Personally, I blame the lamp post conversation.

Oh I blame the lamp post conversation too. Just for some other, fanfic type things.

So, this is something that I've seen tossed around in many a romance related thread. I figured I'd make a thread for it so that people who would like to see a gay knight in shining armor could consolidate their thoughts.

Regarding the archetypes of the LI's we've had up to this point, the gay knight in shining armor is one that has yet to be explored. The idea of a strong, virtuous, noble human warrior with strong morals has only been made available for opposite sex romance. (Alistair, Cullen, Blackwall, and Cassandra).  They tend to have a 'cute' and somewhat awkward quality about them concerning romance and the PC is implied to be one of (if not their only) romantic partners. It tends to make them seem more "innocent."

EDIT POST LAUNCH:  Boy, was I wrong about Blackwall. Lol.

Although Aveline isn't a LI, she is also an example of a straight character who fits the knight in shining armor archetype.

Meanwhile, characters available for same sex romance tend to be roguish characters who have a dark streak and/or questionable morals, and tend to be promiscuous. They tend to have a "bad boy/girl" or "edgy" quality to them. (Leliana, Zevran, Isabela, Anders, Fenris, Iron Bull, Sera). Note that this is not necessarily a bad thing, as grayness tends to make for interesting characters.

I would just like for things to be switched up from time to time.

So this is a thread asking for a strong, morally noble (not necessarily of noble status, but that would be good too) gay warrior. (Male and female would be great.)

Note:  Although  we know very little about the DA:I companions at this point, and it may be a bit premature to categorize them in such a way, I am making this thread now because it is a good time for suggestions to be made, since presumably the next DA game is in an early enough stage where new ideas can be put forward and possibly implemented.

I am not complaining here. I am happy with the fact that I have two guys to romance (Dorian and Bull) but I would like to see the archetypes of the LIs change up a bit in the next game.

Well, Kaidan armor isn't shiny, and he's not from DA as well  , but there you have it!

But I coulnd't agree more with you, when I first flirted Cullen I thought that maybe there was a chance, my english is bad and I wanted to translate bad the "female human and elven" wanted to think that he liked both women and men elven, what could i say, elven are beatifull that's why their babies are assesinated :o , but seriously I played all the game trying to get on his good side and nothing :( , till Leliana got my whole clan butchered and I stopped caring.

Well I coulnd't find Dorian atracttive at all, I rather Cassandra and I'm gay, and with a Qunary! like with a Krogan! besides there's the Qun stuff and scars from DA2.

So I join my voice to yours so EA made this archetype gay, I also like to see old friends back like Isabella and Aveline.

I throw my support in for a gay male KISA or a Lesbian KISA! Changing the stereotype one day at a time!  :D

Yay!  More cross-contamination between the dwarf support thread and the gay KISA thread!  I love it!  :D

Tbh, I wish everyone would be bisexual; solves that heartbreaking moment that they confess they dont like your genitals.

Then people would just say it "destroys all realism" if there's more then a couple of bisexual characters like they did after DA2 :?

Only because you're bae, lol jk (or am I). But anyway, I hope that the KISA be a  human male or female that would be one of the early people that joins your party. I love my dwarves, but with a human one, people will catch on more quicker and accepted than my beloved dwarf npc T.T.

Are you referring to the Cassandra scene?

This used to be my stance on the romances. I liked the freedom of choosing any LI I wanted, but at the same time I liked how they did it in DA:I.

I would be fine either way, but it doesn't look like they will go back to the way things were in DA2.

Having different sexualites allows for more LIs in general.

All bisexual is gone, never to return, so there's no point is discussing it. Which I say not to shut down discussion, but just to try to ward off any derails it might provoke, having seen enough of them in my day.

Yeah, that's one of the big 3.

Bisexual LIs, mages/templars, and elves.

Guaranteed warzones.

I'd actually like this. Bioware straight guys are always the nice goody two shoe guys and their bi/gay ones are always dudes with bad boy stereotypes. It'll be nice to see them reverse the personalities for once.

So it's KISA now?  You know a topic is serious when people make an acronym about it.

If that means more bad girls for my straight good guy protagonists, I'm all for it.

See, if they switched up the archetypes there would be multiple benefits. People would get something new.

New is nice.  So would a Dragon Age character similar to Kira Carsen from SWTOR.

I'd say the only big recurring trope I see with women in every Bioware games is that their is always one dark-haired snarky chicks with attitude like Bastila/Ashley/Morrigan/Miranda/Jack/Isabela/Cassandra/Vivienne and their is always one nice and calm girl like Mission/Liara/Leliana/Tali/Merrill.

I've recently met Set Barras. Yeah, I see the hype. Sadly he's not showing up at Skyhold (for the make him leader of my Templars bit). :(

He can die in the Templar mission. Maybe that's what happened?

You have to complete a series of war table quests too.

And unfortunately they're known to bug out - they did for me on my most recent run. Never got any of his missions.

I made sure to save Ser KISA. The only war table mission I've gotten had to do with apostates near Denerim. Are there meant to be other Templar missions? Does it matter that I conscripted them?

Maybe? I let them join, so I don't know if that affects anything.

Pretty sure they have to be equal partners, the way I read conscription was you in fact disband the order, therefore, ser Barris cannot lead the "Templars" as they no longer exist.

I was so pleased when they made Kaidan romancable (???) in ME3...I threw such a sulk when I couldn't romance him with my male shep in ME1 (and to me, he's the KISA type discussed here....brave hero, dedicated, good moral compass in relative terms, and has that naïve/inexperienced air to him).

Having said that, I'm still sulking that my male shep can't romance Garrus. He's my favourite if I'm honest.

So yeah, I agree with the OP! It would be great to have this KISA type as a gay character. I was frustrated that Alistair was off limits to try out with a guy....DA2 didn't bother me so much a) because I was happy enough with Anders and Fenris as really interesting characters to 'explore' and, to be honest, there aren't really many upstanding characters in that game, everyone seems murky or questionable in some way.....and then in DAI, I was immediately 'YAY! Gonna get it on with Cullen, he's got hot over the last few years! What? He's straight? That's it, I'm putting the game in the freezer....'
