So! Good news. Dorian is tied to the main narrative. REALLY tied. :P Also, he's dashing, like Robin Hood. (And there's this scene where he hits enemies physically with his staff, and I got really jealous).

No, it happens in his first scene, he attacks demons by whacking at them with his staff, only in one specific cutscene though.

ANYWAY, I've just played through the Iron Bull romance, and I feel disappointed. He constantly mentions that we 'need' someone else to be in charge and the PC doesn't have an option to tell him we need something else. The only options are 'yes' and 'I want to end this'. And it doesn't end there. Pretty much every conversations after refers to us being the bottom, and/or taking it. It would be totally fine... had I said I wanted to.

What's worse is that he even mentions that he does let people top, including several serving girls and a Qunari 'healer', and that 'Everybody Won'. It feels like he'll let everyone top, and even enjoy it, except the Inquisitor and that feels weird.

Also, the romance is confirmed completed and yet, no romance achievement.

Ugh. My thread keeps getting buried under an avalanche of duplicate complaint threads.

Anyone find a KISA NPC?

I find it funny how all the important and politically influence characters are straight. Morrigan, Alistair, Cassandra, Sebastian, Cullen.

That is great news that he is important to the main plot. I was a little worried that he would be completely irrelevant like Zevran.

I am romancing him currently but am in the very early stages.

Hmmmm......   Yeah, I don't know about Bull.  I'm not crazy about romancing him with my second character with the way it's been going so far with my first character.  He just seems to have nothing to say.  I've already gotten around 3 cutscenes with both Varric and Cassandra, and none with Bull save for his recruitment. I liked that there is flirting between him and Dorian though.  It's a bit too kinky S&M variety ( that I was pretty much expecting ).  But at least he doesn't only show interest in women.

Yeah. And also, I was a bit bummed that none of t romances the gay or Bi companions were recruitable early on.  Although, I am playing slowly so that may be part of the problem. I didn't get Dorian or Bull untill many, many hours into the game.

I had the same thing with Bull until I took him to go kill the dragon in the Hinterlands.  I was level 12 when I did it and it was a challenging fight, but I go through on my first attempt.  Bull got adorably geeked out by the idea of killing a dragon and had banter the whole way walking over towards it about how excited he was.  Then he had banter right after it was killed.  When I got back to Skyhold, I went to talk to him and a ton of new conversations opened up.  I got to meet the rest of the Chargers.  I got to learn about Seheron.  I got to watch him and Krem practice sparring.  Now I just got a personal quest of his.  I can't keep him quiet now.  He's growing on.  I'm sure that I would have had some flirt options in there too, but I had already sealed in my romance with Dorian by this point.

Interestingly, I haven't seen Bull show any interest in men outside of some luke-warm flirting with me to begin with.

No gay KISA's as far as I can see.  Dorian is definitely not a KISA.  He's charming, but super arrogant and, I have to be honest, he's a little annoying to romance because he's moody and a little bitchy.  It's been worth it (dat azz), but I will definitely romance Bull next time.  I was concerned I'd love him like I loved Kaidan and never get around to romancing Bull, but that's definitely not going to happen.

Aw, no gay KISA NPCs. Too bad.  It was a long shot though.

So I have to kill a dragon with Bull to get him to open up. You found Dorian annoying?  I think he is fabulous especially paired with Vivienne. At least so far.  Although I have not gotten far in Dorian's romance at all. Just a couple of flirts.

I find Dorian a little annoying.  He's too moody for my liking.  I can think of at least three different times in his personal quests when he either snaps at the Inquisitor or is dismissive.  He always apologizes for it afterwards, but it's a trait that I really can't stand in real life, so it just rubs me the wrong way.  That being said, I still love him as a character.  He's dashing and witty and glib and charming.  I love his dynamic with Vivienne (who is secretly my favorite <3).  I just don't find him to be perfect.  He's great, but not perfect.  Which is totally fine.

I will probably find Bull a little annoying to romance as well.  He's too domineering.  I'm planning on romancing him with a wise-cracking Carta dwarf.  He doesn't "need" a man to take charge, but I don't think you can romance Bull otherwise.  I'm not sure if you need to beat a dragon to get him to open up or if he just gained a ****-ton of approval from the battle and that tipped the scales and he opened up because of that.

To me, I'd say that Dorian and Bull are both preferable to all of the past DA m/m romances.

I'd put them:  Dorian > Bull > Anders > Fenris > Zevran

^Yeah, I'm not a fan of Anders or Zevran.  Fenris is okay, though.

Dorian seems great.  He's witty and very intelligent.  He's....cheeky for the lulz. At least that's the impression I'm getting from his interactions with the other companions through banter. I think he hams it up because he get's a kick out of it.  My Inquisitor definitely does.

I love Vivienne too. Ugh, the things she has to put up with from both Blackwall and Sera. Lmao.  She endures it with grace and poise though. So fabulous.

I still haven't romanced Dorian so... but I'd put Bull behind Anders for sure. And yes, he does require your Inquisitor to 'need' someone else to take charge.

