Any thoughts on this? Do you think AI is dangerous?
Elon Musk also happens to be a fan.

dont do drugs.
A.I. being in control that quick is like giving a 5 year old keys to a Buggati Veyron.
You have to let them mature, and learn the value of life, the value of themselves, and make sure they aren't sociopaths.
An A.I. will be a person as much as us, so we have to treat it like one.
And I thought you died Shep

oh he's just talking about pentagrams, I thought he was some antichrist nutter for a second.
The military attempted to shut down Skynet when it became self-aware. Skynet then prompted to retaliate by launching all the United States' missiles at Russia. Russia in-turn retaliated. Judgement Day...
Resist the machines!
I certainly hope so...

Resist the machines!
I am the machines!

Ya. Modern computers are so good at interacting with 40 year old hardware that isn't on a network and runs on 8 inch floppies. And besides, an AI would have to have the capability to engage the 2-man in the loop hardware as well (key switches separated so that they require more than one person to have both engaged simultaneously). However, the Russians supposedly built a dead-man switch system ( wired , wikipedia ) for their arsenal but I don't think they are that crazy.

I have a different perspective on A.I. I program a lot, so I see A.I as just a bunch of algorithmns working together in a system. It is for this purpose that I fail to see A.I as more than just a bunch of systems working together.

Will it hurt when I.P?
The soulless machines will use us all as slaves. This was (probably) predicted by Nostradamus. Do you want to be a slave to this AI? I don't.

In a sense that's really all people and animals are too.
At the end of the day even our most advanced AI is just lines of code.
Just don't include a "kill all humans" function.
I've seen the Matrix. It's pretty much a done deal. Just sit back and enjoy the taste of good steak.

Definitely but the difference is, I have a proper understanding of how these systems work. In a human system I have more secrets to explore

You could have taught the Leviathans a thing or two good sir.
First somebody creates this AI, then it decides it needs to "help" us humans. So it networks everybody together removing all free will and free thoughts.
Or it decides to kill us all.
50-50 chance.
If we are talking true AI, then it's no less different from any other sentient and sapient being, a lifeform like any man, just made of silicon transistors, electricity, ones and zeros instead of meat, muscle, blood and brians. And as such it needs to grow up, learn, make mistakes and grow as a character.
Just as you can't write a string of DNA and expect to get a fully grown and educated person out of a lab vial, you can't just code a program and expect the result to be perfect.

For both better and worse humans are often not logical. People do all sorts of things that don't make sense, they contradict themselves, they take risks that don't make numerical sense. How do you replicate that? Why would you want to replicate that? Build an AI with a specialized purpose instead of trying to replicate the human brain.
Even if you were to create a true AI it must be considered different from a sentient and sapient being. It was created for a purpose, not some attempt to replicate biological life.

The difficult question is, how do we identify it is true A.I?
How do we identify the divide between weak A.I and strong A.I for such grey examples?
