The three space magic colours are more or less in the new Civilization. When you play that game, you can choose between three 'ideologoies':

- Purity (red colour, pro-human race)

- Harmony (green-ish, love between humans and aliens)

- Supremacy (yellow, but use robotic implant stuff to control the universe)

So Bioware made a new sci fi standard with the three colour thing.

Don't buy Civ: BE by the way, at least not for this price. It's the most boring space exploration/colonization experience you'll ever have. Every planet has the same resources, aliens, etc.

I swear my entire friends list disagrees with you, it's all I see people playing now.

Forgive me when I press this into offtopic, but how is this game compared to CIV and CiV? I absolutely loved CIV and played it religiously, but CiV turned out to be a disappointment of a proportional scale (meaning I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole if I can avoid it).

Couldn't say myself, I'm not into the 4X genre at all. Just the rest of my friends list is. Though most I know loved V and were super pumped for Beyond Earth.
