I don't see how they can be lighthearted and carefree. They have to die in tunnels with darkspawn. It's so metal it hurts.

Knight in Shining Armor.

I love the term KISA.  It has the first three letters of "kiss" in it.  Just rolls off the tongue.

Before you completely vanish, may I ask what language that is?

My best friend of 17 years is a Russian immigrant, and came to the US on political asylum.  He came here in 1990, as a former Soviet.

I hated the ignorance that was going on in that other thread earlier.  You're fine by me. <hugs>

And now, for some early morning giggles before I try to get my sorry butt to bed:

A KISA is important to me for these reasons:

Physicality

A knight, as usually depicted is strong and powerful. He physically represents the idea of masculinity. The easiest way to depict a man as not "masculine" is to have him more slight in figure. This is also the reason why there aren't usually two imposing male leads in a movie, especially when one of those roles in an antagonist

(see Leonidas vs Xerxes in 300)

Presence

Related to the above post, a non heterosexual male character will have usually have substantially diminished visibility. Not only in terms of time displayed, but also in how they are displayed. They will often be demure if a protagonst, or sniveling if an antagonist, or just generally not assertive, and no one will take them seriously.

Morality

The bread and butter of the KISA. As has been discussed a few times already, most nonhet males in media are of the morally grey variety, or at least less upstanding than their straight heroic brethren...which brings me to my last point:

Familiarity

Knights are part of a brotherhood. It may not be an actual roundtable or what have you, but the thing about a knight is there are people wiling to stand for, with, and by him. Often, if portrayed, he will have a command position, be generally respected and loved by his associates and even the community at large. A nonhet male character usually does not get these things. And this is the one that probably hits closest to home for many young men out there who are looking for this type of representation me.

Sure a played three sports in high school, and was raised in a devoutly Christian home, but points two and especially four were lacking growing up. I didn't become assertive until my first year of college (it wasn't until junior year of high school that I didn't think I was hideous), and while I was on the various teams, I knew I was an outsider, because the unconscious homoerotic things that young men do, weren't unconscious to me, I picked up on them all, and so I withdrew, because back then (even though it hasn't even been 10 years since then, we've come a long way baby) it just wasn't safe (mostly emotionally/socially).

And now I have my Fiance who is ALL of these things, and I just...ok this has gone on too long.

I just want a buff, noble and kind man to sweep my male pc off his feet and carry him home into their castle. :P Amazing facial hair not required but enjoyed.

As a bisexual woman, having a black LI not refer to me as "The priiiizeee" would be very welcome.

I guess a picture would be easier haha. So depending on the day (or hour) my type for men would be:

I'd ask if you've ever licked a lamppost in winter, but I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that.

I'm out of likes, so I owe each poster above 1 like/quote!

Also, eye, I totally agree about rugby build.  I was watching the USvNZ game the other day with my husband and we couldn't even focus on the game because every guy was smokingly hot with a thick body like that guy in your post.  Geez.  Where's that damned Blanche gif again?

Man, as soon as I went to bed everyone started fighting. ;w; I'm glad its over now!

Also, I have an honest question for everyone, do you think Bioware has looked at this thread and actually considered what we have said and wanted? Someone's said this is when they are developing the next game and I just really REALLY want a companion or LI like this for the next game.

But, as much as I'd love them to be royal, I don't at the same time. I really don't want my PC being shuffled into the mistress catagory (I actually have no idea what the male form of mistress is //sob) and have to watch from afar the guy I really like be with someone else, while I only get to be with him in private...

I wouldn't be surprised to know that some of the devs have seen this thread.  Allan tends to monitor threads with topics like these, even if he doesn't post in them.  And the fact that it's going on almost 40 pages in about a week is probably enough to draw the attention of any devs who happen to wander into this section of the board.

That being said, I suspect that most of the devs had way more on their plate in the past week than usual and, if I were them, would probably be avoiding the BSN like a plague.  Also, even if they do happen to see the thread, it's more likely that they think, "Hm, interesting" and leave it at that, unless they happen to be a writer and the concept resonated with them.

They've said that they were working on DA: I before DA 2 was released, so it's likely that they've been working on the early development of DA 4 already.  If so, then they probably have at least rough ideas of the characters already.  I have no idea what the process is like, so I don't know how drastically a character could change or be added/deleted at this point.

I see six possible outcomes:

*  Perhaps there's a character who this topic could easily relate to and it's not a major change, so it can be implemented.

*  Perhaps there's a character that it relates to, but it's too drastic of a change and doesn't fit the story.

*  Perhaps there are no characters that this relates to, but there is time to add one still.

*  Perhaps there are no characters that it relates to, and there is no time to add one at this point.

*  Perhaps they aren't interested in adding a character like for DA 4, regardless of timing.

and (my favorite)

*  Perhaps there already IS a character like this in the works!

Nope.

as mutch as i would like to see it. no i dont think they have read this thread.

there is tomutch SJW crud going on DEMANDING rubbish and to mutch Rightwing smeg going on DEMANDING the opposit.

id rather Bioware do there own thing and make a greate game whit a wide assortment of awesome characters.

and while i want them to heed our words but would rather they make the characters ther think fits the story..
