So in the latest twitch stream (minor spoilers ahead if you haven't watched it)...

... it was revealed that Qunari ships have landed on the northern coast of Ferelden.  Why are they here?  What are they after?  Have they come in peace, or are they one more foe for the Inquisition to contend with?  Is the new Arishok (a.k.a. Sten from Origins) here with them?

I'm interested in people's speculation!

People have worked out that those Qunari ships are probably where you meet Iron Bull. It looks like the same location we saw in the Followers trailer.

The Fade Tear concerns everyone. They've come to help...granted what they see as help will see as them cleaning the land of Serabas.

Qunari and coming in Peace.... two of the most unlikely things to happen ever.

They are conquerors first and foremost. They come with war, and stay in peace (sorta)

I could see them being the Iron Bull's ships, but I can also see them as being Quari coming to do something about the Fade Rifts. That doesn't necessarily mean they've come to help, though. They might be seeing this as an opportunity to really start their conquest of Thedas.

Think about it- all the nations are freaking out about the tears in the Veil. The Qunari, who hate magic and mages in general, and think everyone is stupid for tolerating them, use the chaos to their advantage. The nations of Thedas use all their resources and energy to close the tears in the Veil, and the Qunari, who have been patiently waiting, move in for the kill. Coming to Ferelden was probably just their first scouting attempt.

This, also someone actually found him in the gameplay and you can see him fighting off in the distance at the beginning.

Except that the Bull's backstory on the official site pegs him as hanging out somewhere in Orlais, no?  Running his mercenary company and enjoying the perks of not living under the Qun?

Edit: And here's the quote: "To preserve a valuable asset, his superiors sent him to Orlais to observe and report… and The Iron Bull was born."

To be fair, it doesn't definitively establish that we meet him there, just that he's been there.

That depends, Luvy.  At least for my first Inquisitor. He might end up killing Bull (if possible) depending on how big a spy he is and how things pan out.

My Dwarf Inquisitor will love him, though.

Frankly I think the Qunari coming to Ferelden is just a prelude to the next  game, where the Qunari goes to war against Thedas. They've been hinting at a coming war since Origins.

Hm.  Compelling, but not definitive in my opinion.  It might be him, but it might not be.

I'm pretty sure Bull will be the only Qunari in the game with horns like that.  That has to be him.

Fine, fine!  I'll admit it's most likely him.  I guess I was just letting my hopes of seeing Sten again get the better of me.

If Leliana is Liara, and Shale is HK-47, Sten is basically the Wrex of Dragon Age.

I am quite interested in finding out the role that the Qunari play or impact that the Qunari will have in DAI.  I have my personal speculations, but will keep them concealed, for now.

If Lelianna is Liara then Sten is Javik since Lelianna and Liara both annoyed Sten and Javik. Sten also likes to troll people and make sarcastic remarks.

And the Business with The Elder One and the Mage Templar ordeal was the Straw that broke the camel's back for the Qunari?

I can't imagine my Queen being very happy with Qunari landing on her shores unannounced, even if its Sten. Then again, our navy probably isn't very good, is it?

Less of a "straw that broke the camel's back" and more of an extremely opportune time to strike ... right during/after a devastating crisis that's left the human nations weaker than ever.

Sten and Wrex are both elite warriors from very martial cultures who are in some sort of exile when we meet them in the first game.  They are both stoic and prefer violent solutions to problems.  They both challenge the protagonist's decisions as leader at some point in the game (Virmire, Haven).  After adventuring with the protagonist, they each then return to their own people and gain the position of ultimate-badass-in-chief.

All that's left for Sten to complete the arc is a triumphant return in the third game as the vanguard leading his people to new and greater heights.

Hmmm...I always felt that Oghren was more like Wrex.

That's gonna be a fun World state to make if their is an option to side with or against the Qunari. And by fun I mean stressful for the devs.

Check the flag on the ships. Looks like Bull's Chargers.
