If anything, what is not realistic is one or two token gay people hanging out with a bunch of straight people.  That doesn't often happen in real life.  LGBT folks have internal homing devices that allow them to find each other (probably because we make an effort to find people who will accept us, and in doing so accidentally find each other more often than not).  The majority of my friend group is lesbian or bisexual, and most of them came out to me after we'd been friends for a long time.

This is my personal experience as well. I had a group of core friends in high school and all of us were "straight." Now that were all "adult" college graduates, it turns out only one of us was actually straight. Everyone else came out as gay, lesbian, or bisexual.

So yeah, I don't find it odd that four bisexual people know each other.

A lot of my friends ended up dating each other in high school, before they realized what their sexuality were. I knew one guy who had five different girlfriends throughout high school, and all of them eventually came out as lesbians.

When I got in touch with some of my old female friends from high school, out of 5 of them, 3 of them came out as bisexual years after graduation.  One close guy friend of mine that I had gone to high school with came out of the closet big time as bisexual when he turned 20.  It was a bit of a surprise at the time, although looking back it was fairly obvious.  So yeah, that can certainly happen like that quite a bit.

I don't know any gay people, so I admit to not understanding them very well.

Hey, I really appreciate your honesty here.   :)

If you have any questions, let us know.  As long as you're polite, don't be afraid of sounding silly or most of us taking automatic offense at your words either.

This is actually quite true.  There is a lot of people out there that would be surprised at the number of folks that stay in the closet even around close friends and family.  To be fair, I think the poster trying to get at that, if nothing else, they don't know anyone that lives a LGBT lifestyle and might not have much understanding of some of gay culture as a result.

If I'm wrong Vanth, then please let me know.   :)

I choked on this, because it seems like everyday, a new letter is added. Maybe we'll start getting into double and hyphenated letters!

Can I buy a vowel?  An "O"

Yes, there is one O - "Omnisexual"  (I think I saw that one on the forums the other day, too.)

Yes, there is a vowel!  Now spin the wheel!

Okay, new recount:

I can empathize with folks outside of the LGBT community that are having trouble keeping some of this straight (no pun intended.)  I am LGBT and even I get lost sometimes.   :P

It's times like this when I start to lose faith in labels and want to just call everything "the Spectrum."

I didn't see the narrative trying to punish her. I saw her punishing herself. Quite successfully. Her and her former friend. (Though the former friend seems to relent, even if I see no evidence that she repents.)

I was never given the option to tell Sigrun that it wasn't her fault, or that she shouldn't punish herself for things that were out of control when now that she has some agency, she's being a good person, or that her friend should eff off with the guilt trips and blame Orzammar/Beraht instead of Sigrun. And I played as a Brosca who pretty much had the exact same origin story as her. I either had to affirm her self narrative or be like "nah dog stealing is great!!!" Or whatever. So to me it did feel like narrative punishment.

I do agree she was self punishing. I just wanted to not enable it.

I remember such options. You're allowed to tell Mischa during the initial encounter that "Sigrun has paid for her crimes," and when Sigrun asks for a chance to make things right with her you're allowed to say "She was too hard on you." (I wish we'd had the option to continue pressing the matter after Sigrun defends Mischa, but we had the option that prompted her to.)

I was about to vomit a book of Sigrun/Casteless feelings here, but that's so off topic ...so.... I'll just say I disagree! :) and also that I want a dwarven KISA lady.

I really loved Sigrun, and I'd love a f/f dwarven LI that was similiar to her....only without the atonement angst and a warrior spec (which she basically was haha). She was cheerful, devoted to being good, dedicated to an order, and a badass. Thinking of her as a Kisa... I could even accept that she had a dodgy past given how noble she was in the story, but was put off by how much the narrative wanted to punish her for that.

Actually, I think atonement and redemption are really appealing parts of noble characters.  A noble character who never breaches their own moral code is bland.  A noble character with a dark past that they deeply regret and desperately try to atone for is

I agree, I just didn't think Sigrun had anything to atone for...so probably getting a rant crossed in there with my presentation of a KISA.

What is the difference between pansexuality and omnisexuality?

What is the difference between pansexuality and omnisexuality?

Pansexuality, I think, places emphasis on how attractive you find this person's personality. I'm not sure omnisexuality has any emphasis apart from your partner having a pulse. (Edit: And consent, since those leanings are across an altogether different spectrum.) (Of course, I could be wrong, since I'm neither. And of course this assume there is a difference, since Iron Bull is described as "pan" and seems pretty "omni.")

I'd actually like to hear that, because I'm not sure, and every definition I've seen of it has been defining it in contrast to pansexuality in a context where bisexuality is "bad" and pansexuality is the "non transphobic version of bisexual" while omni is "gender blind." I can't imagine that's the only way it's framed though.

I'm pretty curious as well.  While my understanding of the subjects is growing, there is still a lot that I don't quite get.   I would love to hear more from someone that identifies as omnisexual.

I have no idea.  I only brought it up because I remember seeing it the other day on the forums and having a moment where I thought......"I'll never get these straight...Why can't I just use the four letters I understand.....?"

As a pansexual person, my view of pansexuality is attraction to any gender, including those that are non-binary. Whether more or less emphasis is placed on personality or physicality is an individual thing.

I have not heard of omnisexuality aside from as a synonym for pansexuality.

I have heard it as a different sexuality but again only in ( what I perceive to be) biphobic contexts.

I am sure there are ways to define it outside of that, though. I don't mean people actually do that---I just don't know, so I don't want to preclude the possibility since sexuality is so complex and personal. :)
