I lost 50 pounds (~23 kg) since April for Inquisition.

(Actually, that was for my general health and happiness. However, I used, "You cannot play Inquisition at all until you hit your goal weight of ____." as my motivation to keep on track. Apparently, it worked quite well. ;P)

Now I need to find a new biggie motivator to help me lose the remaining 35. Damn, going to be tough...

I just recently upgraded my graphics card to a GTX 970, fueled by my desire to play inquisition on ultra. I also requested launch day off so i can stay home playing it. Funny story about that, so im in the managers office giving my current boss the paper work so i could have the day off and my old boss walks into the office ( i worked for my old boss for 5 years and requested more than a few days off for games) and looks at me and laughs and says 'Which game is coming out?"

Thanks. :D I figured Inquisition would be the best motivator, better than food-based rewards. Looks like it was a good assumption.

I also got a new graphics card last year, specifically for Inquisition once I heard it was delayed a year and running on Frostbite 3. Mind, it didn't cost me anything as I got it for Christmas, but I would've bought it regardless. I've also already made space on my desktop for Inquisition's icon. Not a great length, I suppose, but certainly a reflection of my eagerness. I'm also taking a week off of work, but seeing as I technically work for myself... That's not saying much.

I finally bought a gaming PC - had my local computer guru build it for me and happily I will be able to run the game on recommended with room to spare.

I have over 500 hours of vaction time on the books so with a heavy sigh I am taking a full two weeks vacation so that I can play one play through uninterrupted by mundane responsibilities ( kiddies are all grown and gamers -no SO to complain). The weekend prior the boys and I have a cleaning and cooking party planned they could only take launch day off but will be playing every hour they aren't at work or in school.  So planning will be key.   My poor dogs are going to feel like we have disowned them.  I think I need to get some Volkswagen sized rawhides for them lol.

Happy to hear you got a new build! Sounds like you've got a solid plan so I'm sure you'll be golden. Now if only you remember to take the dogs out... accident's on carpets are never sexy in the club. :D

DA-I was the excuse to get a PS4 (really a delayed birthday present - so not sure that counts) and upgrade my PC (i.e a new one).

The ultimate sacrifice.

I will be delaying DAI til Christmas break for two reasons:

1) I have a lot of commitments so I can't spend a lot of time on DAI. Knowing myself, I'll make time at the expense of said commitments for a game as good as DAI. I'm insulating myself from myself :P

2) I'm buying a new Origin PC laptop that will be able to run the game at max settings easily.

I may be super hyped about DAI but I am willing to wait another month.

RIP.

Oh man... how will you stay away from the forums and not get spoiled in that time? :( Another month would kill me atleast, I commend you on your willpower.

I asked for a week off of work back in June and then had to change it to the November release date when they switched, lol. Other than that, I bought a new keyboard and mouse and intend to doa ritual deep cleaning of my house before I play so I wont have anything else immediate to think/worry about and just play the game. Im weird like that, need clean spaces, lol.

Can't be that bad. I delayed ME3 for a year, only to play it and discover I dodged a bullet by playing after the EC was made as well as all possible DLC. I ended up with a happier experience than most.

Silver linings I guess.

Well I just figured out how to get a wired connection to my ps4 in a very unconventional way, using a device I already own. Had no idea I could do this I swear. Lol but it's awesome.

You are not allowed to romance your preferred love interest until you shed the pounds. Treat is as you building a better body worthy of their love.

Ha, I appreciate the suggestion. However, specific items (a single game, comic, etc) seem to work best for me; if I restricted a specific aspect of Inquisition itself, it'd defeat the purpose of the incentive of the game for me, as it's all one full package - either I do everything I want in it, or I can't play the game at all. I need a new goal outside of Inquisition. Perhaps a DLC maybe, depending on how soon they come out.

I have mini goals every 5 pounds where I'm allowed to buy a single volume of Fables or Saga, which is helping for the smaller landmarks to keep me enthused in the short run. In fact, I'll be able to buy my next volume of Fables tomorrow. :)

Funny post.  The lengths I'm going through to play DA:I.

I pre-ordered and I'll be picking it up on day of release.  I'm willing to skip dessert after dinner to go pick this up at the store.  Then again, I'm not someone who eats dessert hardly ever.  In the spirit of sacrifice, I'm willing.

Are you prepared for the feast of a thousand desserts!

Well, I was going to go to a wedding that weekend, but since it would conflict with the release I've now refused to attend (it's my boyfriend's cousin, so at worst I've only annoyed his parents).  We were going to get a relative to install a stair rail thanksgiving week because I fell down the stairs and hurt myself a few months back, but I now refuse to do that as well.  I refuse to do any thanksgiving related activities aside from a single dinner, and everyone I know has been forewarned that they shouldnt expect to hear from me much until new year's.

My computer was totally capable of playing it, but I found myself compelled to update it with the newest shinies all the same.   Oh, and I also hooked up a controller so I could switch back and forth and play for longer at a time without injuring my wrists.  And I got an exercise bike so I could play for weeks on end without turning into a blob.  I am currently in the process of making my house spotless, taking care of doctor appointments, spending time with loved ones, and generally acting like I am going away forever.

A lot of this may turn out to be unnecessary, but I like to be prepared.  ;)

Fortunately, I'm not having to take any great lengths to play it. I currently have plenty of free time, plus Thanksgiving break is two weeks after launch and then the week after that is finals week. Um... I may not go to class on the 18th... so that's something. I didn't even have to use money (sort of) to buy the game. I was able to completely pay off the Deluxe edition from games I traded in that I never played. I've never been a PC gamer so I didn't have to upgrade anything and I already had bought an Xbox One last year while I was working. So yeah... I've just had to sit back, do some school work here and there, and watch DA:I twitch streams as I await the the day I have access to the EA Early Access of the game. Yay me!

None.  Am not planning to buy at release and did not pre-order anyway.  For various well trod reasons DA:I is a wait-and-see title for me, as are all Bioware efforts since DA2/ME3.

Not much apart from buying a new computer (i7 4790K, GTX980, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD) but that was bound to happen sooner or later anyhow seeing as my old one was reaching 4 years old. I considered taking vacation time for Nov 21st and Nov 24th but seeing as I have a wife and a 30 months old daughter those two days wont make a lot of difference anyway. If Bioware's estimation of a 150 hour completion time for a completist playthrough are correct I estimate that I wont have finished DAI until sometime around the beginning of March next year,

Well...I bought a PS4....and since I was recently let go from my previous job due to management politics I guess I'll have free time unless I can get hired somewhere.

Either way, I'm going to be sitting and staring at my tv in preparation for the download....

Maybe I'm just bad at things, but if you're running 1920x1080 gtx 970 is overkill in ultra.  I mean, I have a very outdated graphics card and it runs BF4 in mostly ultra.  I admit I'm going to upgrade my graphics card to up the frame rates for DAI, so I guess I'm not one to talk :D.
