Bingo.   No one 'complains' about getting the game a day earlier than expected.   Well, at least not about the game itself.   Apparently, though if you don't acknowledge every single country directly people take offense anymore.

In Europe, the 'official' release date is the 21st meaning that is the date you can expected to have it by if you live ANYWHERE in Europe.   If your 'specific' country gets it a day or two earlier, then you should be happy, yes?

So forgive all the complex legalities that exist for why individual countries have to have their own separate systems.

Release date are different due to how music/game charts are a done and they like to release new games/music so they get a full week of sales so they can compile the charts better, that is about the only reason why they differ.

That said some game do get a global release date and that is normally only on massively over hyped games very few are granted this and its down to regional retails agreeing to the date.

Of course we are glad that we get it sooner and that we are even mentioned like that. But that's not the point here.

A release date (at least here) means the date something gets released, not the date something is available. You wouldn't say that the game will be released the 21st worldwide either, would you? The statement is simply wrong (let's use another example, the USA gets it the 18th, oh wait, that means only the state of New York) and leads to a lot of confusion (even shops got it wrong here and there).

Now, I'm not no fancy academic geographer, but that there then seems like some mighty fine geographical accuracy.

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are referred to as seperate countries, which collectively form the sovereign state known as the UK, but if you wish to include the 4 of those in the definition of country based on it being a sovereign state then you also need to include the fourteen British Overseas Territories that are also part of the sovereign state.

As for your second point, i'm aware of what we speak here in Ireland, and since the late 19th century english has been the predominant first language. Therefore we are an English speaking country.

Your last point is fair enough, given that you have clarified what you meant in your OP.

The Overseas Territories and islands (Channels Islands, for example) are not classed as part of the UK, at least not in a constitutional sense.

The bottom line is that this is a stupid and outdated way of releasing games.  EA/Bioware should make them available to EVERYONE on the same day.  Then, if the shops are arsing us about, we know to complain to them instead!

And if the Screenshot from someones™ Origin Account flying somewhere around in the DA:I Forum, is not Faked / Photoshopped, then Canada can already Preload the Game on November 14 and Play on November 17.

Yeah its dumb that we have to wait to play that Game around a Week after we have Preloaded it. Totally nonsense with Digital Products. I am sure, latest 48 Hours after the Preload starts, there will be some "Cookies" flying around. So we, who will have the Game legally, have to wait while others are able to play.

No, I am not complaining. Just saying that this is a idiotic Decision left from the last Century. It does not make sense these Days - even for Physical Products. As DVD's / BluRay's are produced and distributed locally depending on the Region, by different Companies.

A little OffTopic Question:

Has some German or Main Europe Origin User Pre-Ordered DA:I already and can tell us when we can Preload the Game over here? It tells you this when you hover the Mouse over the DA:I Logo in your Games Section.

Would be nice to know as my 100MBit Connection will be under Maintenance until mid of December as my Provider works on the Network. Thanks in advance :)

And yes, I could find it out my self but I have not decided yet which Version I will buy. And EA Help has no Preload Dates and they even told me in Chat (20 Minutes ago), that we can not Upgrade from the Digital Standard to the Digital Deluxe Version. Not sure if the latter is true as EA Help is usually *PEEP*

Germany preloads on the 17 november at 18:00.

I probably set up a VPN to get access at the NA release date in origin. Can't wait 3 days!

Why don't you just use VPN and skip this unnecessary and utterly pointless annoyance.

One thing I can't fathom is why this rule is enforced for games that are bought digitally. :c

I don't think I've bought a physical version of a game in about a year, the rest have all been digital.

The exception to this rule was GTA V (which was released worldwide on the same day) and it was the limited edition that came with extra swag.

I think I'll be using a VPN as well to unlock it on the 18th since that's apparently allowed?

In finland one of the shops says 20th, the other one said earlier 21st when I went there and asked, so tbh I have no idea which one it is :)

I know I shouldn't be that sensitive to it, but unfortunately I am. Constantly it is said that the release date is 18th for the US and the 21st in the EU, but that simply isn't the case. As far as I know and can look up, the release date for all of Europe is the 20th, the only country in the EU where it comes out the 21st, is the UK.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad they mention the European release date and that it actually is earlier than what they state, but the fact that the UK is the only English speaking country doesn't mean the rest of Europe doesn't see or read these announcements or that the UK is the only relevant country in Europe.

So please, BioWare, keep that in mind next time you make an announcement regarding release dates or something similar.

There are other countries in Europe with the same release date, 21st. Portugal for one, even on Origins.

To be fair they have improved on such things for example time zones used to be PST all the time but now GMT is also quoted on most publications

I'm getting the digital edition from the states so I'll be playing on the 18th using my us acct

I've had so many problems with the versions of the games I have downloaded via Origin that I've ordered physical disks this time.

Patience, amazes me how some people worry or find it an issue if it's released a few days later, end of the day you will be playing it this time next month, also remember sooner you play DA-I quicker you'll finish it and have to  wait for DA4 ;) .

There is always a bright side to waiting :) .

Japan is on the 20th just like the rest of Europe. Please correct this. I live here and that is what Origin says for the DAI release date for me.

All the info I provided, came form the official website. Since there is no way to change the country on the origin webstore site, I couldn't verify it.

But it still says 27th, or maybe I am wrong. Someone with more knowledge of Japanese language could help here a little

Spoiler

Maybe they forgot to update the website.

Anyway I updated the list.

Both the UK and Ireland are part of the EU so it is correct to say that the game is released to the whole of the EU by 21 November. if you said game available on 20th in EU that would be wrong.

There's probably an element of diplomacy and no doubt an agreement that you use the date where the games available to the whole of the EU rather than have an Continental Europe date and a UK and Ireland date.

It's probably a case also of not annoying one of the largest games market in the world. The UK is just behind Germany in terms of market worth (3.6 and change to 3.7 and change billion respectively) but to a smaller population (63 v 83)

Many games are releasing at the same time digitally so i don’t see why EA is different.
It is time EA started treating other countries more fairly.

Really ? I always thought Azerbaidjan was cramed with Russia, yet Origin tells me it'll unlock on ther 18th November.

I'm from Russia and Origin says 18th november for me too.
