Sooooo I have seen footage of rage demons, terror demons and pride demons...but has anyone seen or heard if desire demons will actually be in DAI? I hope so, they rock!

Don't see why they wouldn't. They're one of the more powerful types I believe.

Yeah from what I know Pride are the most dangerous, then Desire.....then the others which I forget, lol. I just wanna see a DAI version of a Desire demon

I just want to see a Hunger Demon that actually has a unique model and isn't just a Shade.

 

I'd assume Desire Demons will be back. They also have new demon types like Terror, Fear (mage-looking one with weird spider legs coming out of its back), and Envy (according to the wiki the weird pink Silent Hill thing in the trailer is one of these).

 

There's also Blinky, who i assume is some kind of a Greater Terror or Fear demon.

There was a pic of some very early concept art behind the head of two  Canadian politicians who visited the Edmonton studio in this pic.  That was more than a year and a half ago, so who knows if they're still in...?

 

I got pretty sick of them myself.  The lore-concept was cool but the model they created was just a little ridiculous.

Ahh nice find, thanks. They were my favourite enemies in previous games, I liked that there is often a deal to be made with one. I am assuming they will get a nice model upgrade if they are in DAI lol

They probably aren't in the trailers, because they want the trailers to be able to air in prime time. There is nudity in the game (per ESRB standards), so I'd assume that the Desire Demons are falling into that category.

For now yes. The top three strong demons are Pride > Desire > Sloth.

 

However the top three strong spirits are Hope > Faith > Justice .

 

Spirits of faith are direct opposition of pride (to believe in something other than yourself is opposite of pride) so they are equal in power, a corrupted faith becomes pride. However Hope is stronger than faith and by default its stronger than Pride as well. Its corruption would be despair and despair demons would be the strongest. Its a theory anyway

Considering that we have only seen these three spirits so far (in-game, at least), I think it's pretty audacious to start ordering them by order of power... I would further argue that just like you can have normal, lieutenant, and boss rank versions of each demon, the same would apply to spirits as well; also, if we start with this, we'll just end up at "it all depends" (on the individual spirit/demon).

Anyway, I do think that suddenly making desire demons disappear would do DA a disservice. I always find them the most interesting, the most devious, and also the most dangerous demons, whatever their personal combat ratings may be. Sloth, pride, vengeance... bleh, all simplistic. Desires... now there we are talking

The spirit hierarchy is canon, just like the demon one. Also as you said some of them can become stronger than their stature.

You are not losing much, all I was saying is there is a high chance these new demons could be weaker than pride.

I'd be willing to bet the Ash Wraith concept was originally for the Hunger Demon.

 

 

Their entire body is a gaping mouth and the face and arms emaciated as if by famine. They might actually be Hunger Demons in canon too, as the ritual to create them includes a fast in addition to the self-immolation.'

problem is that desire demons are often used in cut scenes since they are normally seen striking deals or attempting to do so with your character and showing that would be spoilers something that bioware is trying to keep to a minimum. Well this is my view on it and desire demons are one of my favourite demon types next to wonderful pride.

The way they are described, it does read like they are listed in ascending order, with the exception of Compassion.

Personally I didn't read that part of WOT per say, the wiki says that and as source it points to vol. 1, p. 168.

 

"There are five known types of benevolent spirits: Compassion, Valor, Justice, Faith and Hope, which range in power from the relatively weak spirits of compassion to the strongest spirits of faith and hope".[6]

 

Compassion is weakest, Hope is strongest, according to this anyway. The [6] says its from the said WOT page.

Yes well, the closest WoT actually gets to saying that is: Spirits of Hope are among the strongest, and that is the only hint at any ranking. There's no definite hierarchy anywhere.

I read somewhere that the hirearchy of demons is not based on their true power but on what is the most dangerous for the templars to deal with and fight. So perhaps their ultimatly is no hirarachy?
