In Exalted Plains you can find a dying woman trapped in one of the encampments overrun with undead who asks you to take her ring to her commander at Celene's base, her commander is also a woman and the way she receives the ring and her grief suggests there was a personal relationship between the two... I'm still miffed that I couldn't give the woman one of my magical healing potions and save her (or as a mage have healing magic and do the same thing), there are several soldiers in that zone I could have saved if allowed to Damn it.

Oh and do Celene and Briala count? Also you can hear from Wade and Herran through the war table after you kill a dragon.

Interesting. That woman bugged out for me, and I couldn't interact with her. She just wouldn't speak to me, even after I cleared out the place, and repopulated it with soldiers. It was kind of funny, she is still locked away despite the whole place getting reclaimed. She is alive at least.

Anyway, a question for those who have finished the Dorian romance; I refused the sex (Not only because I was raised traditionally and for some reason I thought the game would offer a 2nd chance, but also because he got close to my ear) and post game, we hugged and stood on the balcony. Great. Except, he said he'd be leaving for Tevinter and his quote at the end of the game was "I hate you, you're dreadfully boring" or something like that. It made my first playthrough end on a bit of a sour note, whether he was joking or not. Did this bug out or something, or does he always do that negative quip, or is it only if you refuse the romance scene?

There are two men outside on the balcony in the Winter Palace that is a couple. They were fighting because one of the man was talking to another man, and his partner was jealous of that.  :P  :D

I don't know where you guys are coming from but Dorian could get very b*tchy sometimes. He wasn't the typical gay femme b*tch and he didn't do it all the time, but he came across as overly defensive and catty every so often.

Don't forget about Strange Bedfellows in the Hinterlands.  That was a lesbian couple, of a scout and a mage.  The scout can be recruited as an agent for the Inquisition.  I believe the name of the scout is Ritts.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you how many catty straight guys I've met over the years.  Cattiness isn't a trait exclusive to women and gay men.  ;)

Oops yeah I forgot Ritts. Though it's not a couple so much as a hook up gone wrong but still it suggests Ritts is bi or lesbian. Scout Harding might also count as a bi NPC since she apparently flirts or accepts flirts from inquisitors of either gender? I'm less sure on this one.

Scout Harding for bisexual love interest in DA4!!

Sorry, I had to show my love.  A female dwarf companion has happened once in BioWare's history and while Sigrun was badass, that was in a pretty short expanion.  Mazzy was a halfing, which is something I had to remind a friend of mine on Twitter about.

And there has never been a dwarven LI ever.  You know I'm opposed to having any LI just for the sake of a romance arc.  Harding I think would make a fine companion to help carry the story forward.  After all, she was there at Skyhold, but wasn't given very much screentime.  Plus, she's gone over very well.  There have been several threads asking BioWare to continue her romance.   :)

Oh and did you know that she has the same VA as Liara?

No arguments, just wanted to point out that he could have been catty and straight too.   ;)

Yeah I knew it was Ali (heard it somewhere before the game came out) and I thought she was great and sounds different enough for me to separate the chars anyway. Also I think as a scout/rogue she'd make an excellent addition to any squad so yeah I'd like to see er again too.

I have trouble playing dwarves and I didn't play Awakening but I love dwarven companions (except Oghren) and NPCs... Dagna made an impression in Origins and she's so much fun even in her small amount of dialogue in Inquisition, while Harding is one of my favourite characters as well (I'd prefer her to some of the companions we have actually). I do think it would be nice to see a potential dwarven LI as well, they are due in my personal opinion as they seem the most often overlooked.

Dagna reminds me of a tinker gnome, Dragon Age style.  This is meant as a compliment.

Here's a thought: what about non-hetero male dwarven KISA?

I'm not knocking on Harding at all, I'm just trying to swing this back to being a little more on topic.   ;)

That always happens -- and from my reading of the Inquisitor's tone/expression in response it seems to be taken jokingly, particularly since he gets all cuddly. Dorian's just...kind of a little ****.

(He's also probably my favorite character in this game, ugh, what a delight.)

Directly on the topic of this thread, I would love to romance a character like Alistair or Cullen with a gay character. Handsome knights in shining armor do things to my heart and I would very much enjoy having one as a bisexual or gay LI! This is a totally awesome suggestion.

About that "I hate you and you're dreadfully boring" line- like someone said before it was supposed to be funny (Inquisitor's smile), but I still cannot understand... what did he mean by this?

Not that I have anything against all of the gay romances that Bioware have made lately, but I'm a little depressed that there were literally only 2 straight romances for male inquisitors. Now before I say anything I should note than I am actually really glad Bioware has opened up to such a large community of people and has crafted a game towards which everyone can feel comfortable and relate their characters to the way they live in their real lives. It would be nice however, if Bioware did put more straight romances for a male player. (A romance with a party member) For example, there are more romances for a gay male inquisitor than there are for a straight one. (Again I am talking about romances with party members, not including advisers.) I realize it is difficult for Bioware to incorporate everyone's requests into their games, and I greatly appreciate the fact that they at least listen to their community. If possible Bioware, please include a bit more straight romances . Cheers everyone!

Well, this isn't the thread for that.  No one in here is asking for more romances, just an archetype for a gay romance in future DA games.  Which there will be.  And I'm sorry, but the advisers have as much of the word budget dedicated to them as the companion LIs.  You're free to look that up.    Hell, by your definition, lesbians only got one romance too.  However, while there are some that don't like Sera or Josie for story reasons, I don't see them complaining about only having two romances.

