Ugh, so Hawke does play a singificant role? Yet Warden gets neglected and only some kind of quest without appearing even a a statue probably? Really? What did Warden do to deserve such terrible treatment? Was she/he too awesome?

The quest and explanation why the Hero of Ferelden didn't appear in the game has to be good. Really good, because otherwise this is bullshit

So what? Now let's forget the Warden, the great hero/ine who stopped the Blight, the main hero/ine who introduced us to the Dragon Age? Let's put them on the bus and never remember again?

That's just a terrible thing to do

Not to mention it makes no sense for such an important person to hide somewhere while even their LIs take their part in the conflict

Heck, we will deal with the Grey Wardens and darkspawn in the game, there are lots of reasons to include the Warden

But no, let's include that one failure of a "hero" who couldn't even save his/her own family and was nothing but an errand girl/boy unless you supported Anders from the very beginning, but... really, still not an excuse

Yeah but it's not like Hawke is appearing instead of The Warden.

The Warden stopped the Fifth Blight.
That doesn't mean she has to involve herself in every other conflict that arises on the continent.

I'd prefer she was absent altogether rather than being involved in the plot.

Hawke is already involved in the conflict whether she likes it or not.

The Warden couldn't even save their own family, so....

Depending on the origin

Not to mention that these stories were the prologues, they were supposed to throw the warden into unknown, to meet forces too strong to overcome in the beginning, but not in the end, to leave the past and start a new life as the wardens

Sibling death in the very beginning, Hawke not noticing his/her own mother went missing despite knowing there's a serial killer somewhre in the city... were just failures

The world is falling apart, they have no choice but to do at least something. Especially if their LIs are actually involved

It is. You are just being biased...

They can't make The Warden appear true to how we crafted them in Origins, but they can easily have Hawke appear.

This was already discussed.  You either do a half-assed cameo of the Warden not speaking, which would frustrate a LOT of people (myself included) or Bioware defines a persona for the Warden so that their appearance can be given some actual weight, in the process pissing off everyone who has Wardens that are different than whatever persona Bioware picks for them.  Hawke, regardless of anyone's personal feelings about him/her, is much easier to work with and stay faithful to the persona players created for them, because he/she was on the whole far less player defined than the Warden.

They aren't "ignoring" the Warden, they're choosing to avoid the risk of millions of butthurt "BUT MY WARDEN WOULDN'T DO THAT!" whining.  Seems a fair deal to me.

Well, it's not me who has a Hawke avatar picture *cough* So, mmm, I'm not the only one "biased" here

I understand there are many limitations, but many posters gave plenty of interesting ideas how to make the Warden reappear for a short episode without even speaking a line. It could be a running gag, an epic battle, a statue/monument at least

Not to mention that just because my Hawke, for example, was peaceful it doesn't mean she wouldn't shout or joke. Hawke is more than one-dimensional archetype

Actually they can because we can change Hawks appearance they don't need a default warden appearance because the default warden is dead.

Most people don't care about the warden having some big role in the game it's more the fact that Hawk get a significant role and the warden is no wear to be seen not even a cameo.

Ha! Touché! I actually had my mage warden for a time as my avatar. I like both equally.  ;)
Well to be fair, I can sympathise, but I can completely understand why The Warden would never reappear.
Yeah I agree with that but I think they can pull it off!

With good writing a speechless cameo could be a perfect cameo, well-humoured or just epic

you may not believe but not every character needs to speak to be likeable

I like, or, well, I can sympathise with poor gal, but it really frustrates me when old cool characters get put on the bus

Heck, that might be the most hated TVTrope for me personally

Avandoment issues, I guess

The Warden is too important to the world of Thedas, and to the players who have been with the series from the beginning, to have some meager cameo.  If they appear, the only way to really do it justice would be to have a significant weight.  You can't just have one of the most important people in Thedas show up just to give us a thumbs up and then ride off.  Your idea of a statue could maybe work, for Wardens that the chosen Ferelden monarch wouldn't immediately veto a statue of, but any actual physical presence by the Warden where he/she does not speak would be grossly undervaluing the weight and importance of the character.

Have you seen Soundwave from Transformers? His TFP version in the whole three season has spoken only one line. And he doesn't even has a face to express his emotions

One of the best and most loved characters of all time

Not to mention this makes even less sense... so, Warden is so important, so let's just not make them appear in the conflict? If they're important, then they have to do something

I guess if the quest connected to them mentions the Warden gathering army or killing lots of important baddies it would be good enough, but otherwise...

What the **** is with the damn Warden fanboys in the thread? Ever page someone new whines and moans about how the Warden doesn't get a worthless cameo appearance.

Get the hell over it people, the ONLY depth the Warden had as a character was in your head, and Biosare can't read of hour minds.

If you hate the Warden it's your problem

But regardless of your opinion it was the first DA series playable protagonist who introduced us to the incredible world of Thedas

Some respect is obligatory

I've never been a big Transformers guy, so that probably doesn't carry the weight you want it to for me.  Sorry.

Here's my question:  What would be the point of the most important person in Thedas showing up to high five our Inquisitor and then ride off?  Fanservice for the sake of fanservice?  Bleh.  I really believe the Warden is just too important of a character to become nothing but a piece of fanservice, and would be really, really unhappy if they devalue the character that way.

I do agree that it will be important to get some mention of what the Warden is doing, and I'm a little perplexed why people are assuming we won't get that and leaping to the "they're ignoring the Warden" view.

"Hate the Warden?" Where did I say that? I said that the Warden is imaginary. Like I've said on nearly every page of this thread.

By the way, respect is never, ever obligatory.

I believe David Gaider posted in a thread somewhere, saying that he wouldn't physically appear, but would still be important. I think 'no recognition' might be an exaggeration.
