No, no, no, I don't think so. I have no knowledge about poster design (and graphic design in general) so I assume my submission has many, many flaws. I'm sure that many professionals will participate in this contest.

Very cool design.
The most impressive part to me is the consistent highlights you have done. It's a easy mistake to have the light or highlights of a image come from the wrong direction and it really bugs me when I notice it. The green highlights all having the correct direction is really nice to look at.

Well, the more I look at it the more I don't like it anymore, but here's my entry. As Kenny mentioned, inconsistent lighting is a pet bugbear of mine too, so I did my best to match up the green sky lighting to where they were in relation to the breach.

Just from the diverse, exceptional effort seen in this community thread, just imagine having to be one of the "qualified judges"! Not to mention the other countries this contest us open to!

 

     Everyone who has displayed their efforts here shows the beauty of imagination, and what being a fan is all about.. appreciation!

 

Now, honestly, how many of us really made like goodness knows how many variations?   yes, I admit when all was said and done before my final submission the file I created has 20 alternate variations to it!

 

     Being silly I figured whats the harm is displaying one more! Regardless of winning, it was a fun project and it was great that at least 5 winners will get an Inquisitors Edition of the game! so here is one final alternative (close, but not the one I actually submitted to the contest.)

 

    Everyone has done a great job and should be proud!

I had several really similar variations. Played around with the lighting and contrast of the smoke. Added in embers, changed where the companions were, in the end I was torn between the one I posted earlier and this one.

Here's an early version of my submission. I ended up creating a similar background in Photoshop, rather than using this texture, due to the "user creation only" clause.
