No worries, Vestus! I'm impressed you read it all. I was just worried for a second like, did I say that? Was I drunk?

I think that poster had some good points though about the way a softer side---or a more "feminine" side specifically linked to how they relate with men, which is the key part for me--is often used to "humanize" tough straight women. I dislike that, but I don't think the solution is to make harder straight women (they do need to change the way they do straight women though, I think), just to make awesome well rounded gay women. who are dwarves.

Really? Just now? I figured you'd already met him since you seem like a huge fan and have his pic as your avi.

I met him on my first playthrough. He's awesome.

He's the dude standing behind Lambert in Val Royeaux, right?

sandal, why? I loved you old avatar of Happiny.

On topic, it's a shame I don't get to meet Ser Barris after that one encounter in Val Royeaux. But I can't RP a character who thinks having talks with the Templars is more urgent than stopping a magister who can bend the fabric of space and time.

I needed a change, plus my new-found love of dwarves.  =)

Yeah, I hate it that siding with the Templars means walking away from Alexius. Plus, Dorian gets upset that I didn't help him. The way they presented the missions, it doesn't make sense not to do both. I wish Alexius would join in on the attack on Haven if you side with the Templars. At least that way we could kill him off.

Just don't go to Redcliffe at all, then you have no idea about the time bending magister, and Dorian isn't upset about it, haha.

I'm going to RP a pro chantry human noble for that. Someone who can't even be assed to care about the mages.

You could, but then you'd miss out on an agent for Cullen.

That's actually what I'm playing now which is why I hadn't met Barris before (let's call it a coincidence that my inquisitor looks like my bf, and I can see some resemblance between myself and the dreamy Templar)

Well, it'd be balanced out by gaining Barris as an agent for Cullen.

Sure, but small potatoes to me, shrug.

I've done both skip Redcliffe straight to Templars and go there, then ally with Templars. Both with mages (oddly I've never done a Mage run of In Hushed Whispers) both conscripting them..haha. I actually meant to ally with them the second time but
Spoiler

My elf Mage was like HECK YEAH MAGES...wait, Tevinter??? Uh, let's let the Fereldan leaders deal with this human mess, let's go get the Templars.

My Qunari Mage had no ties to the Circle and found Fiona kind of shifty....she also saw firsthand with Ser Barris that the Templars weren't a unified front against her, and her idea was to get the Templars under control first, then the mages.

Yeah, but 2 is better than 1. Besides, it's easy enough to build Dorian's approval through his war table missions so I always go for the extra agent, which compared to approval, are much rarer and harder to come by.

Whether as a Circle mage or an apostate, I found it hard to justify pursuing an attempted alliances with highly belligerent mage hunters. It would be one thing if when we see Templars at Val Royeaux they weren't openly hostile. But they are hostile. It seems far better to pursue the friendly Fionna.

And then once you meet Alexius, dealing with him seems smart. You might even suspect he was involved in the breach (which he kind of is).

You could, but then you'd miss out on an agent for Cullen.

Somehow I'll survive without that +5% to his cooldown. ;)

Ever since I made the following correlation in my head, I have found it impossible to side with the Templars in anything.

It's like one of those pictures where once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Mages > Circle Towers > Templars ---> Jews/Homosexuals > Concentration Camps > Nazis

I'm perfectly happy to consider other perspectives, though. It's definitely not something I enjoy thinking about every time the debate come up.

I've never been able to side with templars. Being judge, juror and executioner to people based on what "they might do" or on what "others have done" is something my brain can never agree with. :)

Exactly. And yet I have absolutely no compunction about forgiving (and generally adoring) all the individual Templars who are such great characters in the game. I don't know if that makes me awesome or naive.

Yeah, too bad they decided to do the "You must choose one" thing that everyone hated in DA2 but on an even bigger scale.

Oh I agree. General principle doesn't always apply to individuals :) There are templars who are great characters whom I like and appreciate.
