I don't think any of his thoughts automatically led to "Rhaegar raped my sister" I remember him also thinking nothing but good thoughts about Rhaegar, who thinks good thoughts about their sister's rapist??

So yeah, unless GRRM tell us the whole story we have no idea what happened between Lyanna and Rhaegar after she was taken.

Ned Stark never said anything good about Rhaegar. The only thing that Ned stark remembered about the Prince Rhaegar was about the past during a tournament. Rhaegar won and decided to give the crown of flowers to Lyanna already promised to Robert Baratheon, ignoring his own wife, the Princess Elia Martell and Robert himself, in front of everyone silent, ( they stopped to laugh ) showing that The Prince already and immediately badly wanted Lyanna Stark since the first time he saw her, while not fearing to offense anyone.

But it isn't about Game of Thrones, so I'll drop the subject.

You should definitely try NWN2 and especially its Mask of the Betrayer expansion. Imho its one of the most underrated games with some of the best companions. It breaks stereotypes with some of the companions and takes many classic fantasy tropes and makes fun of them. Shame so much was cut from it as it is always the case with Obsidian.
You've got a classic noble older knight who doesn't talk much (and actually doesnt get on your nerves), a chaotic evil ranger who likes you if youre a girl but values himself above you always, a happy-go-lucky dwarf who wants to be a monk because he likes fighting with his fists, an awesomely sarcastic elf wizard with a superiority complex, a kleptomaniac tiefling girl, and an elf girl with weird stalker tendencies. And in Mask of the Betrayer you have an extremely pretty and narcissistic hagspawn, a rainbow bear, an intelligent and rather normal wizard of Thay and driven half-celestial. Basically this bunch breaks every possible character trope there is. And I find the story immensely satisfying because with Obsidian it is always some personal character problem and then the world saving one.

Don't forget Qara! Light of my life, fire of.. everything, actually. :P

Yes, I think you might like Casavir. He is mature, stoic, noble type thats quietly protective of the PC. He will do anything you ask without asking for anything in return. What I like about him is that he lacks woobiness and twilight-style problems.

Oh, I don't know about that!

Ahaha, oh I forgot about THAT! Bishop is surprisingly talkative in that conversation.

Thing is, that was done really well, and I think you agree with me. There are are few things to think about in this conversation, not just "uh, you're an angry ass and you hate mages/templars/werewolves/vampires, she shouldn't be with you". Problem is when twilight came out it sort of turned every possible love triangle into a horrible caricature with angsty teenagers, so really any love situation can now be compared to it in a not so pleasant light.

I actually preferred Sand over Quara, he was deliciously snarky, especially with that short height. But Quara was cool nonetheless. There was cut content about her having some crazy powers. Shame they did not let us keep them both.

I'm sorry I'm straying off topic, I'm just a huge fan of both Bioware and Obsidian. I can talk about their characters for hours.

Okay, so the knight in shining armor is a warrior by definition, which would translate to being of the warrior class in DA as opposed to a rogue or mage.

In DA:I, 3 out of the 4 exclusively straight LIs are warriors: Cassandra, Blackwall, Cullen.

Only 1 of the 4 LIs available for same sex romance is a warrior: Iron Bull.

Is it a subconscious thing, I wonder?  And if not, since they seem to plan companions as companions first, and LIs second, I wonder what the reasoning is behind gravitating towards straight warriors and bisexual rogues (going by all 3 DA games).

I also wonder if the audience at large has come to expect this, and how they would take it if the majority of the warrior LIs in a future game were gay, lesbian, and bisexual. Meanwhile the majority of the straight LIs were rogues and mages.

I can't really comment on the writers' thought processes... after all, coming up with interesting, believable fictional characters is no easy task.  What I will say is that I don't think that people who already support LGBT chars would find it strange if the warrior LIs were gay, lesbian, and bi, and vice versa for mages and rogues.  I think it would be a nice change of pace since there has been a very noticeable pattern across three games now...  On the other hand, maybe the writers have come up with such concepts but didn't feel confident enough about the characters to use them in game?  Or maybe they are in game but not as full party members (like Harding, for example...)?

Well, DAI has no bisexual rogues at all... in fact, the only non-adviser bisexual romance is a warrior.

True. They have bucked the class trend for rogues in this game. Hopefully they will keep it up and we'll see gay warriors and straight rogues as LIs in the future.

Meanwhile all Robert thinks of when it comes to Rhaegar is smashing his face in. Seems like he's far more salty than her own brother. Anyway, you nor I have any proof of anything, none whatsoever, so this will go nowhere and yeah it isn't a GoT thread so let's kill it.

Even though Josephine can't fight, I consider her a rogue since she relies on cunning.

lol... well, it's a bit of a stretch, but in the Elder Scrolls, non-combat builds rely on Stealth abilities like Speechcraft and Mercantile... so I figured a "Diplomat" would be a type of rogue...

Or maybe not... :/

Naah. To me rogue is more than just being cunning (anyone can be cunning).

That said Nate is still my favorite rogue

So she's a "civilian" then?  That's fine, I guess...

I dunno, their banters weren't flirty enough.I tend to think it was more - Anders crushing on Nate, Nate crushing on Velanna. A sad little chain of feelings.

The harm would be if having this character along with other gay characters to make it more diverse makes it so that they can't show other orientations. There are others besides bisexual, heterosexual, homosexual, and pansexual.

Shhh! Part of the power of asexuals is invisibility!

Seriously though. All for gay and lesbian characters but can we get an Asexual? Someone who's legit polysexual? Demi? There's a wealth of possibilities out there.

I'm waiting for a character of any class who's asexual and VERY tired of being told they're "defective" or "Just a prude".

Sten was pretty asexual, though that was probably more of a cultural thing than personal. I don't recall Velanna flirting with anyone.

And hell come to think of it, the only companion in DA2 who has never had a confirmed romance was...Varric. A strange thought, that one.

Yeah, I would like to see LIs of these orientations in the games.

Sten was cultural, since those of the Qun only have sex for procreation purposes.

Velanna gets flustered by Nathaniel's compliments.

Varric was/is in love with a dwarf named Bianca, the crossbow named after her.