No one is considered more special in the eyes of the company because they happen to fall into the the majority.  I take it you've never read David Gaider's quote?  Bolded emphasis mine:

Spoiler

They are trying to do good romances for everyone.  You got the same amount of romances as you have in any other Dragon Age game.    The writers confirmed that you are getting the same amount of content and dialogue as you get with a companion LI, minus the really tiny bits of party banter while out the field that talk about it.  Seriously, Bull talked about it twice in party banter.  That was it.

So thanks for bumping the thread, but you're in the wrong place.

id be happy if there were none. just to shut all the 600 threads up.

Su, stop clicking on romance threads then.  I know, you have to look at the titles, but maybe it's getting overwhelming for you?

You know as well as I do that there is a lot more out there, and not all of it is romance, trolling and/or angry threads.   :)

I didn't say you were.   Hopefully you've seen enough of my posts that you know that if I thought you were trolling, I'd just say as such.  As it is, you're alright and I don't consider you a troll   :)

I know, but coming into two romance oriented threads to complain about too many romance threads isn't the best way to express your frustrations.  It isn't going to stop anyone, for sure.  If anything, that might get you flamed and I don't want to see that.

For the record,  I wouldn't care if they decide to do a different game series and left the romances out all together.  I don't want them taking it out of the existing franchises though.

I'm very much in favour of a gay or bisexual male knight in shining armour with visual similarities to Alistair, Sebastian or Cullen. Ultimately that's the perfect type of romance that I'd love to explore. Neither Iron Bull or Dorian appeal to me in terms of their physical appearance. Dorian might have if it wasn't for his mustache. I prefer guys who are either clean shaven or boast a bit of stubble. No beards, please! A square jaw and classically handsome facial features would be a huge bonus.

I'll forgive the lack of appreciation for Dorian's mustache.   ;)

I love the rest of your post though.  And while I do think a beard suits Blackwall, I'm not generally into guys with a ton of facial hair either.

Ok so on topic, why not a non-hetero female dwarven KISA? Or a female qunari KISA since we're throwing around ideas, I could totally see that being an interesting story too. Or non-hetero male dwarven KISA for the boys and female qunari KISA for the girls or vice versa?

Or give me someone like Cass and/or Ser Cauthrian (spelling suspect) who is also into the ladies, that would work for me too.  ;)

Here's a thought: what about non-hetero male dwarven KISA?

Yes!  I've secretly gotten my heart set on a bisexual Legion of the Dead KISA.  I'd love to see him be torn between his vows and his love for the PC (male or female).  Have him fit the KISA stereotype and I'm all <swoon>.  I couldn't throw my money at Bioware fast enough if this happened.

About that "I hate you and you're dreadfully boring" line- like someone said before it was supposed to be funny (Inquisitor's smile), but I still cannot understand... what did he mean by this?

He was just teasing the Inquisitor.  I do stuff like that to my husband all the time.  I'll text him one day and say, "Guess what?" and when he responds, I'll say, "I love you."  Then a few days later, I"ll text him "Guess what?" again and he'll respond, expecting me to say I love you again, and I'll say, "I want a divorce."  Just being silly.  Or I'll ask him to transfer money from his personal checking account into our joint checking account because I want to buy my boyfriend something nice for Christmas. (I don't actually have a boyfriend....)

He knows that I'm not being serious.  And he does it right back at me.  It's a great thing to have in a relationship, joking silliness.  Even if it comes in a good natured way at each other expenses.  As long as everyone understands it's just a joke, it's really healthy.  Dorian is just being a jerk, but a charming jerk, nonetheless.

I'll also say that this line in particular is what moved me from "liking" Dorian's romance to "loving" it.  It was the cutest line and I thought it fit him like a glove.  What a charming ******* he is!

I'm very much in favour of a gay or bisexual male knight in shining armour with visual similarities to Alistair, Sebastian or Cullen. Like Nata, I support your entire sentiment......until you get to the facial hair part.  MORE facial hair (and chest hair) on the m/m romance options please!  We've gotten many clean shaven guys, we've only gotten one with a beard so far.  Stubble is okay, but a beard is better.

Yeah, ^ this!  100% this.  Josephine counts as a full regular romance.  Just because she's not with you in the part, doesn't take anything away from her romance.  And NPC romances "counted" back in ME 3 when it was Traynor and Cortez, as well.  In fact, when I saw people complaining that the gay romances were NPCs they were overwhelmingly told by the rest of the fans that the NPC status didn't matter because they were full romances, so........  same thing here.  Also, in the last two games everyone's had at least one of their romance options be an NPC.  Some have it better (straight gals, where it's only one out of 6 romances), some have it worse (lesbians, where it's two out of 4 romances), but we've all had it.

I understand what you are saying, and while in the games the archetype for a gay knight hasnt come into play. In the book the calling there is a gay couple of grey wardens that fit the knight archetype. and the book itself is good for the people that like gaider's stories.

I feel the same way. I was a bit disappointed when I learned that Cullen was for females only. Still, when it comes to Dorian, I just adore that guy to bits. I first hated his mustache but now I've actually grown to like it (and that comes from a girl who totally hates beards ^_^). But yeah, no full beards thank you. Stubble is okay, though. Maybe we should have an option to choose that in the beginning of a game (likely not possible, though).

Julien and Nicolas.  They were awesome.  I think Gaider did an amazing job with them.  I loved that you could totally figure out that they were a couple way before the "reveal" if you knew what to look for.  But it was a sweet (actually bittersweet) story.  I loved them.
