Its hard not to love him isn't it? I'd roll a male PC so quickly if there was a m/m romance with a character like him

We just love going for impossible dreams for our LIs, don't we?  :P

...You just reminded me of my high school crush on Golitah.

Sidenote, the character Lexington according to WoG is gay. He was who I identified with the most too!

Hey, I remember hearing about that.  Lexington was pretty damned cool too.

Would you guys rather prefer a shy guy who is new to experiencing and acting upon his romantic desires/feelings for other men, or a more aggressive guy who knows exactly what he wants?

(also sorry for focusing on men OTL I can't help it.)

More aggressive, if we're going with a KISA.  Not extremely so, but more so than say, Alistair.  The "bumbling virgin shy guy" is cute the first few dozen times you see it with men.  After awhile, it gets old.  That's just me though.

Aggressive. Confidence is power and power is sexy.

Might as well aim high and ask for the best ;)

Lexington and Goliath were my first crushes I got so upset when I heard that his writer wanted him to be gay on the show but got told no then the show went out of its way to show him going goo goo eye over women. I heard that he came out in the comic though which is wonderful news.

How about somewhat aggressive and knows what he wants, but is still a virgin, or at least relatively inexperienced? It'd be nice to see a break from gay/bi = sexually promiscuous, and also from virgin = shy/reluctant.

Oh goodness, I know I'm spamming the thread with him, but he's just so adorkable. Fiance literally was this when we first met. I'm actually his first everything. Seeing him go from Alistair to...well not Alistair has been quite the treat. He even went back home and had  Goldana like family quest.

Me? Definitely closest to Isabela or Zevran, with a sprinkle of Morrigan.

Now that you said it, I'd love for them to start out shy, then totally get the hang of it and take the reins on the whole thing. ;D

I would be tickled if my poor PC got the rug pulled out from under him when he is pinned to the wall or something after their first tim-... D8 I don't want us to get in trouble so I'll stop there lol.

or just leave the past experiences vague, but still have him be confident. but yes virgin does not equal reluctant.

So long as they make it clear that he is gay and/or not straight.  Mention a boyfriend or something like that.  I don't want another "playersexual" mess on our hands.

Note: I'm not saying that demi and/or sexually ambiguous characters are automatically playersexual at all.  I am saying that if there is more of a clear definition of a character's sexuality that we're supposed to understand, there should be no room for doubt.

In addition to my previous list, I just realized that someone like Duncan would be perf for a KISA in the next game. While a rascal in youth, he grew up to be a noble and determined man who did what he thought was best and saw the good in people. He saved Daveth from being hanged, much like he, himself was when he was young. It's a shame we didn't get more time with him in Origins.

Thinking about it, I would also like a KISA that I could be friends with.  Someone that doesn't just sweep me off of my feet romantically, but I can also have a close friendship with.  Love and romance is all well and good, but I can tell you from experience that laughter and friendship are just as valuable in a romantic relationship.  If not more so, in some cases.

I hope we get a prince or a king as a LI. I don't know why all the royals are straight even in a playersexual setting like DA2 with Sebastian. Reading Disney story, I always wish there is a gay prince charming.

<flinch>

Since all but one of the LIs was confirmed to be bisexual, could you please not use that term?  If we want to get technical, any and all LIs are playersexual, because they fall for the player if you are the right gender (or race, in the cases of Cullen and Solas.)

Otherwise, I agree with your sentiment.

To this post i want to add one thing.

I'm not against gay character but i don't think it is really right thing then majority of companions are gay or bi. It wasn't so in DA:O.

In DA:2 i was not comfortable then in dialogs with his crew my male character always have option to gay-romance someone.

It is not realistic - not in real world, not in world of Thedas. Not half of the man are gay, then thy it is so in hero company?

I mean, it is ok to be gay and be open about it. But majority of gamers here is still straight in it is not very interesting to play gay-romance dream added for gay community approval. When devs try to add this options just for equality it isn't looking real. Maybe it is still possible (i think it isn't but maybe in next game) add some slider/checkbox to game where you can choose if u want to have few gay romance options or many of them.

PS. Sorry for my english. Obviously im not native speaker. Becouse of that some of my replies may sound like offencive but really it isn't. I just try to express my concerns with my limited vocabulary.

...You're serious.  Okay.

We have: two bisexual characters, one gay character and one lesbian character in for our LIs.   We have two straight men, one straight woman.

The majority of the cast isn't LGBT.  It looks pretty split down the middle, with one extra bisexual character. If you exclude the advisers, we have one bisexual male, one lesbian, and one gay guy.  Cole is a special case; Varric is straight; Cass is straight; Vivenne might be straight.   Yep, that's a real majority going on there.

Sorry, but if one extra LGBT LI is too much, maybe this isn't the series for you.  We aren't trying to steal all the candy in your dish.

Also, to make this very clear, no one in this thread is asking for an extra gay and/or lesbian romance to be added for the sake for a LGBT romance.  However, we know that BioWare is going to have gay and lesbian love interests again down the road.  Whether or not you like it, that's a fact.  They are also talking about adding an asexual romance as well, so they are curious about and are interested in exploring different preferences.

Ever think that the DA team does this because they like to explore these concepts and lifestyles as writers and creators, and don't give a toss if folks think they are doing it to "cater" to anyone are not?  It's something you should consider.

What this thread is requesting is the Knight in Shining Armor archetype for the gay and lesbian romances down the road.  It's that simple.  It's no different then polite requests for say, a dwarven romance or a cute redhead to romance like Leliana.  Please, be respectful and don't assume that just because it's a LGBT orientation thread that we're asking for more options.

Okay, okay, fair enough.  As far as I can tell, she's straight.  I know, careless of me .  I apologize.

Let me try this: Her sexuality probably isn't gong to come into a real play in any case, and to say that a majority of the cast is LGBT is off the mark.

Even if Vivienne isn't straight (which hey, she doesn't have to be a LGBT love interest just because she might be LGBT,) I don't see how that's a terrible or threatening thing.

Why is the LGBT community so scary for some?  Oooh, we're going to be not straight and act...like most people do.

Spooky.

I can see why it might seem a little jarring in DA:2 that all the romance options are bisexual (though personally i felt it made sense for the characters). That said, if you didn't want to romance them you didn't have to do so. I don't see why having an option available that isn't forced on you should be a problem. As a gay man a huge number of games i play have my character flirting with women whether I want them to or not, and while I would like more options I'm not offended by it.

It's also worth noting that there are plenty of straight players who do play the same sex romances. Several of them have posted in this thread and others like it. Even without that bioware have the stats on who romanced who as what gender and according to them either there are far more gay players than people think or quite a lot of straight players play the gay romances as well (they talk about it here, don't remember when exactly). So the devs are not adding it just for gay community approval,

I don't think they will ever add a slider/checkbox for gay romance - or at least I hope they don't. While it in no way affects me how anyone else plays a game having the option to click a button and make gay characters suddenly not gay (or at least in the closet) would bother me on principle. Hell even if they had the same option to turn off straight romances it would bother me.

Yeah, bad girl, calling anyone straight by default when we don't know of their sexuality. :P

Awww someone is uncomfortable. It's fine for gay people to be uncomfortable with so many straight characters hitting on their character but it's not fine for straight people? Please.

Your post makes me laugh tbh, with something so little you take it and you make it bigger than the Pisa tower.