The Dragon just gives him a ridiculous amount of approval, I don't think it's required. BUT you must kill a dragon with him to be considered the best of friends (there's an achievement to recieve three of these).

Man we need a KISA.

Is it just me or the romance in this game wasn't that good for m/m? Dorian's romance is filled with cliche. His family doesn't accept him so he rebels then his scene is about gay males' noncommitment to relationship. IronBull's romance seems to be treated like a joke. I would really want some sweet romantic romance. Seem like nothing is gonna surpassed Kaidan, and his romance is not even written for m/m in mind.

I agree.  They are good, but not great.  I also found Anders and Fenris' romance arcs to be good but not not great.  The only great one so far was Kaidan.  Steve had the potential, but since he was an NPC with a reduced role, it just never felt up to its potential.  Sky was okay, but very clunky given it was the first m/m romance.  I think everyone knows how I feel about Zev's..... :(

No one can live up to Kaidan's romance arc.  But I'm sure as hell enjoying watching the new guys try to.....

I'm not normally great at making male characters, so I wanted the opinion of the frequenters of this thread.  I really hope you guys like him.  This is my gay warrior and the first male gay character I've made in any RPG.

Meet Auron, who will be as close to a KISA as the game will allow me:

Yeah, Sera......

I'm sorry you didn't like her. I personally don't like her much myself. So I would be upset if she was one of my two romance options.

Her voice is annoying to me, and I find it extremely difficult to understand what she is even saying. She doesn't seem to take anything seriously, and I am considering letting her go since she really doesn't fit my Inquisition. I will continue to give her a chance as of now though.

When I play him, Dorian all the way.   ;)

Yeah... Dorian is just a bit too over the top, same reason I disliked Zevran so heavily. And he's not sassy in the Alistair way, more like Zevran. Again. As for Bull, well, he is...

What I really, HEAVILY dislike is that both romances are initially all about sex. Dorian is surprised as hell when you ask about something more, and Iron Bull, actually, he is too. He's surprised, and then calls you Kadan. This is why Kaidan always wins for me. No matter his sexuality, or whatever, he's serious about a relationship. He WANTS a relationship, and it's about feelings from day one in ME1... and he wasn't written with men in mind.

Also I take offence to Bull saying what 'I need' and then refusing to believe me when I say, 'no, that's not what I need'. A good 'dom' doesn't do that, not in serious conversation. Also, there's that thing about allowing other people to top and not the Inquisitor. Had he been consistent then my tune would be different, but he wasn't.

Fenris was all right, but something was always just off about him with me. Always. Anders' was fantastic, not because of his romance content specifically, but because a romance with him added to the main plot so well, and his slow descent was made more powerful with it. It was the first time a main plot-heavy romance was available to men, as men. I loved Anders' romance truth be told.

As for Zevran. He's Zevran. You either love him or hate him.

Well, there has already been one, for females at least. Juhani in KOTOR is a lesbian and was a Jedi Guardian, the Warrior class of that game.

Juhani is only a semi-romanceable. The remainder of that story got cut. Of course you can see the rest of it using a mod, but I'm not sure how official the rest of the story actually is.

I don't really mind that Dorian started out focused on sex. As he said, he's got nothing to compare being with the Inquisitor to. Two men being in an emotionally committed relationship is completely outside his frame of reference, so I feel like it's unfair to say that he's perpetuating gay men having commitment issues. Once you tell him that's what you want, Dorian does take his relationship with the Inquisitor seriously as soon as he realizes he's allowed to take it seriously. There's a sentimental romantic under there that he tries to hide because no one has ever accepted that tendency in him before.

Anyway, I was really satisfied with Dorian. I love the fact that being arrogant and flippant is sort of a defense mechanism for him. There's a really sensitive guy under there and I like that depth in his character. He was really everything I had been hoping for. I'm not sure if he'll end up beating out Kaidan for me, but part of that is that Dorian is a much more flawed person than Kaidan is, so it's easy to place Kaidan on a pedestal.

I've yet to romance him myself, but after reading other people's descriptions of him, Bull is such a complete and utter disappointment to me. The dynamic you're forced into with him if you don't break up with him makes me literally uncomfortable. I'm glad I do like him so much because it looks like it's going to be constant replays with Dorian, just like it's been in the past with Kaidan and Anders, because I'm pretty much down to one male same-sex love interest by default and my issues with Bull make my issues with Steve and Fenris seem small.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Sera. When she was revealed, I though I'd love her. Then I saw her recruitment on Youtube the week before release and I thought she was insane and someone who would get on my nerves quickly. The truth ended up being somewhere in between. I do find her charming, but I don't know if that's enough when it comes to romancing her. For me, I feel like she's going to be in the Fenris/Merrill zone of "I like you as a character and as a friend, but you are never someone I could see as a significant other due to your personality and/or baggage."

My original plan was to romance Dorian, then Bull, then Sera, but I think I'm just going to skip Bull and Sera and do Josephine with a female Inquisitor next. As far as I know, she's still a suitable love interest, in my opinion.

Not really feeling demi, but just her being oblivious to some of the flirts
