In the Skyhold stream at 6:53, you see Cullen and Dori playing some sort of chess game.

So, my question is... Are we getting board games, we can play with our companions? OR. Is it just this one cutscene? We should get some. PLEASE. Bioware, give us some ingame board games. Perhaps the dice game, Liar's Dice, renamed Bandit Dice. Loved playing this in Red Dead Redemption. I also loved checkers from Assassin's Creed 4. Just to give some more life to Skyhold.

Yo, I'm not terribly concerned about in-game board games, but I would play the **** out of Dragon Age Monopoly. Or, like... Fade Candyland?

Awwwyeeah.

I suppose it's not everyone's thing. But still, thanks for the post ^_^.

Haha, this would be pretty fun. I remember Final Fantasy 8's card game and I became a bit addicted to that. Such would be fun.

I don't believe we'll get to actually play minigames/etc. The scene you mentioned from the stream only allowed the Inquisitor to choose whether to play fair or cheat, and that was it.

I would love some mini-games in Skyhold, but I doubt the devs thought of this... :/

There was a card game in the Dinotopia video game (don't judge me >C I was a kid!) that I really enjoyed. And the card game in FF9 was a fave minigame of mine.

It would be a shame if we can't. At least 3 of our 12 followers(Cole, Cullen, Dorian) play chess.

Maybe it's time to actually introduce Diamondback and Wicked Grace that we can play against Varric? In DA2 all Hawke's companions plays that with each other except Hawke...

Well I agree that games like chess to be able to play would be nice to have at Skyhold and it would be even better if we could randomly play whenever we want with other companions. There has to be more to Skyhold than just wandering around or talking to companions. I mean that place is enormous and we need activties for entertainment.

I like the idea of minigames too. I'm not very good at chess, but I like it. And I would love horse racing. It would look kind of funny though if your companions had horses, but your mount had antlers! :)

I'm somehow foreseeing the blackjack/quasar/pazaak/DAname dlc. Tbh, I was kind of expecting it for SWToR, or swoop races, man, I would have loved swoop races with all the mounts we got, but hey, we got space combat.... Andraste's ******, all the boardgames I've played in videogames are coming to mind. Man, Lego Chess, my very first videogame...I think I'll go have a nostalgia trip now.

I haven't even once played any of side mini-games in any RPG or hack'n'slash games. Dice, chess, bones, or whatever - it can increase immersion but doesn't hold a value on it's own. Time spend on such things could be invested to polish the game, add some additional, actual value to the universe, level design, etc.

Please, don't waste precious time on those little, imo redundant things and activities.

I can only tolerate ingame games, if they are not linked to plot or help you in game if you are successful.

FF8 card game was not linked to the plot, playing FF9's card game was required to get certain items.

There is also the issue of game world vs player ability.

My Inquisitor could be a master tactician & have the right perks & skills to back this up, but I as a player could suck at Dragon Age Chess, leading to the sense that you as a player are letting your character down.

I had the same feeling in FFX, with Blitzball, you've no idea the amount of times I had to play Wakka's last game just to make sure he'd win.

I'd rather play games I'm already familiar with or have obvious objectives, if they are going to be in at all.

I dislike brand new invented games with complex rules (for example, I disliked the card game in FO: New Vegas). It's fun to have a nice diversion, but I don't want to spend too much time learning it. I want to play the MAIN game, and maybe occassionally jump into a mini-game.

I thought I wouldn't like unfamiliar mini-games either but then I found I really enjoyed Caravan from Fallout:NV so I wouldn't mind a brand new mini-game in Inquisition.

I was not a fan of Caravan, but then it didn't matter in Fallout: NV cos it was an option distraction. In DA:I the game appears in a scene with a companion, so there is no option about playing it.
