I've never been a big Transformers guy, so that probably doesn't carry the weight you want it to for me.  Sorry.

Here's my question:  What would be the point of the most important person in Thedas showing up to high five our Inquisitor and then ride off?  Fanservice for the sake of fanservice?  Bleh.  I really believe the Warden is just too important of a character to become nothing but a piece of fanservice, and would be really, really unhappy if they devalue the character that way.

I do agree that it will be important to get some mention of what the Warden is doing, and I'm a little perplexed why people are assuming we won't get that and leaping to the "they're ignoring the Warden" view.

Well, it was just an example of a voiceless character being incredibly well-written and popular. Heck, silent characters do tend to be very popular due to being "mysterious" and "badass"

I don't mind. I understand the limitations. I just want to see them actually doing something cool. Or be told they're doing something really awesome. Heck, just a statue wouldn't be at least something

Well, it seems like they are. They don't even really mention him/her in the inteviews. Hawke gets mentioned more often

I believe David Gaider posted in a thread somewhere, saying that he wouldn't physically appear, but would still be important. I think 'no recognition' might be an exaggeration.

We'll see once the game is playable

Until then I'll stick to my scepticism

The Warden didn't have a VA. He wasn't voiceless.

Since when was the warden the most important person in Thedas?,

They are only really important if there a King or Queen but there hardly the most important at leased any more.

What the **** is with the damn Warden fanboys in the thread? Ever page someone new whines and moans about how the Warden doesn't get a worthless cameo appearance.
Get the hell over it people, the ONLY depth the Warden had as a character was in your head, and Biosare can't read of hour minds.

This so much! At this point I'm beginning to hate that The Warden even existed. For the love of all Thedas can Hawke not be hated/dissed for one page of this thread. The mere comparison between the two characters is ridiculous anyway, one was duty bound to save the world from the Blight while the other was just trying to live their life with conflicts and drama around every corner. It wasn't Hawke job to save anyone much less Kirkwall as a whole.

They're talking about Hawke more because Hawke is actually physically present in the game in a significant role, so of course he/she is going to get talked about more in interviews specifically relating to DA:I.  I'm sure the Warden would get a lot more mentions in interviews just about the world of Thedas in general.

A statue would be nice, I'll grant you that.  Maybe one in Denerim, if the Warden was the monarch's ally/friend, or something in their origin location if not.

Except...not really?  The times they have commented on the Warden, they have said that while he/she isn't appearing they'll still be important.  So what confuses me is that people seem to be either ignoring those comments, or not believing them.  That's the part I don't get.

EDIT:  Ray561, I'm pulling that idea from the proto-Inquisition searching for him/her on the basis of him/her being one of the few people that could end this conflict.  Stands to reason that someone of that magnitude is still considered one of the most important people, no?

A couple of mentions would be nice, ya know. At least them acknowledging that Wardens still exist

And we would be able to remake their appearance... mmm

I hope they'll be very important. Even if not physically present. Very important

I bet Bioware hate that the warden exists as well because no matter how much they shove hawk down out throats most will always prefer the warden.

it's a good thing is wasn''t hawks job as well because they didn't do a very good job ( as no I don't hate hawk I actually preferred them to the warden.).

They have mentioned the Warden a few times.  I'm not really sure why people are pretending they haven't, but it makes it sort of hard to discuss this.

If the statue didn't have a helmet, of course.  If they didn't want to do that, they could always have the statue have a helmet included.

They've already said the Warden is still going to be important, so it seems like you'll get your wish.

I have a feeling that they're so annoyed by DA2 haters that they're unintentionally more sympathetic to this child of theirs than DA:O

Come on man, they're fankids. They honestly think everyone hates Hawke and loves the Warden, and Bioware is keeping their precious soulless husk of a character out of the game just to pick on them.

LISTEN PEOPLE. THE REASON HAWKE WILL PLAY A LARGE PART IS NOT BECAUSE HE'S A BETTER CHARACTER, BUT BECAUSE THE EXPLICIT PURPOSE OF DA2 WAS TO SET THE SCENE FOR DAI. CALM YER ******.

I did have a little bit of sarcasm intended while writing that bioware hate the warden but they might as well have  made it mandatory that the warden did the ultimate sacrifice because they are never going to do anything important with any of the other endings of DAO so it make's them pointless imo.

Well, only if Warden actually does something to help us stop the world from ending. And of course some epic monster/demon/villain defeated by them, high dragon...

Or, to sum it up, only if they do something no less epic than the **** they do all the time. Not some data gathering or common mob enemies beaten, that even our scouts can do

Odd... I've never really got that vibe from them. Being realistic though, I don't think Hawke, or The Warden for that matter, will make much of an impact on the experience of Inquisition anyway. This is the Inquisitor's story after all.

Wow... If i wasn't on my iPhone I'd say an elaborate version of "get over yourself, chari".

The amount of mindless moaning from you is astonishing.

Ah.  See, that's where the problem comes in.  This story is about the Inquisitor, not the Warden and not Hawke.  Neither previous character is going to be doing anything greater than, or even equal to, the Inquisitor.  Doing so steals the spotlight from the protagonist of the story.

no there keeping our "precious soulless husk of a character" out because they bit off more then they can chew.

P.S I prefer Hawk over the Warden.

I'm not saying they should do something even cooler than she/he does

But heck, they did say Hawke will be of significant importance, so...

Sounds like it won't be just a simple cameo.

Significant importance /= doing something epic.

Killing powerful monsters and villains is epic by default

And all three of our PCs are pretty good at this

That doesn't mean Hawke's going to be doing much of, or any of, that in the game.
