Hullo everyone!

I don't know whether similar subject had already been discussed or not in other thread, I'm curious on whether there will be unromanced companions in DA:I romancing each other between themselves ;)

In DA2 for comparison, Isabella and Fenris will have relationship if both are unromanced by Hawkes. Bethany will get all blushy about Sebastian and Carver will be quite sweet in front of Merrill. In Darkspawn Chronicle it's indicated that Alistair might have something going on with Leliana (Warden dead at Joining).

IMO, it's quite possible to have these:

- Cullen + Cassandra: they have same beliefs, they seems to respect each other very much (if not Cass won't bring Cullen to the Inquisition)

- Ironbull + Dorian: just possible no? Dorian rides the bull! ;)

- Cassandra + Blackwall

What do you think? :D

My bets are:

1. Dorian and Iron Bull may have a fling but I doubt it will be more than that due to their backgrounds and possible future lans

2. Cassandra and Iron Bull might be an interesting little flirt, mostly on his side

3. Vivienne and Solas, for some reason I can just imagine how hilariously awesome this pair will be

This is the best reason to have it happen. In future I hope BioWare removes all player romances and just has the companions start things with each other, simply to mess with people. (I'm evil.)

In all seriousness, I really hope un-romanced companions hook up with each other. It was one of the things in DA2 which really made the people seem more real (that and all the stuff the banter made it clear they were doing off-camera, like Aveline's party that isabela didn't go to and Fenris playing cards with Donnic).

I can't see Cass hooking up with Cullen. Most of there similarities are most surface stuff i.e. Straight, Human, Templar/Seeker, Religious

None of these are reason people end up together.

I think Cullens inability to see Mages as anything other than WMDs with hurt feelings would put Cass off him romantically.

Or maybe I personally don't think he's good enough for her :P

I hope:

Iron Bull/Dorian
Josephine/Vivienne
Sera/Harding
Cass/Blackwall

And I'd also love to see Cass and Varric have an awkward hook up one night whilst drunk.

Hahaha drunk one night stands would be hilarious.

Other than that, Josephine and Sera, or Josephine and Cullen.

Also Dorian pining for Cullen would be nice. I hope there are one sided crushs, like Carver and Merrill.

Dorian and Sera, just to laugh at us, the gamer.

Edit: At some point in the future, I would actually like it if various companions tried to initiate a romance with us, the player, instead of us starting it.

That means one sided on Dorian's side since Cullen's straight! Anyway even on that gameplay skyhold video, I can imagine Dorian and Cullen sassing each other  :bandit:

I've seen people hooked up together starting with "surface stuff" actually. It's quite often to see how these things started discussions. Then it goes deeper to other areas. Well, it remains to be seen, surface stuffs alone won't hold the relationship together if it's only up to that  :)

I've seen it at both DA:O and DA2. I've never start the first flirt with all four romance options on DA:O, on every play through it's them who started it. I avoided all flirt with Alistair to actually get Leliana, and at one point (when you have enough friendship points with him) he'll automatically give my female warden a rose.

Same with Anders start flirting first on my Hawkes, and even Fenris (in a more subtle way). Even then, Merrill did forced herself into my Hawke (already romancing someone else) even if I never ever flirt once with her the entire game.

Had there been any confirmation on DA:I that it's up to the player to start the first move?

I could see Iron Bull finding Cole cute but not making any moves. Sera would definitely try and get under Josephine's clothes, considering how innocent she seems.

Cullen and Vivienne. They seem to have similar views on magic, act very serious/regal, and are simply a rather compatible pair in my eyes.

The way BioWare described it at the GaymerX2 panel, the player has to hit a flag through dialogue that says you "like me" and then more flags generate where you have to hit them and then you get to the "like me like me" stage and then romance starts. I wasn't aware that it has actually happened in previous games.

I can see:

Iron Bull and Dorian BUT... I don't see it going anywhere significant. I don't see either of them wanting something serious; if either of them romance the Inquisitor, it's probably going to be a surprise to both of them that they've actually fallen in love.

