The three space magic colours are more or less in the new Civilization. When you play that game, you can choose between three 'ideologoies':

- Purity (red colour, pro-human race)

- Harmony (green-ish, love between humans and aliens)

- Supremacy (yellow, but use robotic implant stuff to control the universe)

So Bioware made a new sci fi standard with the three colour thing.

Don't buy Civ: BE by the way, at least not for this price. It's the most boring space exploration/colonization experience you'll ever have. Every planet has the same resources, aliens, etc.

Does this prove indoctrination theory?

To be fair, this three ways of seeing the future dates back a long while. So they certainly didn't create the concept, but they did create a strong image of it in people's head. When I see stuff like it I always think of ME3 too.

I swear my entire friends list disagrees with you, it's all I see people playing now.

Ha, I'll try again. I'm a big fan of strategy games (especially the Paradox ones) but I'm still in the 'this is just a mod for Civ 5' phase. I read in the reviews the revelation of awesomeness comes after you've tried and failed a few times.

Forgive me when I press this into offtopic, but how is this game compared to CIV and CiV? I absolutely loved CIV and played it religiously, but CiV turned out to be a disappointment of a proportional scale (meaning I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole if I can avoid it).

Couldn't say myself, I'm not into the 4X genre at all. Just the rest of my friends list is. Though most I know loved V and were super pumped for Beyond Earth.

Shame that. I'm trying to find comparative user reviews to see if I can take a closer look at Civ:BE. Because if it's anything like CiV turned out to be, then it's no sell.

But thanks for answering anyway.

I loved Civ 4. Played it all the time. Civ 5 not so much, because it felt less adventurous. Civ: BE is very similar to Civ 5. Same engine, samy buildings, same resources, same barbarians, but they have all been made 'spacey'. It really feels like a mod for Civ 5. I have played one entire game now and don't feel like playing another one.

Have you tried Crusader Kings 2? If you like strategy, that's the best game ever. Also if you like watching Borgias, Tudors or even GoT you will love it.

I have been thinking about getting Beyond Earth, but I just recently discovered the Long War Total Overhaul Mod for XCOM: Enemy Within and have become hopelessly addicted  :D.

I really hope that Firaxis makes an XCOM sequel soon; that is the best turn based tactical strategy game (.IMO)

CIV BE is using these colors pretty great. ME3 on the other hand...

Not a strong image, but a bad image.

I still remember how people ridiculed ME3's red, green, blue endings. ME3 endings (and other elements too) were done so poorly to the point that someone came up with a whole indoctrination theory to satisfy their disappointment.

You know there's something wrong with the game when the players are the ones having to feel in the void and patch up the story.
