybe I'll just wing it and see who I fall for. Who knows! XD

I think I'll probably just play through it and decide naturally. With BW games I usually um...scout ahead, so I don't get too disappointed that something is unavailable. But since all of the options here are open, there's no need for it.

I also did a romance-less first run of DAO, but that had more to do with the fact that I did not really like Zevran's romance. I took a spoiler free approach with DA2, and it worked out ok, but nowadays it's hard for me to not seek out info before the launch. I'll probably read all there is to read about MEA, while I wait for the release

It'll be a tough choice between the elf and that guy, for me.