Sera and Josephine. Opposites attract. Sera is a wandering waif, and Josephine is a cultured noblewoman. They'd either blow up into chaos, or turn into a completely lovey-dovey mush-fest.

I don't see Cullen, Cassandra, Blackwall, or Solas engaging in anything outside of the Inquisitor. I could be wrong, but all four of them seem like they're too business-y to think of that sort of thing unless the Inquisitor flirts with them.

Although, it would by hysterical to see Cassandra and Varric evolve into something. That, I would like. Although it would irritate me that Cassandra could get some Varric lovin- and my Inquisitor couldn't.

I personally prefered the way it was done in DAO, there were several ways to start the romance, without feeling that you're forced into making the first move.

I'm not a big fan of the heart of DA2 to be honest, which seems to be back in Inquisition unfortunately. It feels too much like a "clic here to fall in love". If I want to play a shy or non flirty character, it's really not ideal. And I like the idea of the LI making a move, trying to test the water and such.

I still hope they managed to tweak the system to make the romance feels more natural.

Um, both Anders and Fenris (can?) make the first move. Isabela might too, but I'm unsure. I think the only one who doesn't is Merrill.

Maybe it's simply because some lines in DA:O that didn't seems like flirts to me is actually flagged as romance starting? I was pretty sure that of all my 3 playthrough as female wardens from 3 different origins (mage, dalish, human noble) Alistair did start to give my wardens the flower and then my other romanced LI start complaining about my warden's relationship. I'm very sure to not choosing obvious flirt lines with him though...

And Anders did hit on my male Hawke on DA2 first. Apparently I must choose the "heartbreak" icon to stop the romanced flag continue. When I tried to be diplomatic, the game considered that the romance started.

Or maybe it's simply me who's not really understand what's a flirt is :)

If you give Isabela the time of day even once in Act 1, she'll proposition Hawke in Act 2.

You just have to play DA2 Legacy DLC to know that. She sound x2 more pissed than usual when she says Grey Wardens. I wonder what's the story behind that.

Going back to the topic, going by all the Cass&Bull have an awesome dynamic, see eye to eye and make an awesome team from the dev (and FPjr), they are probably our mostly likely candidates right now.

Whatever does happen if there is NPC romances I cant wait to see the forums.

Especially after Darkspawn Chronicles, Kaidan Doctor Date, and the Isabela X Fenris thing happened.

"NO MY FAVE LI MUST REMAIN PURE AND IN LOVE WITH ME EVEN IF I DONT ROMANCE THEM! ESPECIALLY THEN!"

tumblr_ljh0puClWT1qfkt17.gif

If it does happen this is going to be me when I find out and head back onto the forums.

I can see Cullen and Josephine in a platonic flirt-based 'romance' (similar to how Sten and Shale and Morrigan/Sten were). Cullen would get extremely shy and awkward, refusing to admit he likes Josephine while she would toy with him time to time to see him squirm. It would actually be quite cute.

I don't know Harding's orientation, but if she prefers gentlemen it'd be curious to see her and Varric have playful banter, possibly an arc where the Inquisitor plays matchmaker between the two. If she prefers women it'd be interesting to see her and Sera act as a pair. Sera would probably be the swooning admirer while Harding finds Sera amusing at first but then takes her seriously over time.

I can also see Cullen and Vivienne since Vivi is pro-Circle.

Sera and an unromanced by Warden Leliana would also fit well, considering Leliana is pretty liberal and would probably agree with (or admire) Sera's ideals, reminding her of when she was younger.

I liked this approach as well, but too many people threw a ****fit over it in DA2 with Anders, because apparently it's uncomfortable for companions to voice their opinions or feelings for us and only we should be able to do it, not to mention how dare they be upset when turned down? :P

So far I like the idea of Dorian/Bull, as well as Josephine/Leliana (though that's unlikely to happen as advisors and with Leliana being previously romancable, but you never know... could be something for an import with an unromanced Leliana).
