I just watched Ashe's latest video, and she made a good point near the end how Inquistior is never present in the party while Hawke is in the screen, speculating that there might be a quest or mission where players can directly control Hawke as a temporary PC instead of Inquisitor.

 

In Enemy of Thedas trailer, we've seen Inquisitor, Hawke and other grey warden facing Blinky together. So I'm sure at some point of the game they will eventually meet in face to face.. But here's my take. What if it's something like DA:O's famous 'Captured!' quest? Inqusitior is trapped inside the fade alone (remember the scene in EOT trailer where inquistior was bascially falling down to fade alone?) so our companions AND Hawke temporarily joins the party to rescue him/her, allowing players to play as Hawke (Damn, perhaps even some dialogue options for Hawke too!).

 

I know this is just a speculation and there is high chance that it won't happen. However we already know that DA2's expansion pack's contents were scrapped but some of them made it into DA:I and this could be one of them.

 

I know DA:I is Inquisitor's story and probably lot of people would not be happy with this notion if it were true, but personally I'm very excited for this possibility. 

 

What do you guys think?

I hope Ashe is okay with this thread. I'm basically posting her idea so if anyone gets credit for this speculation it's her.

I think Ashe is looking a little too hard into the video. Just because we can't see the Inquisitor in the trailer, doesn't necessarily mean  that he/she isn't there. However It would be great if Hawke is a secret companion a la Logain was in Origins.

That would certainly be interesting, but I'm not sure if I want my Hawke to be a companion, simply because my Hawke is, well mine, and not really suited to being an NPC...

Really? I like Hawke.

I think what he/she meant was that they're disappointed that the Warden isn't in the game.

In the Enemy of Thedas trailer when Hawke and that Warden run up to blinky you can see the Inquisitor in front of them. So no I don't think we will temporarily play as Hawke.

Well they did say some of the Exalted March was incorporated into DA:I, it's not like this was unexpected.

same happened with ME3 Citadel ... and till it´s in game already, at least I am fine with that, but when they will start to tear apart core narrative for DLCs, I´ll be really pain in the ass kind of poster as back in the ME3 backlash.

Walters said in one interview that they had to leave some of the ideas for ME2, but they re-open them in ME3, and from DLC perspective there were 2 DLCs  from which one or maybe even both of them could be those abadone plans, either it was Citadel or Omega. 

And for core narrative perspective, I found pretty offensive both From Ashes and Leviathan DLCs.

From Ashes and Leviathan did seem odd choices to exclude. I'm pretty sure Citadel wasn't an abandoned plan though. It was very tongue-in-cheek, a nice goodbye to all the Mass Effect fans. Never played Omega.

It was more about story of that DLC, the party stuff was just a damage control and fanservice, but overall whole clone and citadel infiltration stuff felt odd.

I think perhaps that is speculating far too much, I doubt we will play as Hawke, though if there are interactions with Hawke (and less likely the Warden) I wouldn't mind having the option to answer for them, as odd as that may turn out to be.
